User questions & answers
Question: | Can I run my AC |
Answer: | Air conditioners require a certain amount of power (watts, which equals voltage [120 for plug-in, 240 for most central units] multiplied times current draw in amperes ["amps"]. and that's the running power it needs. But when it starts up, for a brief time is pulls more power to start, and for air conditioners the starting power required is more than for a lighter, easier spinning load like a window fan, so you need to identify the starting power draw. Generator ratings show a running power level and a starting power, compare to ensure you get a sufficiently powerful generator, and include all other loads that will connect to it (lighting, refrigerator, etc.), even though they will be less than most air conditioners, it all adds up. |
Question: | is this rating "this inverter operates at 64 dBA from 23 feet" at peak draw, or idle |
Answer: | The industry standard for measuring inverter output is 25% load. |
Question: | I know the product dimensions are listed but they don't specify which is height, length and width. Can anyone please help me with that? Thanks |
Answer: | I went out to measure and my approximate measurements are quite different than what's listed. I measured roughly 18inW x 20.5inL x 17.5inHWide I measured across top, front to backLength I measured across front from side to sideHeight I measured from ground to top, including height of gas cap. Hope this helps. |
Question: | What makes this a hybrid generator? Is it an inverter generator, or something else |
Answer: | We are using the term hybrid in the sense that we have taken a traditionally fully enclosed inverter style generator and put it on an open frame like a traditionally non-inverter style generator. This allows us to use a larger engine and increase output power while decreasing cost. The trade off is that this machine will be slightly louder than fully enclosed style inverters. |

User questions & answers
Question: | start a 13500 btu AC |
Answer: | We have a 13,500 BTU A/C in out 2004 Mountaineer and this generator starts and runs it with no problems. We leave the generator in "economy" mode all the time and it naturally revs up when the A/C starts up, but has never failed to do its job. Also, we run it only on propane... it's never had a drop of gasoline in it. |
Question: | Looks like it would weigh more with the battery and starter. Not much heavier than the 75531i |
Answer: | Rope start backup. |
Question: | How to connect to 500 gal tank |
Answer: | mine is connected to our 500 gal tank but it took some work going back & forth between the tech at champion (have to get the right one) and my propane company. i had propane company put a quick disconnect valve at the house, where the propane goes into the house on the low side of the step down valve, then i had them make me a 20' hose that connects to the diaphragm / hose that champion provides minus their regulator. There is a limit on how long the new hose can be as the pressure will drop with distance and you do need a minimum about of gas pressure for it to work. (see other answer from Champion here). Triple check w/ both Champion & your propane company. Also when you turn it on to run, the gen will have to pull out the air in the hose, takes several short cranks on the gen and if it's cold out you may end up having to pull the cord - takes some practice w/ the choke. Once the propane is flowing it's easier to restart if you don't disconnect the hose from either end. I used it this way for 22 hrs recently and it worked like a charm. Don't forget to check the oil regularly. The diaphragm must be exposed to ambient air pressure but also must stay dry. |
Question: | Does this come with the lp hose? And what connection is it |
Answer: | Yes it does. The hose connection is std. 3/8 propane connection like a barbeque uses. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with an oil fill funnel |
Answer: | Yes, this machine comes with an oil funnel. Thank you. |
Question: | I see the 100468 parallel kit has a 30a outlet. can you connect this device to only one generator and use that 30a outlet with only 1800 watts power |
Answer: | 30A at 120Vac is 3600W. Each generator has half that, so 2 are needed. You CAN buy an ADAPTOR for a 30A receptacle, but ~15A is all you can source from a single generator of this size. |
Question: | Is this unit able to convert to duel fuel |
Answer: | Unfortunately this model is designed to strictly run on gasoline, not dual fuel. If you are interested in a 2000 watt dual fuel, we recommend looking at our model 100402. Thank you! |
Question: | Is there a way to drain the fuel out of the carburetor so it doesn't gum up |
Answer: | I would also spray carb cleaner in there too because draining it is not a fix, it's just better than not draining. They usually have a vent hole in the carb you can spray into, then ideally you run the gen on carb cleaner for a bit to ensure all the gas is out. For example the idle/intermediate jet is extremely small and its emulsion tube will hold fuel after draining. This jet is no fun to clean if plugged. So running it dry is much better than draining, and running it dry on carb cleaner is better still. So if you plan on not using it for a while I'd figure out a way to make that happen. This bs is the #1 reason I use propane. The second reason is storing gas is a pita and imo dangerous, propane is easy and safe. Third is run time on gas isn't very long but even on a little 20lb propane tank it'll run 4x as long. I have a 100lb tank so 20x as long. So imo it's easily worth the extra $ to get the dual fuel version. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this generator be hooked up to a larger (100+ gallon) propane tank, with some type of adapter |
