| Answer: | You could use either method. The seed needs contact with the soil. The best approach is to aerate, dethatch, than overseed. This will looses the soil the most for seed to soil contact. If you have any dry hard dirt areas use a metal rake first to scratch the surface so there's some loose soil. Than its all about water!!!!! The seed needs to stay moist but not soaked. And it needs to stay moist until it germinates or it will go dormant. Watch out for birds. They eat seed. If you see them all over your lawn, either turn your sprinklers on(i control mine from my cell) or let the dogs out If you dont have dogs buy some! Or all your seed will be eaten |

| Answer: | I bought it for the heat and drought resistance of Oklahoma City, but I'm a Houston native, and most grass there is St Augustine or Bermuda. It handles the heavier rain, weed sprays needed, and is probably what is in the area already. This mix is fescue and rye, which may fill in faster, but will eventually get taken over by the other grasses. |

| Answer: | I'm no lawn pro by any means. There is tons of info on the net and I recommend everyone to do their home work. From the info I've found on the net I would recommend to use a herbicide before seeding. By killing the weeds before you will "weed" out the competition giving your new grass a better chance. When you use the herbicide you will have to wait 3-5 weeks before seeding, make sure you follow the directions of your weed killer. Best time to plant seed is early Fall or Spring in that order. In my experience in compacted, shaded clay, it's the only thing that will work. I've heard that tall fescues can do well, too (deep roots). But you're fighting an uphill battle in your environment--I just put down lawn because I rent and can't afford to invest in better landscaping. GL |
