Answer:	9"×6" It will hold a 2 liters. Think of when you buy a 2 liter soda, that's what it will hold and not much more. You can look into buying bigger barrel's and they will hold more. These are meant to sit on a counter or outside and not take up a lot of space.

Answer:	You can't remove the cover. There is an opening with a removable screen that's approx 3" by 12" for filling. You could mop it out with the right tool.
Question:	Is the screen fine enough to keep mosquitos out of my rain barrel
Answer:	I bought it a few weeks ago and today it's the first time I try to use the rain water we got last week. The spigot is definitely plastic and it doesn't fit my regular sized hose, even with plumbing tape. Crap.
Question:	Does this work only with round downspouts? Or does it also work with rectangular downspouts? If so, what size rectangular ones does it work with
Answer:	I purchased my first of these barrels Sept. 2013. It looked so nice that I purchased two more May of 2014. I can attest that all these barrels still bow out when filled 3/4 or more. I have paving sand perfectly level, then concrete blocks on this & the barrel sitting securely and supported by the large blocks. Even though they do bow, mine have been going back into shape after some of the water is used. You will need to set them out 7 or 8 in from your house, because the bowing will push them forward. Because a portion of the time the barrel is being used it may be bowed, the screen insert will not fit firmly in the recessed area it's made for allowing mosquitos and such to get in. I sprinkle a few mosquito bits in the tank. It's annoying, but - NO - the company has not corrected this problem by making a thicker product. I intend to contact them about this. More people should, because otherwise, it's a very nice barrel that holds up cosmetically outside without fading out.

Answer:	No the lid does not come off, only a 4 by 3 inch opening can be unscrewed.But then all debris,leaves etc will end up in the barrel,and clog up the hose spout .
Question:	Do you use higher spigot often? Are you happy there are two spigots
Answer:	the higher spigot is useful to fill a watering can or bucket. or, if you have hoses coming off it to water or drip water an area, you can water two areas at one -- one hose coming off top spigot, and one hose coming off bottom. this is useful to save time! obviously, the top hose will stop once the barrel is less than half-way full though. ;-)
Question:	can this be used without hooking it up to a gutter
Answer:	It is designed to be a gutter water collector. I suppose one could modify it. You don't say what you want to put in it.

Question:	which is the best rain water diverter to use to connect the gutter to the barrel
Answer:	I used the Rain Reserve 2012312 Rain Barrel Connector Kit which I bought on Amazon. It works well and is nice as the tubing is flexible making connection easy. But the flexibility is also a deficit as the durability of the tubing is limited and replacement tubing is a bit expensive. You can get more life if you remove in winter (if you are in a cold region). I simply replaced the flexible tubing with PVC to get more life.
Question:	Can you keep this hooked up to the downspout in the winter in freezing temperatures
Answer:	I left it hooked up, as for the last few years (MD). The hose to the garden is buried and water does not accumulate above spigot level. I also put a 2x4 in it in case water did accumulate. If you disconnect barrel, you should install a flexible extension on downspout to divert water away from foundation.
Question:	What happens when the gutters put out more water than the Rain Barrel can hole? Can you leave the hose open and let it discharge somewhere
Answer:	There are two "taps" at the top of the rain barrel -- one is your inflow from the gutter and the other is the overflow outflow. Just hook a hose/tube to the overflow and drain where you want. The tube from the gutter and the overflow are NOT included but can be bought at any hardware store (the rainflow diverter I have attached to my downspout includes the inflow tube).

Question:	How do you attach the downspout? No place to attach anything to the mesh & if I remove the mesh the hole is round. All my spout stuff is rectangular
Answer:	Used a rain chain instead of a downspout, then tie wraped bottom chain link to mesh. Also drilled additional holes to drain flower area covered with mesh then gravel before poting mix.
Question:	What about winter months with freezing temperatures
Answer:	You have to drain all water out. The faucets will freeze and then leak the next season.
Question:	Does this rain barrel come with all the spigots as shown on the picture or do you have to buy those separately
Answer:	It comes with a spigot on the bottom and one about halfway down the side. You can take water from either.
Question:	Does the top come off for cleaning
Answer:	There's a 5" x 5" mesh screen (positioned under your downspout) that is mounted with Phillips head screws. Keeps the debris out, but is removable, and I suppose you could hose the inside and turn it upside down. The only drawback is if you don't have plants in the top--it will hold an inch or two of water in the recessed area before it spills out the front lip (looks like a perfect place for mosquitoes to breed). Since we don't intend to have plants in it, we made some modifications--drilling a few small holes and putting a piece of mesh with river rock over them. So far, we're really pleased with how it's working out. We have a short hose attached to a soaker hose that waters hard to reach flower beds when we turn the spigot on.

Answer:	Putting it at the top, as an over-flow, allows the barrel to fill to near capacity, for use between rain events (storage buffer), and meter it out via the spigot near the bottom, that’s already there, for drainage.
Question:	My rain barrels are close together. They have sealed tops. Do you offer a connection kit that is shorter than 6 inches
Answer:	Yes there is a expandable hose that adjusts to length. It will go from 4 to 20 inches easily.
Question:	If my fill hole (attached to downspout) is 3" down from top of barrel, where do I put the hole on the other side (3" or 4" down
Answer:	I put mine an inch lower. It works perfectly. My diverter in the downspout will stop filling once the level reaches the inlet hole, so 1 inch down ensures the other barrel gets filled.

Answer:	This kit is intended to connect a second rain barrel to your first one. This allows the first one to fill then begin to fill the second one once the first is full. That is the reason for connecting it to the tops of the barrels. It will also allow you to only drain 1 barrel at a time once you have installed a spigot onto the bottom of both barrels. If this were installed onto the bottom both barrels will drain out of one barrels spigot. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I don't see any reason why you couldn't drill holes. I've decided to use that side as a bird bath. I add a little vinegar and a piece of mosquito dunk and the birds seem to love it.

Answer:	Yes, that's the whole idea. On the top of the barrel at the back is the black screen. Place the barrel against your downspout and measure carefully to connect/install your diverter to drain into the black screen.

Answer:	I don't know. Never misplaced mines.
Question:	what size are the outlets that go to the barrels and could you glue a pvc coupling on to both and then converge to one 2" pipe
Answer:	I called Rain Reserve and answered my own question. The hose that comes with the full kit is 1.25" so a sump pump hose kit will, or should, work just fine. Our barrels already have the 1.25" fitting and I've plenty of hose on hand. Will report back once I've completed the install.
Question:	On the Rain Reserve website, it shows a 2x3 downspout adapter. Is this the same product or does this attach to a 2x3 directly
Answer:	Included with the kit - an additional plastic extrusion that sits inside the 3x4 opening in the case of the top (the picture of the product doesn't show it), and already molded into the diverter on the bottom. Then, if you were using the larger size downspout instead, you would omit the 2x3 adapter at the top and use a set of tabs (or ears) that are molded into the product and sit outboard of the ring molded in for the 2x3 size on the bottom.
