User questions & answers
Question: | Is the F-8 now made in China |
Answer: | No. I just looked on the new F-8 I bought and it is marked Swiss made. Have been using it and it works great. It was a replacement for one I had for over 25 years. |
Question: | Where are these shears made? Thank you |
Answer: | A LITTLE BACKGROUND ON FELCO- From the Felco Store WebsiteLocated in the heart of the Swiss Jura, between Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds, Felco SA is in a region that is famous for its prestigious watch manufacturers - synonymous with quality and manufacturing knowledge. It all began in 1945 when Felix Flisch, using his own drawing board, designed his first forged aluminum pruning shear and manufactured a high-quality and exceptionally durable tool adapted to its user. Time has gone by, but the same spirit and objectives remain.Designed and manufactured in Switzerland, Felco tools are made from the finest materials in accordance with rigorous manufacturing procedures. These tools are appreciated daily by millions of users all over the world. |
Question: | Just received my new pruners. Had to go to Utube to find out how to unlock. The thumb lock for blade is tight. is it ok to oil |
Answer: | Felco is one of the finest pruner made. I have been a professional gardener for 42 years. You may need to slightly loosen the locking screw on the thumb lock. You should have received a tool for doing this with your Felco pruner. You can oil any part of the pruner. If you prune shrubs or trees with a lot of sap, you should clean the sap build on the blades every few hours with a light sand paper and sharpen the blade with a Felco blade sharpener. If you sharpen on a regular basis it will only take a few seconds. Sometimes, like every few months, the pruner should be takin apart and sanded in between moving parts and oiled. I use WD40. |
Question: | I do a lot of gardening but am a med/sm woman. should i get the f6 instead? i have smaller pruning shears but need something for larger cuts |
Answer: | Th Felco F-8 is perfect for my small hands as the leverage it delivers is far better than the typical shears. My Corona are disposed of after receiving the Felco as the Corona has far inferior steel in the blade where it counts the most. The Corona also uses far to many delrin or plastic parts that fall apart in modest use. As mentioned by others, using a Felco lopper for the larger stems is a wise decision. |

User questions & answers
Question: | country of origen |
Answer: | Country of origin is Korea. |
Question: | Are these made in the US |
Answer: | If you read the description the company that makes these clippers was founded in the U.S. in the 20's and these carry a lifetime warranty. I owned my last pair for over 30 years and last year the screw that holds these shears together finally loosened up and rather than send them in under the warranty, because they still cut fine, I decided to get a second pair. They are worth the money and I highly recommend them! |
Question: | How well does spring stay on? (I had different brand in past in which spring popped off one side or other after most cuts when handles were released |
Answer: | The spring only holds the shears in the closed position. You squeeze them together and pull the catch away fro the clip. It stays free until you are done and then you squeeze the handles together and pull the catch to the clip to keep it closed. |
Question: | Are these made in USA |
Answer: | This is my Grandfather’s old company. They are from Corona, California, my home town. They used to be drop forged and made 100% in the USA, but they have changed the general operations of the company and make their tools in Mexico. While I have family reasons to have multiple opinions, these are amazing tools that work well. |
- Drop forged body and handles.
- Quality blade made of Premium Titanium steel with Ultra-fine Polishing Technology.
- Ergonomically designed non-slip handles are strong, lightweight, and comfortable.
- Sap groove design to help keep pruning shears from sticking by channeling off sap.
- Pruners can cut up to 3/4" diameter size tree branches. This may vary depending on tree species.
User questions & answers
Question: | What kind of oil do you use on these |
Answer: | No, you need to use less leverage when cutting larger branches. |
Question: | Will these work well for pruning bonzai trees |
Answer: | Yes! It worked well pass my expectations. |
Question: | What is titanium steel? i've been a metel worker for 40+ years never heard of such alloy. is it titanium coated steel |
Answer: | The blade has an anti-rust coating, but to protect it for longer use, remember to clean it up in time and spray disinfectants on the blades or branches to prevent bacterial infections. |
Question: | What is the warranty provided on these? Lifetime warranty |
Answer: | The ratchet action of this trimmer/cutter makes changing the blade much less frequent. The manufacturer or sell will replace the blade, but the postage is on you. |

How to choose the right garden pruner, Bypass or Anvil?
- With a bypass cutting tool, you draw a curved or straight blade past another blade — this creates a scissor-like motion that works well for cutting live green plants. The spongy, firm outer wall surrounding the stem yields easily to that bypass motion.Such as our product GPPS-1002 and GPPS-1003.
- With an anvil cutting tool, you bring down a straight blade against a wide anvil usually made of steel or hard rubber. Anvil pruners are better suited for dead and dried-out plants — the crushing motion causes the brittle stem to kind of explode and separate.Such as our product GPPS-1001.
Attention Please:
We offer the lifetime warranty, if there are any quality problem, please contact us with our Customer Care E-mail [email protected],, send your order number and take some photos of the product to us, we will provide a replacement to you ASAP.

