Question:	There was no paperwork with my thermometer. How does it work? How do I tell what the temperature is
Answer:	Thank you for your purchase. The instructions should be on the box. If you do not have it, you read the markings that are on the lowest sphere of the group on top. This is the one that tells you the temperature.

Answer:	I would think it would adjust to wherever it was placed. I bought mine when I was at sea level and now I've moved to a higher altitude. Works just fine.

Question:	How do you get the tube into the barometer? I can only get it in part way before it gets stuck
Answer:	It is best to wet the outer tube to reduce the friction. Next, push the tube in and out of the spout making small progress each time. Eventually it will make its way into the vessel but it does take some time and patience. I hope this helps.

Answer:	Mine was snug too when I first got it and there are times when it isn't. My guess is there was too much humidity there is in the air. You can give it a couple days and see if it shrinks down or try and take some sand paper and open the cut out a little.

Answer:	It slips over the normal top bolt on top of the flagpole. As long as the threads match and the bolt is long enough, a ball can be attached. We replaced our ball with a gold plated eagle.

Question:	Can it be calibrated
Answer:	No but there is a solution. The little bracket that the coil spring is mounted to on the back can be rotated to align the needle to the correct temperature. There’s a small amount of glue that may need to be to separated between bracket and backing plate but for example on mine the glue was already separated, probably causes rotation during transportation. Simply rotate that coil bracket which is connected to the needle to the correct temperature, mine was still tight but you could add a drop of glue to secure it if needed.
Question:	Is this safe in garage
Answer:	Unless you are in Jay Leno's garage, why do you need an 18" thermometer that can be seen from 100' away???
Question:	Is the metal coil that operates the thermometer enclosed in any way? The open coil on our current one gets water in it and freezes, which keeps it from reading the temp accurately. We live in a very cold climate
Answer:	It works great...I have had temps down to 14 below and as high at 120 throughout the years that I have had this model...it works great...even in the freezing winters of NY--it has never frozen...I can't get to it to tell you if the coil is enclosed or not, it is out of reach, and I don't remember...but, I would buy this one again if a wind storm took this one away...it could happen...lol...It is the best one I have found over the years...nice big clear numbers...you will love it...
Question:	I want the back to have no plastic. Where the screws go must be all solid metal.Is the Back Metal or Plastic
Answer:	The back is aluminum / metal, there are 2 tabs to mount the unit, both are aluminum. One tab is located at the top center and the other tab on the bottom center. These tabs are not shown on the photo, but are able to easy to put out to allow the mounting with either screws or nails. I used screws. My only other advise - keep the clear plastic cover waxed, otherwise over the years, the cover yellows. I usually clean the plastic face cover twice per year with a simply soap and water. In the Spring and just before our cold Northern NY Winter apply a good coat of car wax acceptable to plastic.

Mounting Instructions

Use two screws or nails (not included) to securely mount the thermometer. Place the top screw approximately 1” below where you would like the top of the thermometer and leave 3/16” of the screw head out. Place the top keyhole over the screw and slip down to secure. Bend the bottom hanger down to expose the keyhole and use a screw to mount securely.

Question:	I need to hang this on an outside wall that has no overhang/covering. Will it stand up to weather (rain,heat,cold, etc.) okay
Answer:	Well mine got knocked down by heavy wind and the clear cover cracked. I took it off and Im using it without the cover for now. Bought a cheaper basic one at Target for under 15 dollars and its nicer and better built. This one is off by 3 degrees.

Answer:	You're correct. It measures a little over 13 inches. I have mine hanging on some lattice in my patio which you shouldn't do as the sun shines on the back of it and gives a false reading. Should work fine if you place it on a stable surface.

Question:	does it keep good readings? i have an accurite and it sucks
Answer:	Not really. Probably within 5 degrees either way. I had to twist the mounting in the back to get it close to start with. The good news is it's cleaner looking than my old one.
Question:	Does this come with a metal hanging bracket so it will swivel
Answer:	This is a wall mount device. I believe the next size down does swivel. "Springfield Big and Bold Thermometer with Mounting Bracket (5.25-Inch)". I opted for the larger face.

Question:	Would these work in a fifth wheel rv basement? We need to keep water lines from freezing in cold weather camping
Answer:	It's just a thermometer and won't keep anything from freezing. I think it will work for you. I like being able to see it from 10± feet but I'm disappointed with accuracy in sunlight. (It says 90° when it's obviously 70°)
Question:	What is the height and width of this product
Answer:	The size in 15 1/2" height x 2" width
Question:	Can the temperture be seen at an angle or do you have to be directly in front of the thermometer to see what the reading is
Answer:	You might be able to see it from a slight angle, but it's best to be directly in front of it. Unfortunately, the thermometer they sent me is consistently under-reporting the temp by 12 to 13 degrees. I tried everything I could think of to remedy the situation, but to no avail. I will be putting mine in the trash.
Question:	Does this work in all-day direct sun? I want to get one for the shade, and one for the sun
Answer:	You should never, ever put a thermometer in direct sunlight. You are then trying to measure the temperature of the sun, and you could ruin the thermometer. Outdoor temperature always refers to the temperature of the air, which can only be measured in in the shade.
