Answer:	It is metal, but painted black like the photo. So perhaps once upon a time it was stainless steel- but they painted over it so it isn't anymore? Lol. Photo is accurate. Works well, it's easy to set up, holds a cord of wood. The cover is ok but it could use more Velcro.

Answer:	I cut my firewood to 16 inches and that works great. I don’t think the cover would be as effective with much longer pieces but the frame is very strong so, the weight of more wood would not be an issue. I use tarps on some of my other racks.
