Question:	I have had several wireless rain gauges and they only seem to work for a year or so. Does anyone have it for say 3 years and have it still working
Answer:	My second unit is was purchased in 2017. It has worked properly the entire time. I just moved and will be buying another very soon. I'm replacing the rain gauge because if it sits in the direct sun for a significant portion of the day, the plastic housing gets brittle. The tabs on mine broke long ago and it is now held together with tape. Functional but not pretty. The unit does require some maintenance. I've found that in the spring and fall, "tree trash" can collect in the cup and block the inlet. I've also have to clear the spiders out from time to time. I highly recommend this product. So much so, i will be buying #3 in the near future.
Question:	Can I make it empty using wireless from inside? To clear a little bit of rain and start fresh
Answer:	It dumps automatically, there is no remote control. That would be useless anyway. You can reset any of the recorded readings from the remote monitor. It can record daily rainfall, event (multiple days of continuous rain), weekly, monthly and annual. What else could yo possible want in a rain gage.
Question:	Does this need to be mounted, or can it just sit on the ground
Answer:	I guess it can be, however, for safety of the gage it should be mounted, for mine I use a 2x4x8 , I cut about ten inches off, drove the 2x4x8 in the ground then nailed the 10inch piece on the top ( as in a T shape). I then mounted the gage ontop. This is very secure and easy. Once mounted the battery can be change without having to unmount the gage. Note, mineis about 30ft fom the receiver insidean works fine. Question:	When it rains, the alarm comes on. But it never registers more than .1 of an inch, even if we get 3 inches. How do I fix it
Answer:	i'm having the same problem. we had over an inch of rain over the weekend and it read "00.0". i'm going to try changing the battery. if that don't work i'm going too contact amazon. sorry, i can't help you.

Answer:	I simply stick mine in the ground. But if you have appropriate tools (drill and bit and get the right screws) it could be successfully mounted on a metal fence or railing. It would be secure. You would have to decide if it was easy or too complicated to do.

Answer:	Screws are not included.
Question:	If you mount it on a fence, how do you empty it
Answer:	Two screws in the fence mount the gauge. There are slotted holes on the gauge that allow you to simply slip it off the mounting screws to empty the water. Then slip back in place. Easy to use and to mount.
Question:	Will it break when water freezes inside the gauge
Answer:	It does now! I have been ordering this gauge since 2006. It was made in America then. The acrylic was so heavy when made in America it would not break, the expanding ice simply moved up in the column. As soon as the made in China move came the gauge wall thickness was literally cut in half. I know because I very carefully measured it. Would love to find a thick one once again.

Answer:	I have the item in question and had no problems. If you are not getting data, you might try moving the display to different locations. Mine is about 25 feet from the instrument. Check the batteries in the gauge to make sure they are working. I lew of these suggestions you can always call the manufacturer. Good luck.

Answer:	Probably a good idea as long as there are no overhead obstructions. One problem I have encountered is it doesn’t take much to block the input. A small seed can do it.

Answer:	I think it can sit on a deck but it has to be within a certain distance from outside monitor. I returned it because it was too complicated to set up. I advise you to watch the videos before ordering.

Question:	Does the rain cup come with a mounting bracket
Answer:	Yes, the bottom of the rain cup detaches, allowing you to screw the bottom to a deck railing or other level surface. You also install the batteries in the bottom section while the top is detached.
Question:	Are batteries included
Answer:	no batteries, takes 3 AAA's in base. I like the system, but when the batteries for a remote die, you have to restart the base station (pull a battery) for it to start receiving data from the remote. All the saved rain data is lost. That is the only problem I have had with the unit that I have. Also be sure that the rain detector is level in all directions, more accurate that way.

Please make sure that you are using standard alkaline batteries from a high-quality brand in all units, then perform the following reset. Please follow the steps carefully as the order is crucial to the success of the reset. Hard Reset: 1. Bring all units together and power down by removing all batteries from each and/or removing the power cord. 2. Change the A-B-C switch on all units to a new, matching channel. 3. Reinstall the batteries in the outdoor sensors. 4. Reinstall batteries and/or power cord into the display unit. 5. Answer:	I'm not sure what the prg126 is, but the PCR800 only works with Professional Weather Stations. The temperature sensor will work with other O.S. wireless units, but the rainsensor isn't compatable.

Answer:	There is a small hole on all three marked "reset," It takes a stiff wire to push in to reset. The gauge and temperature sensor should be reset before resetting the monitor. All should be reset after changing the batteries in all three.

