User questions & answers
Question: | Is there any way to increase the water pressure? I connected two, but the water comes out very weak towards the end |
Answer: | the water pressure comes from your outside faucet, so there's not much you can do to increase it. however, with this Nelson 50180 Simple Soaker you can adjust the sprinklers's individually by turning the spray nozzles...turning them counter clockwise will increase the spray diameter & turning them clockwise will do the opposite. keep your water pressure lower on the first sprinkler, then increase water pressure on 2nd sprinkler (1/2 turn more then the 1st sprinkler), then increase water pressure on 3rd sprinkler (1/2 turn more then the 2nd), then increase water pressure on 4th sprinkler (1/2 turn more then the 3rd....etc.) so basically your increasing each sprinkler next in line, by 1/2 turn more the the previous one. im not a technical writer, but i hope this helps.... |
Question: | How tall are the risers?..and can you purchase taller, risers if needed |
Answer: | The risers are about 8 inches tall. The kit comes with extenders that add another 10 or so inches. There is on extender for each sprinkler. The extenders will screw into one another so you could get up two or three feet if you wished. |
Question: | Is the hose rubber or plastic? If plastic, is it the thin wall plastic or a thicker material |
Answer: | Pretty sure it is plastic...fairly pliable bit thicker than the average garden hose |
Question: | Blow out for winter? I want to bury these but will the cold winter freeze n crack these? Should i blow lines out |
Answer: | I didn't bury these lines and they've not cracked. Of course, I'm in Dallas and we don't have very many days that freeze. I did have to blow out the lines when one of the sprinklers was clogged with mud from my landscapers. I used my air compressor and it was easy. Other than that one time, I've not had to blow them out again. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What size of hose fits this sprinkler |
Answer: | Standard garden hose. The connection is the same whether it is 1/2", 5/8" or 3/4" diameter garden hoses from your favorite big box store. |
Question: | Does the water spray opposite of where hose attaches |
Answer: | It sprays out of the top. It twists around and makes different spray patterns. |
Question: | Will this sprinkler work with low water pressure |
Answer: | It depends on how low the water pressure is. Like any device that uses water pressure for performance, there will be a point where the water can't reach it's maximum radius. It's hard to tell what will happen, it will still work, but it might not work to your expectations. |
Question: | What kind of area are you getting on the rectangle and narrow rectangle settings? I'd like to water a 50'x20' area with 50psi |
Answer: | I'm not sure how much PSI we get out the faucet and hose that this sprinkler is hooked up to, but at full blast we get enough water to cover our little path of grass. I estimate our lawn is around 800 square feet. |
Product description
Rain TrainTraveling Sprinkler With a rustproof cast iron construction, the sprinkler waters up to 13,500 square feet, though covering a lesser area of 11,900 square feet ensures more effective performance. The sprinkler arms adjust for varied spray patterns and arcs, throwing water from 15 to 56 feet. The sprinkler waters as it travels along a hose on a preset route, much like an electric model train, except with a hose as the rails. To water, the homeowner lays out the hose as desired, taking care to avoid dramatic corners or turnabouts that may result in hose kinks or a derailed sprinkler. A front wheel runs on the hose with the two traction-ready rear wheels bestride. The hose connects to the posterior of the sprinkler. For the best results, LR Nelson recommends a 5/8-inch hose, though a 1/2-inch hose may suffice, up to 200 feet in length. For sprinkling termination, the user places a shut-off ramp on the hose to lift the sprinkler off its "rails," while simultaneous stopping operation. The shut-off ramp should be installed with at least five feet of hose between it and the spigot. The traveling sprinkler operates at two motor speeds, high and low. On high power, the sprinkler travels approximately 37 feet per hour, with a 1/4-inch water application. On low power, the sprinkler moves at a 21 feet per hour rate with a 1/2-inch water application. The simple installation requires no tools. The sprinkler weighs 18 pounds

User questions & answers
Question: | Would this cover the range of my 15 by 15 garden |
Answer: | The privacy screen does not completely block the view of the old cars on the other side of my chainlink fence. When the sun is just right you can see right through it. Would not work for a "peeping neighbor" situation except when the sun is on your side. It really depends on the location of the sun. |