Answer: | You need a POL to QCC1 adapter like this or similar. ( SHINESTAR Propane Tank Gauge and Hoses https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0ILKIJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_dmVNBbFV8KWDT) Just bought one of these generators for my in laws and a new 100# tank right before hurricane Florence. |
Question: | Can I run a fridge and a freezer |
Answer: | Definitely. I ran my furnace, fridge, heater for the fish tank, a bunch of lights and phone chargers. Just remember to start the generator first, let it warm up some, pull one thing it at a time and you'll be fine. |
Question: | What is the decibel noise rating |
Answer: | Remember folks that this is a air cooled engine which are notoriously noisy engines by design. The engine does have a large muffler which helps a lot with exhaust noise but this generator has a open cabinet and doesn’t have an enclosed cabinet so all the machinery noise from the engine and generator goes everywhere. Noise is relative to different people. If a rattling noise is what bothers you but low sounds don’t bother you, you might consider a more expensive model that is enclosed. If rattles don’t bother you but low sounds do, then this is a good product for you. Personaly I knew what I was buying. An open generator that is going to make some sort of racket so I made a very nice enclosure and mine produces 65db at 5 feet. All generators of this price that are air cooled and not enclosed make a lot of noise. It’s more of a matter of what you or your neighbors can tolerate. |
Question: | if battery goes dead can it be started manually |
Answer: | yes, but only if using propane as a fuel source. if using gasoline then the recoil start won't work without a charged battery attached. I have tried it, and Champion customer service confirmed this. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the dB rating on this unit |
Answer: | 50 dB at 1/2”. That is what the manufacturer is saying. Without a standard it is worthless information. I can claim mine is 47 dB but that measurement is at 30’ from the quietest side another claims 57dB but that is at 10’ Reporting the max reading from any side. Guess which one is quieter? Every generator is 0dB if you stand far enough away. |
Question: | Where is it made |
Answer: | Most of Generac’s products—like the XC Series portable generators—are built right here in Wisconsin. However, the iQ3500 is manufactured to our specifications by a partner overseas. |
Question: | Where is it made |
Answer: | Same as my DuroMax XP2000iS. These are all Yamaha clones. I paid $450 for mine. Same exact generator, just blue instead of orange. Also, the Pulsar PG2300iS at $429. |
Question: | Generac 30 A for RV |
Answer: | I have a Rockwood 233s travel trailer with a 15k air conditioning unit. This runs the whole unit, lights, fridge, water pump fans and AC no problem. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Parallel is there a way to parallel these and use them to the full potential? Or get 240v |
Answer: | No. I went through this the hard expensive way. You would need to wire these in series, not parallel. It is confusing for us non-electrical engineers. It would be a good idea to make a series kit because in my estimation most people who can afford a 50Amp RV aren't going to screw around with two generators when they can buy a Honda EU7000is. There are no consumer grade (affordable) 240v propane inverter generators available. Just loud dirty power. |
Question: | The fuel is gasolinera or LPG or propane gas |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long can i keep the generator running continuously? (westinghouse wgen |
Answer: | If you are referring to "continuous duty cycle" which means runs 24/7? No, this is not rated for that, Continuous duty generators cost $15K and up, run on diesel fuel or natural gas, engine operates at 1800 RPM, (4 pole generator). basically out of most peoples price range, and unless you have natural gas to the residence? |
Question: | Why oh why can't this be shipped to alaska? we're the ones that need generators |
Answer: | You're too close to Russia. We don't want them falling into the wrong hands. 😂 |
Question: | Is the 50 amp 120/240V 14–50r transfer switch capable or can you only use the 30r? It says 50 amp transfer switch ready on the brochure |
Answer: | The 240 volt outlet plug on the generator is a 30 amp style; not 50 amp. Most economical and safe whole home installation is a sliding plate on distribution panel, 30 amp “back feed” breaker, outdoor 30 amp plung-in box, 10 gauge wire (in conduit if exposed and susceptible to damage), 25 ft 240 volt generator connector cable, all for about $200 for DIY’s. DO NOT DEPEND ON ALWAYS REMEMBERING TO TURN OFF THE MAIN BREAKER!!!!! |
Question: | Prende aires acondicionados?

