Answer: Yes, generally the planks will get charred when you grill with them. Charring is a good thing, but you won't want to hold onto a charred plank as it would be messy and you will have gotten the majority if the smoke from the plank. I hope you enjoy grilling with the planks!

Answer: It should be pretty charred by the time you are done with it so plan on using it once.
Question: Can I put the cedar plank inside the oven to grill

Question: Why do you need cedar plank to grill fish or vegetables
Answer: Need is a deceiving word. You don't need it, but it sure makes grilling fish on the BBQ, so much easier, tastier and less messy. No flipping. Your fish is perfect everytime. I have not BBQ 'd veggies, so I can't comment on that. Enjoy!

Answer: rough cut on one side..
Question: are they good for steak
Answer: They are excellent for steaks.. soak them in a red wine and water mixture. Put them off the main flame to the back of the grill. Cook the main amount of time on the first side. Don’t turn them back and forth and no need for hatch marks.
Question: Can you use them to broil in the oven
Answer: The cedar flavor gets passed to the meat/fish by the plank being cooked/burned underneath. I don't think it would work well in an oven and could be a real problem.

Answer: Not sure, but I bought a 30 pack of the cedar planks and I'm extremely happy with performance & taste. I'm about ready to order again.

Answer: After years of testing and production of millions of grilling planks, we've settled on a thickness of about 3/8" (0.35".) Not so thick that it wastes time and wood, and not so thin that the grilling planks burn-up before your food is cooked, but "just right". We found that thicker planks don't give you any more flavor, and they unnecessarily extend cooking times.
Question: how big are they
Answer: In order to keep prices low and save on shipping costs we have reduced the length to 11" instead of the 11.75". The extra three-quarters of an inch forced us to use a larger box and dramatically increased shipping expenses. We talked to customers and they would rather keep prices low while only losing 3/4" of length.
