Answer: | When they are young upto about 10 inches about 4 or 5 inch’s is ok. Just check with your hand for the heat. As they get taller adjust the height to reach the diameter so all the leaves are getting the same amount of light if possible but always make sure they aren’t getting hurt. These lights give very little heat. But read about colored grow lights. And the more light you have the better! They respond to different colors during all their different cycles of growth! Used indoors, the light looks different than other bulbs, making the area look like daylight. I'm not using it on anything fancy, just normal house plants and herbs. I have no complaints. Plants are doing well with new growth. It's the same type of bulb as "Happy Lights" use. We like them. |

Answer: | As GE replied the beam angle is 60 degrees, but there is a down side. The actual light bulb of this fixture is only 2" wide so the cast area is much smaller compared to many other similar grow lights which have a larger actual light bulb. Great fixture and better light (closer to sunlight than any other grow light bulb I have seen) but each bulb will max out at an 18" x 18" area. If you are just lighting one plant it is perfect but if you are trying to light a grow area, this is the downside. |

If you need your plants to seed, grow or flower, I would suggest red & blue. |

Answer: | The previous response was not an informed one... This bulb would only serve to illuminate a reptile's cage. It would not provide any UVB or basking light. Also note that not all reptiles benefit from a heating stone, many need a basking light bulb which will produce an appropriate heat range in a particular part of their cage. This is important so that the reptile can move to different temperatures (and out of the heat/basking light) to regulate their internal temperatures. Like wise, some reptiles need different levels of UVB light to survive, which can only be obtained by an appropriate UVB light bulb. |

Answer: | It depends on the lamp. My bulb is in a standing lamp; however, the arm of the lamp adjusts by loosening screws, adjusting the arm, and then re-tightening the screws. If your lamp has a flimsy arm, it may not work because these bulbs are heavy compared to most indoor lighting bulbs. Very effective, though! |
