If the heater still is barely warm, it's possibly defective and might need to be returned. It won't get as hot as a heat lamp but it should be warmer than being able to put it right onto your face.

Answer:	I had my baby ducks outside in a large covered crate with this inside. It didn't matter the outside temperature if they were able to snuggle under this incubator. It worked great for me even in cold, wet, rainy weather. So it doesn't matter how cold the barn gets as long as this is in a sheltered, dry place.

Answer:	Obviously, you need electricity for starters.. I guess how drafty it is could be an issue. If it wasn't drafty, I would say it would be successful if you set it up correctly. The plate is what gets warm, so they gather under and above it. The area surrounding the plate does not get particularly warm. I would say 20-30 chicks would be the most I would do per heating plate, if they were in a barn. I went from a heating lamp to this, and plan to do my next batch in the barn after using this. (We usually raise them inside our house when we start them out.) It does get very cold where I live.

Answer:	It is just a thermostat. It works with anything heat outputting, like a heating lamp. The probe senses the temperature and turns the power on or off to whatever you plug into it.

Answer:	There is only one outlet on the thermostat. However, being that the thermostat is rated for 1000 watts, you can connect a power strip and connect multiple heating mats provided you do not exceed the units power rating. Just to be safe, I wouldn't plug in more than half the rated power (i.e. 500 watts). But for those 17 watt heating mats, that's a lot of mats!

Answer:	Suggest you look at the amperage label on the unit and purchase a generic charger from Amazon that matches.

Answer:	I have 12 under an Ecoglow 20 right now. They are 15 days old and JUST fit. I had 14 to start at 4 days old and MAYBE 6 more would have fit. The MFR states that you have to account for temperature in the space you have your enclosure (no colder than 50° F), you should keep the brooder next to a wall, etc, etc. My suggestion is that a beginner should not try to raise more than TEN chicks to 5 or 6 weeks with this as your sole heat source. 20 may fit at Day 1, but unless you know what you're doing, you won't get 20 successfully through day 35 or 42 with weather issues if you're not experienced....

Answer:	If you are asking about winter storage for your car to keep it from getting musty, that might work. Sort of like heat sticks for gun safes and pianos for the dampness. If your asking about living in your car, it wouldn't be warm enough for me.

Answer:	I have mine in a cat house with towels and a cat bed around it. The towels touch it. It's uncomfortably hot to touch on high, but doesn't burn my hand so I felt it was safe. I've not had any issues with it so far.

Answer:	The answer to both questions is No according to the instructions. I did place mine on a wall so the chickens don't poop on it. It sits just above their heads while roosting. It also heats objects. Also it will only heat to about 45 degrees which is the highest temp you want for chickens. If the chickens get too hot they move away from it. The panel is not hot but warm to the touch. I find it to be very safe easy to install. Haven't had -30 degree weather yet. It has been in the 20's here at night and I really do love the product. Safe for everyone.
Question:	When will the built in thermastate turn on and shut off
Answer:	I couldn’t find this information either so I emailed the company and asked. This is their reply “Thank you for your inquiry. The internal thermostat does not automatically shut the unit off or on; it only regulates the temperature of the unit to maintain 140F. The unit will ONLY shut off if it overheats to above 180F; this product must be manually turned on and off.”

How are you measuring the temperature? Where are you placing your thermometer to get this reading. If you press your hand against the heater plate can you feel the warmth? The Vrooder does not warm the area below the heater it is designed for the birds to huddle underneath and the warmth goes into them by pressing against it. Hopefully this helps.

Answer:	With the wattage and amperage it says it can supply it should easily be able to handle 2 lamps. Just run a strip off the plug and only have them 2 lamps controlled by the thermostat. AGAIN, as long as it will handle what they say it can handle. A 100watt bulb should only pull just under 1 amp.

Answer:	Hello and thank you for your question. This product is 11 inches wide, by 40 inches long, by 3 inches tall, so it would definitely fit. I understand that heating retiles/snakes requires a certain amount of heat, so I would suggest connecting our heater to a thermostat (like Zilla) to regulate heat output. You will also need a vent or covered opening so a certain amount of heat will be allowed to escape. This heater is intended to heat a specific area (or what is underneath), but in a tank, it will definitely heat the air as well.
