Answer:	No contrast adjustment that I know of but there is a back light. But there is a back light that might help. Check your battery. It is a bit sensitive to your viewing angle so hold it directly in line with your eyes. But I repeat, check your battery.

Answer:	This weather center is equipped with 24 hour pressure history graph/tendency arrows. The bar chart indicates the air pressure history over the last 24 hours. The columns represent the pressure change (in Hg or hPa) readings at specific times. The "0" is equal to the current pressure and each bar represents how past pressure was compared to the current pressure. Read the graph from left to right. If the bars are rising, it means that the weather is getting better due to the increase of air pressure. If the bars go down, it means the air pressure has dropped and the weather is expected to get worse from the present time. A Forecast tendency indicator, above the pressure history graph, indicates rising, steady and falling pressure.It's a great unit for the money. The color graphics are awesome. I've found the info to be very accurate and, as a result, very useful.

Question:	Replacing batteries on a roof-mounted unit is a pain. I have power there, so can it be modified easily
Answer:	You can convert "anything" battery powered to a AC converted application. Just match your voltage and amperage and seal the hole wire comes through. Easy. Just find a wall wart to match, solder additional lead wires, as required for length. Heat shrink the soldered connection. Given the 4 AA required, and I don't have this unit, my guess is something 5-6 volts with about 800 -1000 mA would work, just check the stats on it.
Question:	I know the manual says batteries in the display are for backup only, but does anyone know about how long it can survive on batteries
Answer:	I bought mine in 2016 & just had to change the batteries today 2/28/2020
Question:	What is the maximum distance between the outside unit and the display? Does the sensor need to be in the shade
Answer:	The distance is 330 ft. However be careful where you place the display from the station. Walls and other things can weaken the signal. It depends on what your house is made of. My house is primarily wood. The signal has no problem reaching the other end of my house (about 150 ft I believe). Also don't place the display near computers or radios or other electronic devices. It can cause interference with your station. Now the outside station it self is does not need shading. I actually recommend you place the station as high as possible (like on a pole on your roof, if you can't, place it no lower than 5ft-6ft from the ground) This ensures that your wind readings are accurate. The thermometer and hydrometer sensors are in the sensor and a internal fan circulates air past the sensors from outside, allowing the temperature readings to stay normal in the sun. Also make sure that station is in a wide open area with nothing around the sensor that could block the wind reaching the station. Typically I would say 50 ft from obstacles but I'm not sure how close. A lot of writing a know but hope this helps you!

Answer:	Hi, The Kestrel 1000 does not measure wind direction. Try the Kestrel 5500. It has an internal compass and reports wind direction.

Answer:	Hi, The Data Hold function is used for taking measurements when you are unable to view the display. When turned on by holding down the power button then pressing the left arrow button, It will freeze the current readings until the hold mode is turned off. One example might be if you were taking an airflow reading of a vent above your viewing angle.

Answer:	It comes with a plastic base that the sending unit mounts to. The base has several holes drilled into it for several mounting positions. But no pole or anything comes with it to get it up high or anything. The base is only a couple of inches tall.

Answer:	I have a model 2000, but according to the spec sheet they are all the same. It reads -20-158 degrees F. Probably wouldn't work very well in Alaska!

Question:	How would you measure the wind direction
Answer:	This anemometer only measures wind speed and temp. If you meant; how do you find the best direction to aim? You should be able to feel where the wind is blowing directly at your face, aim the unit in that general direction, then move it gently to your right and then your left until you find the maximum wind speed. If you need to know the exact direction, purchase a fixed anemometer with a wind vane.