Question: | Can a gasket be added or perhaps use some type of silicone caulk |
Answer: | The circular plates are supplied if you want to pull the wall to more than one location. It gives you options. After you secure the circular plate to a surface, you place the base of the pole in the circular plate and twist it. Then you use the set screw. Since my wall was always going to be used in one location, I skipped the circular plates and bolted the post directly to the concrete in my situation. The directions are hard to understand concerning all of this. |
Question: | What is the range, i.e. how large of an area would it water |
Answer: | No we do not advise you use this to contain cats to this area. |
Question: | What is the coverage area if half circle? i have high water pressure by the way |
Answer: | If you can secure mount the posts while avoiding hindering the screen locking mechanism, then yes, you can lock the screen in place. To be clear, I'm not sure how you would accomplish this with the provided post. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I bought one and it doesn’t move |
Answer: | Have you pulled the white disk and associated shaft on the bottom (the plunger) out? This is the on/off valve for the motor. And for the sprinkler to turn off at the end of the sprinkling cycle you need a ramp that fits over the hose that will push the plunger closed. |
Question: | need replacement wheels for rain train |
Answer: | You can find them on Ebay. Type in "wheels for rain train". |
Question: | Will this work on the Nelson Rain Train |
Answer: | Yes, it does work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you operate each hose outlet individually, or when it turns on does water always come out of both outlets |
Answer: | You set up each hose outlet individually - they are both time based. |
Question: | Can this be set to water on selected days, like mon and friday. On this forum one says yes and one says no |
Answer: | NO you can NOT set this to water on select days of the week like the Orbit Model 56544. Watering every 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. day, is not the same as watering every Monday and Wednesday. This device can water every second day which will mean it will water every other day regardless of the day of the week. Which also means that the watering day will eventually become a guess. REASON: The clock model in this device is not a clock/calendar. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Can this be set for twice a day, everyday on one side and use the other side for manual watering |
Answer: | Yep |
Question: | Does this timer have 16 different schedules? And if so how do you set schedule 1, then schedule 2 etc? I would like to water ea. 30 min |
Answer: | Each Outlet should cover a different zone are you run the risk of over watering an area. Each dual faucet can be set to water independent of the other. I live in Texas so I set each outlet to water at 7am and 7pm to get the maximum spread at the best time for the ground to gather water before it evaporates. The duration can be set from 1 minute to 60 minutes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the distance of throw for the pro |
Answer: | This may be the one you need: http://www.amazon.com/Phonak-Receiver-Speaker-Audeo-products/dp/B00DK4330C/ref=sr_1_1?m=A22S7R14L2D88J&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1452127492&sr=1-1&keywords=Phonak+Receiver+-+Speaker |
Question: | inch thread |
Answer: | Yes. However, you will also need to order a "CRT compatability adapter" to make it work. They come in a package of 10 from Local Battery. I just got a receiver for my 10 year old Phonak hearing aid. I thought they had sent the wrong part because I ordered size 2 for right ear, and they sent me a 2xs. I wrote to LocalBattery via my amazon order site, and they informed me it is the same size, just updated and sent me an adaptor. I viewed a youtube video to see how to change it. It was a little tricky because the adaptor is tiny. I had my husband hold a flashlight and used tweezers. The hearing aide works like new again! The audeogist was going to charge me $350 to fix it, or $2500-3000 for a new one. The wire had broken. I imagine if yours is old the wire may be worn and not transmitting. The new wire comes attached to the receiver. |
Question: | How do you take the sprinkler head apart on 6000 series |
Answer: | The manufacturer warranty is 1 year. If you want extended warranty, you can activate the product warranty by following the instruction sheet enclosed in the package box, then you can get a warranty to 2 years. |
Question: | Is this a Chinese Nelson knock off |
Answer: | Nothing seems to "slip out" of the ear canal. The only problem is taking off a mask and the unit slipping OFF of the ear. |
