User questions & answers

Question: What are the ingredients in this bag of soil? I'm looking for something that is animal cruelty free. As in no bone or blood meal, etc. Thanks
Answer: It should not!
Question: Any problem with fungus gnats? i know miracle grow has become infamous for them
Answer: It has basic fertilizer/worm castings mixed into it, but could benefit from another source of fertilizer being added.
Question: What is the ph level of this soil
Answer: Allowing for the plants themselves (which were in trade gallon pots) and a drainage layer at the bottom, I was easily able to get one bag to suffice for ~five 10" planter pots.
Question: How many of this bag to fill a 10 gallon pot
Answer: Great question. Currently it is under review. However the ingredients all come from the earth, Peat Moss a natural growing moss found in Canada. Perlite, which is ancient volcanic glass that is mined. Composted pine bark, which is the bark off of natural grown pine trees common over the southern United States. Worm Castings, which is short for worm poop. Coir, which is short for coconut hair. Last and our favorite ingredient is Mycorrhiza, which is natural occurring fungus found in nature that increase the root's ability to absorb nutrients and water from the soil by increasing the surface absorbing area of roots. Together these organic products are mixed together to make the perfect mix your plants will love!

Question: Should I bake it to kill microorganism? How clean is this soil for indoor potting? Thanks
Answer: Thank you for your interest in this item. The dimensions are as follows:Seat Size: 15.5''W x 15.5''DBack Size: 17.5''W x 15.5''HSeat Height: 17.75''HOverall Width: 17.5''WOverall Depth: 18''DOverall Height: 31.5''HWeight Capacity: 800 lbs.
Question: I have two planters that are 48"X10"X10" each. Will one bag be enough for both
Answer: I don't think this would be a good idea for all that plus size i bought some but didn't have that size i know it can take 250,260 but im not sure about 350
Question: Can anyone estimate the weight of this 40 lb planting mix after it is placed in a Smart Pot and properly watered
Answer: My chair broke holding under 400 pounds. I mainly kept it folded up in the kitchen with a LifeTime fold up table but used my rollator (it was just annoying trying to get that heap of steel out of the kitchen but I eventually bought another to keep there permanently). Company was over and I was using it at my desk for a couple of days when the legs just gave out and luckily, it folded where I ended up laying down (I have very bad knees and also bought an falsely rated shower chair which damaged me irreparably). That said, for an event its a stronger chair of its type, but would fall short of the type you could term the card table chair. I would not plan on sitting on it for more than an hour or so and today I see the results of your question in that this chair is being sold at closeout sites for $9 and $10. I would not want anyone getting hurt either. I never reviewed it and glad I didn't. Like I said, it was barely used even though I bought it in 2015 and once I used it for a few days and more frequently and more than two hours at a stretch, it was broken in under five days.
Question: Was your (2 cubic feet) bag of Espoma Organic Potting Mix shipped in a box or just the bag of soil by itself? Did it arrive intact? Thanks
Answer: always is good to have it at any time of the year.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used with lemon trees
Answer: Depends on dry or liquid. I'm assuming you want dry: 1 cubic foot dry = 25.7 quarts dry. (In case you were curious, 1 cubic foot liquid = 29.9 quarts.)
Question: Would the epsoma cactus mix be good for an indoor olive tree? They like fast draining soil
Answer: Looks like and smells like regular potting soil, only a little better quality. Bat guano really smells and the soil doesn't smell much.
Question: What is the PH of this potting mix
Answer: So just buy 3 single packs. Some businesses just jack up the price a lot on bigger packages.
Question: Is this 1 8 qt bag or 2 4qt bags
Answer: Don’t remember, but back in 2919 they didn’t take long to arrive.
Question: How is this "Organic"? Vermiculite is a silicate. As a chemist, this is my definition of organic; (1) : of, relating to, or containing carbon compound
Answer: It would be a good height, however this is a very uncomfortable chair to sit in.
Question: How many cubic feet do you get from 8 quarts
Answer: I'm sorry, I don't know what kind of bolts they are, but the chair is sturdy. I'm not certain of the weight capacity, though.
Question: Does anyone know where it is mined and what is meant by 'organic'? I read that some vermiculite has asbestos in it
Answer: One chair
Question: What is the difference between perliet and vermiculite
Answer: it says 800 lbs, but i think 230 would be max for safty.

User questions & answers

Question: I used this for seeding pak choi. now the seedlings are about 1 inch tall but leaves start to turn yellow. do i need other fertilizer
Answer: the answer is in your question a cubic foot is 12 x 12 x 12 so 2 cubic feet are 24 x 12 x 12 so it won't fill even 1
Question: Does the packaging state that this product is sterile
Answer: The only way I can answer is to say- add the 40 bag to the weight of the pot and , for every gallon of water, add 8.3 pounds. Hope that helps.
Question: what is mycotone
Answer: The box was trashed, but the soil arrived unharmed. It was boxed pretty well. The box was crushed somewhat but that's all. Contents did arrive intact and not a disaster waiting to happen. A good transaction all the way around.
Question: what are the ingredients in this soil mix
Answer: No it does not contain peat moss. All regular organic soil.

User questions & answers

Question: what does OR4 mean
Answer: 0.26 cu ft to be exact.1 cu ft is 30 quarts
Question: Newbie! Oh my! Just repotted a baby orchid in these big chunks of wood....roots had rotted from peat moss....any advice? Thanks so much
Answer: I don't know where it was mined, but I did read up on the Vermiculite and asbestos controversy. I did square foot gardening and it was addressed in sfg forums. Basically, vermiculite is tested for asbestos by the govt and should be asbestos free. I say should, because all people arent honest.
Question: What size pot for one plant
Answer: Perlite does pretty much the exact opposite of what Vermiculite does: Perlite does not hold much water (despite what people here say), while Vermiculite retains water. You use Perlite do make soil airier and fluffier and to make it drain water faster. (For succulents, cactii etc..) Vermiculite also makes the soil less dense in some way, but as said its holding water. Perlite doesn't feel "like foam" IMO. It is light, correct, but it feels more like some type of light rock. PS: You can mix a decent potting mix with 50% perlite and 50% coarse vermiculite. Nothing else. And then give hydroponic nutrients. It is good since such a mix is sterile, doesn't attract bugs etc. like normal soil. And plants grow like crazy in it.
Question: Is there a “how to grow orchids” book
Answer: It was sterilized at the factory then fertilizers and microbes added. If you bake it you would kill the beneficial microbes in the soil mix.