Product description
Remember when you had clean and quiet portable power? The WEN 3,800 Watt Inverter Generator produces clean energy free of voltage spikes and drops without making all of the noise of a regular generator. Generate up to 3800 surge watts and 3400 rated watts of power. Our 212cc 4-stroke air-cooled OHV engine operates at an extremely quiet 57 decibels at quarter load, about as quiet as a window air conditioner or the average conversation. This limits its invasiveness while hunting, camping, tailgating and restoring back-up power. The WEN 3800W Inverter Generator is also equipped with fuel shutoff. This feature turns off the flow of fuel, allowing the generator to use up the remaining fuel from the carburetor before automatically shutting down. This helps fight the build-up and blockages caused by stagnant fuel inside of the carburetor, minimizing maintenance while prolonging the unit’s lifespan. Designed to mirror a pure sine wave, this generator limits total harmonic distortion to under 0.3 percent at no load and under 1.2 percent at full load, making it safe enough to run laptops, cellphones, monitors, tablets and other vulnerable electronics. The lightweight design along with the built-in wheels and folding handle make for easy portability while the ultra-efficient 2.2-gallon tank provides over 8.5 hours of half-load run time. Our fully-packed panel comes equipped with two 3-prong 120V standard household receptacles, one AC 120V 30A NEMA TT-30R twist lock receptacle, one 12V DC receptacle, one 5V USB port and an easy-to-read digital fuel and load display. Maximize fuel economy by engaging the Eco-Mode switch. This feature allows the generator's engine to automatically adjust its fuel consumption as items are plugged into and unplugged from the panel, preventing the usage of unnecessary gasoline. The oil access cover makes for easy oil changes. Need more energy? Easily link up two WEN inverter generators using a WEN 56421 Parallel Connection Kit (sold separately) in order to share wattage between multiple units. Low-oil and low-fuel automatic shutdown, indication lights, and overload protection safeguard both your generator and your electronics from damage. The included spark arrestor allows for legal use in national parks and campgrounds. And because this is a WEN Product, your inverter generator comes backed by a 2-year warranty, a nationwide network of skilled service technicians and a friendly customer helpline. Remember when your generator powered your electronics safely and quietly? Remember WEN.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there aftermarket propane/ natural gas conversion kit for the 56380i generator? This generator exceeded all my expectations |
Answer: | You will need the engine manufacturers model number to search for the kit on line. |
Question: | Will this generator auto charge up a battery when it starts to get low |
Answer: | No you should run your generator every 21 to 25 days and store it inside a garage. Cold weather can effect such a small battery. Let it run for 30 to 45 mins to recharge the internal battery. You could also buy a trickle charger for a small motorcycle battery size if you dont want to run your generator. Just be creative hook up your shop vac or air compressor to fill up tires on your vehicles or shop vacuum the interior while hooked up to your generator! |
Question: | How long of an extension cord can I use with this generator |
Answer: | I use a 100’ 10 gauge ext cord with no problems |
Question: | Will the WEN 5380i run effeciently at 7800' elevation |
Answer: | You have to buy a high altitude carb air jet. They are only $20 shipped with tax but are a little annoying to install. |