Question: | What diameter pole does this accept |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are they all metal, even the handles |
Answer: | The handles are metal with a plastic coating. |
Question: | Does the rubber band lock stay on the handle when using? Or does it come off completely |
Answer: | It stays on one side of the handle, which is very useful when you want to store it in the "closed" position by reattaching the other end of the band. It's more of a strong leather-type band rather than a rubber band. |
Question: | Whats the difference between 300l-dx and hp 300 l-dx |
Answer: | I have no idea, but love my pruners, great for small jobs, roses etc.. |
Question: | Is this model made in japan? i know it says origin is japan but i've seen some of those and were just in transit from japan, made else where. thanks |
Answer: | I bought these in August 2019 on Amazon and the tool is not marked where it is made but the box clearly says "Made in Vietnam". I do like the tool but would prefer that ARS would make all of their tools in Japan of the best materials possible which I believe would produce a even better tool instead of cutting corners and having other countries make them to save money. Quality and performance is most important and ARS Japanese made tools are one of the best. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these tough enough to harvest tomatoes |
Answer: | NO its a fixed length at 37 inches. But still a great tool ! |
Question: | Is the pruner has a lock to keep it closed when not in use |
Answer: | The pole is about 16-18 inches long, i think they are perfect for that! Depending on how tall the grapes are growing you might need a step ladder if on a flat surface. They are like your hand shears but with a long reach. They are small and detailed enough for smaller vines but can cut pretty thick vines too. Use the foam grip along the pole, it slides along pole so you can control and guide where you want to cut better than just holding in one hand. You can take the grippers on the blades of with a small long screw driver to get more of a detailed prune, i take my off all the time. Good luck! Ask if any more questions! |
Question: | Would these pruners be appropriate for old dead leaves on banana trees |
Answer: | I doubt it. I can only cut things that I would otherwise cut with scissors. They work fine for cutting grass and grass-like leaves but not much else. |
Question: | Is this okay to cut small flowers with |
Answer: | It depends on your height and the length of your arms. Obviously if there are unilock walls or mounds under the tree you will be reaching farther. It is only for the smaller branches not the thicker ones of the 3/4" thickness. You can always use a step stool or a ladder to get way up and to the middle of the tree. |

Product description
Fiskars Pruning Stik Tree Pruner makes it easy to cut high or low with a level of control traditional pruners with exterior ropes can’t match. A long, lightweight pole lets you cut high branches without the hassles and dangers of using a ladder, make low cuts without sore knees from kneeling or back strain from bending and easily reach into dense, prickly shrubs or tight spots. For the reach you need to cut your highest branches, the pole extends all the way to 12 foot and locks securely. The rope-free design means you can use both hands to maximize your power and accuracy, and an easy-to-grip sliding handle makes the pruning action smooth and simple. An actuating ball at the end of the pole lets you reach even farther and still prune with precision, an included 15 inch saw blade makes it easy to take down thicker branches, and the cutting head rotates up to 230 degrees to let you prune and saw at tough angles. The fully hardened, precision-ground blade stays sharp, and a low-friction, rust-resistant coating makes every cut easier.
- Ideal for pruning high branches and reaching tight spaces
- Rope-free design gives you two-handed control and power
- Power-Stroke chain-driven gearing provides maximum cutting power
- Fully hardened steel pruning blade with non-stick coating stays sharp and cuts up to a 1¼" diameter smoothly
- Lifetime warranty
User questions & answers
Question: | What is the wgt of the unit |
Answer: | 3.8 lb. without the saw. The saw add 0.55 lb. |
Question: | How does one operate the shears part of the tool? On other products I see a squeeze handle at the base of the pole. Don't see one here |
Answer: | The orange handle on the shaft slides up and down to work the shears. When the pole saw is fully expanded and the orange handle is out of reach, there is real strong nylonish-type cable attached to handle t pull for easy operation of the shears. I find that this gives me more flexibility in my posture which is important when using for extended periods of time. This particular Fiskars tool is awesome = in my opinion the best "medium duty" pole pruner, by far for these reasons. (1) It's FAR LIGHTER than other pole pruners; if you are going to be using a pole saw for more than 15-30 minutes at a time, you're gonna love this model (2) Very sharp, and like all Fiskars tools, the blade is made from quality metal that maintains a nice sharp edge. (3) THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ONE - there is no big "knobby thing or pulley set up on the end; this makes it lighter to use but also allows you to get into tighter spaces for finer detailing. (4) The telescoping mechanism works efficiently and very easily (5) One can position the angle of the shears for cleaner, better quality cuts.. I'm a professional botanist, gardening columnist and gardening instructor, and I highly recommend this pole pruner. |
Question: | Where can I get a replacement strap for my Fiskars 9240 telescoping pruning stick |
Answer: | I sent them a request for a replacement strap for my 9240 because it frayed at the end entering the pole when fully extended. I also sent a picture. To my surprise they sent me a new one. Not just the strap but a whole new pruner. Now that’s customer service and lifetime warranty at its best. Thanks Fiaksrs |
Question: | What is the largest sized branch which can be cut with the pruning shear |
Answer: | The pruner blades measure about 1-1/8" apart so it should do up to 1" as stated in the specs. I've cut about 3/4" branches with no issues. |

Question: | Motor type |
Answer: | There are two main types. Bipass and anvil. In bipass the blades pass each other in the cutting action. The anvil sort has one 'blade' that does not move and has has no sharp edge. The cutting blade therefore only reaches as far as the static blunt section. This type is more suited to cutting strong and wooden stems. The other type to more delicate material. |
