Answer: You can set a regular alarm as well as a nap time alarm on it. Can set more alarms when connected via the mobile app.
Question: Once connected to wifi can it detect and automatically adjust to "day light saving" change. in other words can it use ntp service over wifi

If you hold the snooze/light button for a few seconds, you can also program the clock to dim and return to regular brightness at specific times. This information is not in the manual, but the manufacturer has a webpage that is helpful (but hard to find!).

troubleshooting Steps : Remove all batteries from outdoor sensor and clock. Press one of the buttons on the clock at least 20 times to clear all memory. Verify that the clock is blank before proceeding (there may be lines painted on the screen). Leave both units without power for 15 minutes (very important). Insert fresh batteries into the outdoor sensor. Insert fresh batteries into the clock. Keep the outdoor sensor 5-10 feet from the clock. When RF connection is established, the temperature will appear on the station. Allow the outdoor sensor and clock to sit together for 15 minutes to establish a strong connection. Do not press buttons for 15 minutes. For optimum 915MHz transmission, the outdoor transmitter should be a distance of no more than 200 feet (60 meters, open air) from the clock.

Note: Distance: The maximum transmitting range in open air is over 200 feet (60 meters) between the outdoor transmitter and the clock. Consider what is in the signal path between the clock and the transmitter. Consider the distance the clock is located away from other electronic in the home. Resistance: Obstacles such as walls, windows, stucco, concrete, and large metal objects can reduce the range. When considering the distance between the transmitter and the clock (200 feet open air) cut that distance in half for each wall, window, tree, bush or other obstruction in the signal path. Closer is better. Do not mount the transmitter on a metal fence. This significantly reduces the effective range. Interference: Consider items in the signal path between the transmitter and the clock. Sometime a simple relocation of the transmitter or the clock will correct the interference issue. Windows can reflect the radio signal. Metal will absorb the RF (radio frequency) signal. Stucco is held to the wall by a metal mesh. Transmitting antennas (ham radio, emergency dispatch center, airports, military base etc.) Electrical wires (utilities, cable etc.) Vegetation is full of moisture and reduces signal.

  • Wirelessly monitors indoor/outdoor temperatures
  • Atomic Clock automatically & adjusts for daylight Saving time
  • 12- & 24-hour Clock. Remote transmission of outdoor temperature to temperature station by 915 MHz
  • Wall hanging or free standing; Perpetual calendar & Time zone setting
  • Requires 2 AA & 2 AAA batteries
  • Accurate and self-setting atomic time and date with automatic daylight saving time
  • Indoor and outdoor temperature; 200 feet wireless range.

User questions & answers

Question: Is the transmitter 915 MHz or 433 MHz
Answer: It is 915 MHz
Question: Other than the price, what are the differences between the model WS-8115U-S and the WS-8115U-B
Answer: Go on line to see the differences between the WS-8115U-S and the WS-8115U-B http://www.lacrossetechnology.com/
Question: can it be as used desk clock
Answer: No. It can not be used as a wall clock or table. It does not work.
Question: light
Answer: The clock is not illuminated...and it it does not weigh very much...therefore it is very "light"

User questions & answers

Question: Can the clock itself be mounted outdoors (patio, deck etc
Answer: So long as it is not exposed to rain. Direct sunlight could affect any electronics. And you would have the 'outdoor ' sensor which you could use indoors if you wanted to. Depending upon your climate extremes of heat or cold eventually affect all electronics. Should work with those caveats.
Question: Does clock include outdoor seperate sensor
Answer: yes it does include outdoor sensor
Question: Does it light up in a dark room
Answer: This unit has big bold text and numbers, it does not light up at night. very legible in daytime.
Question: does it make noise for each second as one person commented? maybe that is what the beep on/off setting is for
Answer: Mine doesn't but I'm almost positive I saw the option to have the beep on or off. After all, there's an alarm built in so I would think as long as they have a beep alarm, might as well make it an option for seconds as well.

