User questions & answers

Question: Leather or nylon sheath? Reviews and product description were conflicting
Answer: It only comes with the fabric. Cheapest way to make hoops is to buy a roll of heavy gauge wire from a farm supply store and cut your own. Orschelens has a roll for about 12.00. One circle cut off the roll will make a row hoop about 3' wide or so and a fabric that's 7ft wide should cover it. Buy the wider fabric and you can also cut it too size if you want to. Just be sure you have enough to pile dirt or something heavy along the sides of the rows so the wind wont blow it away.
Question: Where was this product manufactured
Answer: I don’t. I live in New York and it stays on all winter. Water goes through it so no need to water. I use it mainly to prevent deer from eating the branches.
Question: I just received the machete and it looks and feel great. Does anyone know the type of metal its made from
Answer: Not sure. We live in the desert in West Texas, it dropped into the 20’s and my plants were fine, but not sure about colder temperatures
Question: Can it kill a walker
Answer: I put one around a large hanging fern and one around a spider plant. Both were in 16”diameter moss lined hanging baskets- hope that reference helps. I would measure but they’re still packed away

Question: How does this do cracking coconuts
Answer: I have never cracked a coconut with it. I'm sure it will do a good job. The weight is right and the blade is rigid. The handle is also good. Its not one of those flimsy blades that flex all over the place. it's also easy to sharpen. Hope this helps, good luck. I love mine.
Question: How do i put on the sheath
Answer: Unzip it, put in blade, zip it back up
Question: What country is this made
Answer: China
Question: this is a full tang handle

User questions & answers

Question: what color is the blade is it sliver or black
Answer: Yea it does Kinda...but You could put a better edge on it tho..
Question: how long is the blade
Answer: While hail would probably not go through the fabric, the fabric would have to be on a Frame to support it above the plants, else the hail would still damage the plants.
Question: What material is the sheath made of? I need to paint it black so I want to know what it is
Answer: It is water permeable but I suppose it would depend what's under it. Something newly planted may need more direct watering. My established blueberry bushes did fine.
Question: Is the blade silver or black? The picture shows silver, but some reviews say they got black
Answer: YES, the row cover can prevent small insects.

ESEE Libertariat

The Libertariat Machete was designed by John Armstrong as a lightweight tropical survival knife exclusively for Expat Knives, a division of ESEE Knives. It offers adventurers a full-tang SAE 1075 steel blade in a rugged Condor Classic finish. A tapered walnut handle provides a secure and comfortable grip during use. Get your hands on the limited run Libertariat, and tackle the wild with confidence.

Care/Maintenance: ESEE carbon steel knives are made from SAE 1075 steel. SAE 1075 is a top choice for professional cutlery designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly cared for – especially on the cutting edge and around the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH.

  • Ships in Own Container

User questions & answers

Question: What the thickness of the blade is
Answer: I am not sure but I believe it is 16"-18". I would not exactly classify it as a blade. Perhaps it is a chunk of dull steel. It does not hold an edge for even two or three minutes. I was not able to cut anything with it. I bought another machete and use the scabbard that come with this one for the real machete that I bought. Do yourself a favor and don't spend the money.
Question: is it made in america
Answer: Paper thin canvas. Don't buy this piece of garbage. Get the Ontario Knife version for another $10, and you will be amazed at the difference. The Coleman machete feels like a child's toy by comparison (I own both).
Question: Is it full tang
Answer: Black this is garbage. It does not hold an edge for ten minutes. Spend a little bit more and get a car better product.

User questions & answers

Question: Does anyone know where this knife is made specifically when it is imported
Answer: Supposedly you can use a stick or dowel through the hole to act as a second grip. Using both hands you can use the blade as a draw knife.
Question: What's the difference between this and the cheaper k920kkpc (seems to be a prime member exclusive
Answer: Absolutely, it’s covered by ESEE’s lifetime warranty.
Question: is it similar steel to cold steel blades
Answer: No, the grind lines wound not be ideal for slicing brisket. It is more suited for brush, small tree limbs. The Victorinox 12 Inch Fibrox Pro Slicing Knife with Granton Blade would be a much better choice
Question: Is the blade traditional (tip fine work, middle chopping, extra fine work near handle
Answer: Mine was black. It was an inexpensive item and the blade holds an edge just about like you would expect for an item of this price.

User questions & answers

Question: On this blade and some of Shrade's other ones I have seen complaint and pictures of breakage. Has this issue been resolved
Answer: 1/4" but I've cut through some thick stuff with it
Question: Is the handle long enough for a two handed grip? Thanks for answering, in advance
Answer: The machete itself does not state exactly where it's made. From my research about Gerber they state they still make many of their knives in Portland, Oregon since 1939. The small leaflet doesn't state where it is exatly made either. I hope and assume it is made in Portland. Hope this answers your question.
Question: Weight of Machete
Answer: I would have to say no. There Gator Bolo is listed as full tang. This one is not. So far I haven’t had any issues with mine. The Bolo is quite a bit more money than this one.
Question: What is the blade length, how sharp did it come
Answer: How big is the hole. Lol.. I got it as a gift. Will ask my friend and get back to you.

User questions & answers

Question: So a buddy gave me one of these today. My guess is its rocking Gerbers awesome Mystery steel
Answer: The blade, handle, and sheath display nothing as to country of manufacture. On the back of the box, in small letters, it says "Product of China," with "Printed in China" under that. Don't know if that is about the machete or the box. The quality of the machete and sheath is quite good. It has been used for brush clearing, and so far has performed admirably. There are some good heavy duty testing videos on YouTube which are worth the watch if you are considering purchasing one.
Question: Where is this product made
Answer: this is a great knife and I clear my ditch three times a year. the grip is very good!
Question: Is this full tang
Answer: That's hard to say since cold steel uses a lot of different types of steels in their knife making; including 1055 High carbons. The CRKT uses 65Mn steel which is probably equivalent to 1065 high carbon steel. Hope that helps.
Question: Is it better or stronger/harder blade than gerber gator machete jr [31-000759]? i don't know wich one to buy! thanks
Answer: The knife will come uniformly sharp, end to end. You can sharpen the tip and the area near the handle to be more acute. Thats what I do with all machetes and large choppers. I always spend about 2 hours doing that to a new blade.Shea, the areas mentioned need to be sharper than the chopping area so that fine carving and cutting can be done.
