User questions & answers
Question: | What is the Weight of this Lopper |
Answer: | I think that the weight was listed in the description info. As a male, it is a comfortable weight, but could be a little heavy for a smaller female, especially if working overhead. |
Question: | This says "new Model". What is the difference from previous 18" power gear model |
Answer: | These are more sturdy. But this Power Gear 2 weighs about twice as much as the original Power Gear. Really disappointing that you can't find the original any more. |
Question: | Are the blades replaceable |
Answer: | I was able to find and purchase replacement blades for the original PowerGear. Shipping was high so I ordered 5 to save money but with propper care and light filing I have only used 2 after 1yr of heavy business use.Fiskars blades only have a 1/8in blade overlap (allows more cutting capacity) so they must be just slightly sharpened and they work fine. My dad tried to sharpen his chipped blade and took too much off and ruined it.Just don't cut roots in dirt, too dry limbs, chain link fencing, or twist the blade. I find my employees always try cutting roots without properly cleaning them (roots) and it ALWAYS dulls or chips the blades, even if you think it wouldn't. I have to threaten employees to pay for damage and then they treat them better. |
Question: | Is this newer model worth $7 more than the prior model ($43 vs |
Answer: | The small improvements do make it worth the extra money. This is a highly effective tool that is easy on your hands and back. I would pay more than the listed price using this on fairly large locust branches recently without any problem. This is the best lopper made. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What type of warranty is there with these? I have a pair and the handle came apart from the blade. What suggestions do you have for me |
Answer: | I dont know anything about the warranty. You might want to ask Amazon customer service. I have done a lot of tree trimming with mine and they have held up great so far. |
Question: | Can I use these in a very long battle with honeysuckle? Will they hold up to years of cutting the vine at ground level? I'll be making many many cuts |
Answer: | I can't say how long they'd last and I guess how well it would cut your honeysuckle at the base depends on how thick that is, but I've been very happy with the cutting power of the loppers I bought. They don't require a lot of strength to use in proportion to the size of branch they'll cut. I'm very happy with them. |
Question: | Can anyone tell me how long the handles are? Thank you |
Answer: | The handles are 22" long. I highly recommend this lopper! I had rotator cuff surgery in 2002 and still have to watch stress to the joint. This is a perfect cutter that requires very little effort or extension. |
Question: | Where are these loppers made? I hate how amazon doesn't show that many times |
Answer: | Made in China. Lifetime warranty from Fiskars home off. Madison Wi. My 8 ft. to 16 ft. Fiskars tree pruner broke. I contacted office. Fed-Xd new $95 pruner to Hawaii. No Charge! |

Product description
The first time you try Fiskars PowerGear Lopper, you’ll be amazed — but it’s not magic, it’s gears. Fiskars patented gear technology multiplies your leverage to give you up to three times more power on every cut. This means you can power through thick branches that you wouldn’t be able to cut with traditional loppers. It also means that our lopper can be lighter than other loppers, reducing strain on your hands, wrists and muscles when you’re reaching to cut a branch or have a lot of branches to cut. PowerGear tools — the perfect choice for anyone who appreciates tools that make work easier.
Cutting-Edge Design
When pruning, the weight of the tool and the position of the hand and fingers can cause tension and stress, resulting in muscle and joint strain. When ergonomics are given prime importance in design, the result is products that require less muscle power and reduce joint strain.
The goal of the Fiskars' design team was to increase power, reduce effort and minimize weight – in short, to make pruning easier. The solution was a totally new gear mechanism that provides maximum leverage near the middle of the cut, when resistance is the greatest. That means a more compact tool can cut with a fraction of the effort required by larger single-pivot tools.
The use of reinforced fiberglass composite materials (FiberComp) allowed for lighter handles to further reduce strain and fatigue while maintaining strength and durability.

