Answer: Depends on the purpose and the user. For myself I like the anvil pruners for heavier stuff, but my wife likes the bypass pruners. (We run a seasonal florist business).

Answer: It has this latch about where your thumb is (if you are right handed) which you push into a notch on the back of the blade. You need to push it firmly, with your thumb, to engage it. It disengages easily by squeezing the handles and pulling it out by sliding the thumb over the latch. Although not part of your question, a negative I have with the pruner is this notch should be larger as the latch occasionally disengages while in my pocket.

That said, it depends entirely on your hand strength and the hardness of the wood--since they are short there is little leverage advantage. I would say I can cut a 1.5" live fir branch pretty easily, but my wife would have some trouble over an inch. And with really hard wood an inch might be about the limit...

Answer: I bought a cheaper model made by Gonicc 20 years ago. They were the most reliable shears I ever had, I cut many green brier and shrub with them; I still use them. They had a hard plastic handle, it cracked and I reinforced it with metal and continue to use them. They have not rusted but I do not leave them in the weather. I bought the new pair because of the name, they are made of metal. These have the characteristics of the first pair but they are metal and more ergonomic. They are great shears so far but I haven't had them a year yet. I recommend them highly.

Answer: Hi l have roses in my garden also , and use the Gonicc 8 pruning shears . I have not had any problem when using them to prune . They are new l recently bought them and so far am impressed with them they are light weight compared to the brand l used to buy. Answer: This is a great question! When you open the pruners wide to make a large cut and then squeeze the handles, the pruner makes it about 1/3 of the way through the branch, release and depress again and it goes about 2/3's through and on the final "stage" or "squeeze", the branch is finally cut through. Each of these three squeezes or 'Stages" takes less hand pressure to complete and this is the purpose of the ratchet mechanism, to make pruning easier for each cut. Occasionally it will take four stages or cuts to complete. Bottom line, easier on the hands, and this is the whole purpose of this tool, to make hard cuts easier and reduce pressure and strain on the hands. Answer: Sorry, there is no replacement blade for this product.
Question: What is the limited lifetime warranty? My 8/18/19 pair stopped working
Answer: I don't know what the warranty says, but it should last longer than a year I would think, unless you used them extensively during the year. But I would think that with normal wear and tear it should work longer than a year.

Answer: I don't know. It is not written on the tool. It is a very good ratchet pruner though.

Answer: I would take a nail set and hammer on solid surface will tighten them up in a second

Question: How can i get mine repaired
Answer: I would say it will work on some fish. Smaller fish such as bass and trout should work well but large fish with tougher fins might be a struggle. Also, these aren't stainless steel so rust could be a problem.

Answer: You can cut over an inch diameter my rotating the cutter with open jaws around the branch. The sharp cutting blade will slice through the branch.

Answer: Amazon's product description (as of 2014/11) now states: "The 9109 Bypass Pruner is made in China." Along with: "Fiskars is a global company with manufacturing locations all over the world, including several places in the US. Many of Fiskars' blades are stainless steel. Answer: Can be done with a dremmel tool with a small grinding wheel. A small sharp flat file, a hand knife sharpening stone, or other similar tools

Answer: Taiwan. We have our original one, it was made in Finland. Looks the same but time will tell if it is as good. Original one is more than 15 yes old. Hope this helps.

Answer: I just got a brand new replacement set after going to the Fiskars website product page and clicking on Warranty Claim. Sent a picture with my claim of the broken blade about 2 weeks ago and forgot about it and was surprised to find some new loppers in my box. I think it would be cool if I could just have 2 or 3 blades on hand, but I guess you can't complain when they do no questions asked replacement.
