If you try to cut off thick branches from the top, without a shallow undercut, the branch may splinter. Do not force pole saw. The motor will overload and can burn out.

In two or three years, the palm trees will probably be too high for it to reach the branches and I'll have to hire someone to trim them, but in the meantime, I'll save probably $200-$300 in costs, and I can still sell this on Craig's List for $50 or so. Fully extended at max height will feel like twice as much unless you extend your left hand grip on the shaft as far up to the cutting head as you can when raising or lowering the tool. This gives you better leverage. Also retract the shaft when cutting low branches or when trimming limbs.

Answer:	We used this item for a couple of projects after which the chain was loose. Falling off the bar. The instructions are very unclear and there is no clear way to adjust the position of the bar to tighten the chain. The adjustment knob will not do it as I tightened it as much as I could. After playing around with it I managed to tightened the chain but do not think it will last. This problem is a design flaw with this item.

Answer:	Wen has an excellent web site with their products and owner manuals online. Be careful about the chainsaw size. There is a common Oregon saw blade that fits, but if this is like their chain saw, this requires a special saw blade. The saw blade on the chain saw uses an Oregon saw, that only Wen sells (that I could find). Most chains have cutting blades on every link. The chains for battery saws have an extra link with no cutting edge, to help keep the rpm faster, and protect the motor. There is a long distance between cutting blades I've bought extra saws from their site, and the cost is reasonable. And if you buy two, you get free shipping. I verified the battery required for the 40417 chainsaw will fit this pole saw. They also have a smaller charge battery. I've found the 40404 will run for over 40 minutes, while the smaller one about half that. I did not verify that the saw part number is the same for both the chainsaw and pole saw, but they both use electric motors, both are 16 inch. I looked all over for the chainsaw pn that the bag the saw came in had, and even looked at the oregon site. Its not there. They may have a special licensing agreement. The Wen net site is pretty good. It has all the parts on their product listed in the owners manual.
