| Answer: | The head does retract back into the ground once pressure is released from the water line. This would probably happen automatically once the timer shut off, but that might be somewhat slow. For my install (Canada with sub-zero temperatures in winter) to prevent freezing I incorporated a pressure relief valve (basically a ball valve) into the run. At a low point in the run, I dug a slighly deeper hole, layered landscaping fabric, course gravel, pressure relief valve, more course gravel, and wrapped the landscaping fabric over top. This means that each time pressure comes off the line, it drains through the pressure relief valve, ensuring water is evacuated. No winter problems and the sprinkler head retracts quickly and fully. |

| Answer: | You should not be twisting your hose to coil. If you are coiling on flat ground, you will want to lay it out, get all the kinks out, then use the over-under coiling technique(which is also used for hoses and cords, just youtube over-under coiling). Dramm hoses are my favorite because they are sturdy and it is easy to tell when the hose has been twisted. The way most people will coil a hose by twisting it is a spiral actually kinks the hose with each twist. Take my recommendation and learn the right way. I worked three years as a waterer at a ten acre nursery, pulling out 200' hoses three times a day. I can tell you from experience that it is worth learning the right technique. |

So coiling the hose seems to greatly decrease the flow. I did not try uncoiling the hoses. |
