However, it is of interest to note that hard water (high mineral content water) can cause scaling in pipes which then allows bacteria to grow and transfer into the water (note: this is not typically an issue in copper pipes). Answer:	Hi X. Wang - The short answer is no, you do not also need flower food. Our philosophy is that the longer the flowers can continue taking up water, the longer they will last. The copper charm will help stop bacteria growth and keep the cut ends clear for water absorption longer. Flower “foods” have various purposes, but in our experience they make the water cloudy and murky faster and just aren’t necessary. Hope this answer helps!
