Question:	Are there 'inserts' that can be purchased that fit this planter so you don't have to fill up entire planter with dirt
Answer:	Not that came with the planter. I filled the bottom with the packing foam then added the dirt.
Question:	I want to place my plant directly in it. My pot is 10"across and 12"deep. Will it fit inside without sticking out
Answer:	The planters are 12" across and 20" deep your plant will fit nicely indoors or outdoors.
Question:	high planters: How/with what did you fill them so that they were not ridiculously heavy? If so, what lightweight filler in bottom
Answer:	What I did was get a plastic board 1'' x 12" x 8' at home depot and cut a square out of it and made it fit half way down, making holes in the board so water could drain. You also have to get some landscape fabric and cover it so that your soil doesn't clog the holes. I put two bricks in the bottom before I put my shelf it so it wasn't top heavy. I am sure there is an easier way than I used. You might try bubble wrap covered by the landscape fabric.

Answer:	You can do either one. If you use the original pot the plant came with, make certain the ratio is correct. Example is a 10 inch potted plant placed instead a 12 inch decorative container.

Since bonsai trees can be grown in abundant or shallow soil situations, I think you could absolutely cultivate a nice, small bonsai. I love my Groot.