Answer:	It is not wireless. But you can buy a wireless device from there website but it is expensive.
Question:	Does the USB have to plug into the monitor? If so, can I purchase an additional monitor? Is there a model that has a rain guage but is wireless? I don't want to have to stick the monitor in the computer room, but I want to be able to check on my iphone... Any suggestions
Answer:	You have to plug the USB into your computer if you want to update actively online, and you can purchase as many monitors as you want. If you didn't want to have to plug it into your computer, you'd have to get the Bridge unit off the Acurite website to upload directly through your router.
Question:	Does the 01036 give the high and low temperatures of the day
Answer:	Yes, it does. For us, the high temperature is overstated because the unit is in an open, unshaded area, and we live in a warm climate. I don't like the fact that the rain, wind and temperature gauges are all in one unit, because for rain and wind, the unit needs to be in the open, but that means the temperature ends up showing too hot because it's in the sun. Right now it's 69, per my old gauge that's in the shade, and per my phone app and the radio, but the AcuRite says it's 88, which is far off.
Question:	Can I add the bridge unit to this unit
Answer:	From what I've found, you have to order the bridge unit separately directly from AcuRite. I got this as a gift for someone and it pisses me off that you need an EXTRA piece of equipment to get your info on your computer, tablet or smartphone. AcuRite definitely should have included that tidbit in their info about this product.

Answer:	The shipping box from amazon did not show anything, but obviously the box that the weather station was in did show it... if you are ordering this for your husband, leave it in the shipping box....(by the way, it is excellent)
Question:	Does it just Only measure 2 inches of rain
Answer:	The front display only goes to 2"; however the rain gauge has a range up to 999".
Question:	On the inside unit, it appears to only show a total of 2" rainfall, what happens if I get 3-4-5" of rain within a few hours
Answer:	It showed over two inches of rain in one heavy rainstorm, and it shows over 5 inches for the month and over 14 inches since I got the rain gauge. It appears to have a 1 and three digits before the decimal point, so it should be sufficient for anywhere on this planet (Meghalaya, India being the rainiest place, with 467 inches of rain a year).
Question:	Will this rain gauge measure total rainfall for the year
Answer:	The guage has a total rainfall value that measures from the date it went live or was otherwise reset. I have not found a calendar year total, but, the running total gets close.

That means (as long as your Hub has power) you can still see data from your station through the app if your Internet connection goes down. If power to the Hub is lost, the AIR & SKY devices will continue to collect and store data, sending it along once power is restored.

Answer:	It’s easy, just twist the case and the battery case is exposed. The instructions said if you use solar attachment...don’t need batteries

Answer:	If you are able to mount the SKY above nearby objects you will get a better wind fetch. However, it's important to keep the mount and mast sturdy, free from vibrations as any motion will be detected as rain by the haptic sensor which can become pronounced in strong winds on unstable mounts.

Answer:	i have found that this product never lasts more then a year, no matter what you do.... i love the product, will probably buy it again, but after having had numerous (4 maybe?) they all break in 1-2 seasons..... and here in the pacific northwest, sometimes it's snow, sometimes it's rain... if you can't leave it outside in the weather why have a weather system? but even so.... it has not always frozen, we've had winters where it hasn't snowed at all and it still broke....

Answer:	Hi Margaret: although we usually get 7-10 days of below-freezing nights here in my location, we get no snow. Sorry I can't be of more help. Unless you want to measure the snow as it melts, the unit is easy to move. I keep my lashed to a cinder block, but even so, I can move it if need be. Perhaps a little wooden square could be made for it, like a tissue box holder, but with an opening on top the same size as the rain collector? Then the unit would be safe while still being able to collect snow accumulation. Good luck!

Question:	Is there a way to upload data wirelessly, via a wifi link, to weather underground, for instance
Answer:	I have a Raspberry PI running weewx that allows me to send data to Weather Underground. My "indoor" display has a USB connector that I cable up to the Raspberry PI, and the PI transfers the data via wifi to my wireless router and then over the Internet to Weather Underground. Weewx *might* have options to send to other weather services but I'm not sure. Since weewx is written in Python it may also run on other hardware besides the PI but again I'm not sure if that is the case.

Answer:	Hello fitz, Model 06014 is only the 5in1 sensor. This does not come with a display to monitor the station. Model 01512 has both a display and the 5in1 sensor. Model 01512 will come with a single solar panel on the sensor and 06014 is a dual PRO+ sensor. A PRO+ is recommended in areas that are excessively sunny to provide more power to the aspirating fan on the inside of the sensor.
