| Answer: | It doesn't say anything about the finish on this thing but it is slick like Teflon so it may be one of the off shoot finishes that are used that resemble Teflon. I wouldn't scrape the surface with anything sharp but the whole thing is finished the same and is dishwasher safe. They include 100 wax paper discs to use so you don't have to dig the patties out after forming them. I got a roll of parchment paper to use and it seems to hold up better than wax paper in the long run especially if you're going to stack and freeze a number of them as I did. The press cleans up easily especially when using the discs if you are worried about that. I like the fact that it is a simple, easy to use tool and stores neatly in the box in a drawer to keep it clean and free from scratches. The handle unscrews so it all fits into a 1 1/2"X 4 3/4"X 5 1/2" box that could easily be taken camping, hunting or anywhere you please. Hope that helps. |

| Answer: | I just called Cuisinart to ask about this. They said that it was not pre-seasoned but, as others have said, since you're not cooking on it, seasoning it isn't strictly necessary. You'd want to take precautions, as again others have noted, so that it doesn't rust since it's pure cast iron with no protective coating on its surface---basically dry it quickly and thoroughly after washing. I'm considering seasoning it myself, or at least applying a thin coating of oil. To be safe, if I do season it, I'm planning to remove the wooden handle while it's baking in the oven. |

This way the burger falls out and I remove the sleeve and use it for the next burger. If you are only making a couple of burgers then press them in the container and put lid on store and freeze until you need them. |

Any more meat than that and your patties will almost look like balls when they're done cooking, due to the shrinkage. I usually flatten mine out after I remove from the press, so that they will fit the bun better.I've also written a review where I describe my process, which prevents the press from coming into contact with the meat. |