User questions & answers
Question: | what is collapsed length of handles? and what is extended length of handles? Thanks |
Answer: | I find it useful for when you need to be close up to someone. Its a fairly fast lens. Interviews would work well, but if you're doing anything landscape I recommend getting a 50 if since you have a cropped camera. Having both the 50 and the 24 is also convenient. (I just finished a documentary) Have fun and good luck :) |
Question: | Are they heavy? I'm 71 years old and have arthritis |
Answer: | Any Canon lens with the EF designation will work with the Canon 5D Mark I. |
Question: | what is the country of origin on this product |
Answer: | The Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM has better glass and Image Stabilization. It has 11 elements in 9 groups. Whereas, the Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM has 6 elements in 5 groups and does not have Image Stabilization. The EF-S 24mm lens does have a Stepping Motor though. This causes the lens to focus very rapidly and is especially good for video. This is my best explanation of the price difference between the two lenses. |
Question: | Can anyone tell me the difference/ improvement between the powergear and powergear2 models 32 in bypass fiskers loppers.Website is frustrating/useless |
Answer: | EF 24mm STM is designed for APSC dlsr. The image circle cannot cover the full-frame sensor and, also it cannot be mounted on full frame dlsr, such as 5d3, 6d. EF 24mm is usm is a full frame lens and it has image stabilization. Definitely, later is better. Which to buy depends on your budget and what camera you have. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the weight of the GG12 Tabor lopper |
Answer: | Weighed on a Moultrie Digital Game Scale at 3.6 pounds or 1.6 Kilograms |
Question: | Are the handles steel or fiberglass |
Answer: | These loppers have steel handles |
Question: | Do your knuckles smash together with these pruners? Or is there enough clearance |
Answer: | Absolutely NOT! These things totally rock. The mechanical advantage you get with them makes them go through thick branches like a hot knife through butter- even if you are a 5'1" 68 year old lady like me. I have their hedge shears, and they are so good, I bought these. I don't think there is a human alive that would bat their knuckles together with these. As shown, in the photo, the blades are closed. I love Tabor Tools. |
Question: | Is this better than the Cindy Lauper |
Answer: | While Cindy was a cutting edge artist in her day. She no longer seems as sharp. That being said, it is not fair to compare the two. |
Product features
Excellent tool for both green and hard/dry wood
This tool was designed with comfort and functionality in mind, featuring ergonomically contoured grips, innovative mechanisms, and coated blades for a sharper, longer lasting cut.
Because of their design, anvil loppers can often cut thicker branches than bypass. Anvil lopper have one straight blade that cuts as it closes onto a flat edge or ‘anvil’ (think about it like a knife on a chopping board). This makes an anvil lopper an excellent tool for trimming back live wood before making a final, clean cut with bypass loppers.
- GG12A Anvil Loppers are meant for pruning both hard green and dry/woody growth
- Cuts branches up to a diameter of 2”
- Suitable for cut-to-length work
- Suitable for preparatory cuts before making a final, clean cut with bypass loppers.
GG12A - There's no cut you can't make!
Compound Action System
The compound lever system with multiple pivot points and moving parts increases the force applied to the blades. The compound action blade has multiple moving parts which multiplies the force applied to the blades 3 times!
A Clean, smooth cut
The anvil mechanism works like this: the upper blade is narrower and sharper. The wide anvil distributes pressure and supports the branch in order to avoid damaging or crushing the bark. A curved head or swiveling anvil provides an easier cutting action close to the joint.
- Dynamic compound action mechanism
- Makes clean cuts with less resistance
- Perfect for cutting tougher, larger and harder branches

User questions & answers
Question: | How does this lopper compare with the Fiskars |
Answer: | The model pictured does not collapse/extend/telescope, the length of the handles are fixed a d do not adjust. it swings open and closed like most all other loppers. You must purchase a pair by their length. The "power gear" leverage is the best available and longer handles are easier to cut larger branches. The extending/telescoping model is the Fiskars 25-37 Inch Extendable Power-Lever Lopper (9168). |
Question: | Are these loppers made in the US |
Answer: | They are not heavy. The long handles are made from aluminum. This cutter does not require much effort to cut. The quality s good although I had to loosen the nut that assembles the blades because it was not comfortable to open the cutter. Be aware also that because of the gear, the handles must be moved over a long distance: the centers of the orange grips are 125 cm (49") apart when the cutter is completely open to cut a branch of 5 cm (2"). |
Question: | it lopper comes up when you ask for titanium lopper, but it doesn't have the copper color blade that the one at home depot does. Is it really titanium |
Answer: | The label on my Fiskars lopper says "made in China," but I would not discount the quality of this product because of that. As with all manufactured products regardless of where they are made, the quality of the end product is a result of the design specifications, the materials used, the manufacturing specifications, the inspection processes throughout, and the final quality assurance inspections. The product I have is not made cheaply and has a lifelong warranty, made for Fiskars Brands, a company located in Madison, WI. The Fiskars corporate headquarters are located in Helsinki, Finland, where they originated in 1649. |
Question: | how does using this compare to using the power gear bypass loppers --let's say, the 25 inch or longer |
Answer: | The original powergear is much lighter and easier to use. The powergear 2 is more substantial but the larger head is harder to get into tighter spaces. Our trail crews prefer the lighter powergear as they are easier to carry and use for an extended period of time. If your use is mostly at home or in the garden, either will work well. |

Telescoping Power-Lever Bypass Lopper
- Manufacturer: Fiskars
User questions & answers
Question: | What do these loppers weight? the description says 24.4 pounds I hope that’s not right |
Answer: | In the extended mode the handles start out about 10” apart when closed. When fully opened to accept a large branch the handles are about 45” apart. Of course the smaller the branch the less you have to open. The leverage you obtain in the extended mode makes it easy to cut through thick branches. I’m quite pleased with this cutter. |