User questions & answers

Question: How to i return clock still under warranty? i bought at christmas and did not get out of box until now and it doesn't work. i am past amazon return
Answer: Write the manufacture and explain the situation. I did that and they sent me a new mechanism. That didn't work, and they sent me a new clock. Be patient and persistent... It's a real pretty clock and worth the aggravation to get one that is working right. Be persistent. Be persistent. Be persistent.
Question: Is there a way to calibrate the temperature? Mine is showing 9 degrees cooler than it is
Answer: Not that I could find. It's not all that great of a clock. I've had several problems with mine where I had to take it apart to no avail.
Question: Can this be mounted and function correctly in direct afternoon sunlight
Answer: Mine is mounted on the back of our home which gets direct sunlight in the afternoon, till close to sunset. We got it in early July of this year, and so far we haven't had a problem with it yet! It seems to still be very accurate, and that says a lot, considering we live just south of St. Louis, which is known for it's hot and humid summer days!
Question: Does the clock have a seconds hand
Answer: Dear customer, we have 2 types, one has second hand, the other does not have. Wish you love it. Thanks.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the thickness measurement of the outdoor sensor? I live in an apartment and must place it between a window and a screen
Answer: Here are the measurements: 3/4" (at 'hanger' end) to 5/8" thick (main body of sensor). it is 5" high and 1.5' wide. It would certainly fit between the window and the screen; however, my husband says you may not get a true temperature reading because it would pick up the heat from the window even though it is outside. Can you put it on the window sill on the outside of the screen? That is where I have ours and it works fine. Has not fallen off our brick window sill even though it is slightly slanted. Hope this helps....
Question: Is the remote sensor included or i need to get one
Answer: The sensor is outdoors and the unit itself is inside - they communicate via radio/wifi signals. You do not need to purchase anything additional.
Question: is it accurate
Answer: Hi Linda. Mine appears to be within 1°F. Plenty good enough to monitor the weather. As a standard, I have a 14" Fisher mercury in glass laboratory thermometer accurate to 1/4°F, which I trust. I use two display stations (upstairs and downstairs) running off one outdoor transmitter. They both read exactly the same at all times and are now about 2 years old. Hope this is helpful. Don
Question: does it work in very cold weather, negative degrees
Answer: We live in Texas. It was fine for 4 years until our first cold front came in 2 weeks ago. We went down to 60 F when the sensor stopped working. I ordered a new sensor with amazon. That one stopped working after 3 days when the next cold front came in at 55 F. What a terrible waste of money. I'll be calling La Crosse on Monday.

Question: Can this clock b only running on batteries
Answer: The unit runs only on batteries. The clock uses two AA batteries and the outside sensor also uses two AA batteries. I’ve only had my clock a couple of months, but similar clocks I have owned usually run a year or more on a set of batteries.
Question: Do these LaCrosse atomic clocks have a light
Answer: No but I have always been able to see the display in even low light situations
Question: How accurate are the moon phases, that's my main concern
Answer: Works for me. Accurate as how? It shows the phases of the moon that are in sync. Full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8. Accurate enough. I can compare by looking out at night and seems to be correct.

User questions & answers

Question: Why doesn’t outside temp register? Inside temp is working I also put in brand new batteries
Answer: Check that your batteries are charged to 1.5. If you don't have a way (voltage meter) to check, try brand new batteries that are new off the store shelf. For the sync-up process, the batteries must be 1.5 or better. It's the #1 problem we see.
Question: Hello. . . i love this weather station but the aa batteries in my remote die very quickly. what batteries work bet for you
Answer: All outdoor sensors should use Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. Alkalines will freeze, rechargables start at a max of 1.4 v and drop to 1.2 v fairly quickly and do not like extreme cold. They do not work in Iowa winter. All my external sensors use AA Ultimate Lithiums and last the entire winter, even at -15 below zero F. I change them out every Fall.
Question: Looking to mount this unit flat on a wall. Wtith power cord attached, would this unit sit flush against the wall
Answer: Yes, it can be wall mounted and sit flush against the wall even with the cord attached.
Question: Is it necessary to buy the la crosse technology tx141th-bv2 wireless outdoor thermo-hygrometer $19.95 to make the wireless forecast station wireless
Answer: If I may say, you might want to reconsider a product from LaCrosse. I have had an s85814 weather station for about 3 years and it currently serves as the night light in my bedroom. It never worked and LaCrosse wasn't much help. The temperature outside was always off by close to 20 degrees. Don't do it, you'll regret it!
