14 best electric poultry netting

Electric poultry netting is a type of fencing commonly used in agricultural and poultry farming settings. It is designed to provide containment and protection for poultry, such as chickens, turkeys, and other small livestock, while also deterring predators from entering the enclosure. Here are some key features and information about electric poultry netting:

  1. Electric Deterrent: Electric poultry netting is equipped with electric strands or wires that deliver a mild electric shock to any animal that comes into contact with it.This electric shock is typically harmless but serves as a powerful deterrent to both predators and poultry attempting to escape.

  2. Versatile Design: Electric poultry netting comes in various designs and sizes to accommodate different flock sizes and types of poultry. It often consists of lightweight, portable sections that can be easily moved and set up to create temporary enclosures.

  3. Effective Predator Control: One of the primary purposes of electric poultry netting is to protect poultry from predators like foxes, raccoons, and birds of prey. The electric shock discourages these animals from attempting to breach the fence.

  4. Easy Installation: Installing electric poultry netting is relatively straightforward. Most systems come with step-by-step instructions for assembly and connecting the electric components. Typically, it involves inserting posts into the ground and attaching the netting to create a secure enclosure.

  5. Portability: The portable nature of electric poultry netting makes it ideal for rotational grazing systems or for providing temporary enclosures in different areas of a farm or pasture.

  6. Maintenance: Regular maintenance is required to ensure the system functions correctly. This includes checking for damage to the netting, ensuring proper grounding of the electric wires, and keeping the fence free from vegetation that could short-circuit the electric charge.

  7. Battery or Solar-Powered: Electric poultry netting systems are usually powered by rechargeable batteries or solar panels, making them energy-efficient and cost-effective in the long run.

  8. Legal Considerations: Depending on your location, there may be regulations governing the use of electric fencing, including poultry netting. It's essential to familiarize yourself with local laws and regulations before installing such a system.

  9. Training: When introducing poultry to electric netting for the first time, it's important to train them to understand the boundaries and the electric charge. This can usually be achieved through gradual exposure and supervision.

Electric poultry netting is an effective and flexible solution for protecting poultry and managing their movement in agricultural settings. It helps farmers safeguard their flocks from potential threats while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to changing farming needs.

RentACoop Poultry Netting Electric Fence (48" H x 164' L)

Based on 200 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Poultry Netting Electric Fence (48" H x 164' L)

  • 🐓 Keeps predators and unwanted animals out (Stray Dogs, Fox, Raccoons, Bears, Wolves, Rabbits , Skunks etc.) and keeps your Poultry safe and enclosed (Chickens, Peafowl, Ducks, Geese, etc. )
  • 🐓 Energizer is not included - DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT AN ENERGIZER - We recommend 1/4 Joules of Energy Per Every 164' Roll - Use only low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizers. Warning! Do NOT use continuous current energizers with electric netting.
  • 🐓 Very easy to set up - Posts are pre-fastened to fence making setup less than 15 minutes - Stakes are placed every 12 Feet (Any less is unnecessary because this kit includes four guy-lines which prevent fence from sagging) Watch video to see the crisp lines of the fence
  • 🐓 Double spiked posts provide extra support - Trimming grass and vegetation along the line of the fence is a must. When vegetation touches the horizontal wires of the fence, the current is lowered. If enough vegetation is touching the fence, it will render the fence useless. We recommend purchasing a fence tester and keeping your fence above 3000 Volts to prevent predators

User questions & answers

Question: Do you have to make a square for this to work? Or would it work in a L shape
Answer: An L shape or any shape for that matter is just fine. You don't need to connect the 2 ends together in order for the fence to produce a strong charge. An L or a Square produce the same charge. The RentACoop Team
Question: What keeps predators from digging under
Answer: Nothing, they will likely get hit by the power 1st trying to go through the fence but if they are persistent enough (dogs most likely) they will dig under. I have not had an issue with a dog digging under but many have been zapped by the fence and ran away.
Question: Are you able to connect more than one roll together
Answer: Yes, you can connect many rolls together. The more rolls you connect the more powerful your box will need to be. The RentACoop Team
Question: Would this be effective in keeping squirrels out by surrounding my fruit trees
Answer: I would doubt it. In order to get the shock, an animal has to be in contact with the ground and fence at the same time. If the squirrels jump on the fence, they won’t get shocked.

Premier PoultryNet Electric Fence, 48" H x 164' L, Double Spiked, White

Based on 182 reviews Check latest price
  • Keeps in poultry, sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs. Keeps out deer, bear, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks.
  • It's a 48" electrifiable prefabricated fence. It arrives at your door as a complete roll with posts built into the mesh/fence.
  • Very easy to set up. Takes approximately 15 minutes to set up. Premier also recommends using non-conductive support posts at ends, corners and major directional changes. See Premier 48" FiberTuff posts (Item 208055) on Amazon. We prefer using support posts versus guy-lines at the fence corners, as they do not require removal when mowing and trimming around the fence. Important to perform routine vegetation maintenance to minimize grass/weed load on the fence and reduce energy drain.
  • Double spiked posts for added stability. Double spikes work best in moist and/or soft soil.
  • FENCE MUST BE PROPERLY ENERGIZED TO BE EFFECTIVE. Energizer is not included. Recommend approximately .25 joule of energizer per roll of fence. Use only low or wide impedance intermittent pulse energizers. Warning! Do NOT use continuous current energizers with electric netting. For optimum results, we recommend using a Premier Solar or AC/DC energizer that fits your specific needs.

48" PoultryNet Electric Fence

Keeps in chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry while keeping their ground-based predators out. Recommended for active, flighty birds. The taller 48" net is more likely to discourage large predators such as coyotes. Keeps out deer, bear, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks.

Quick and Simple

Netting is quick and simple to move. Even for new users, it takes less than 10 minutes to go from out-of-the-box netting to installed fence.

Double Spike

Double spikes are for very soft soils. Push in the spikes with your foot. If soil is hard or rocky, double spikes are more difficult to install and remove.

Backyard Flock

Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.

Other Livestock

Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs.

Electrify Your Fence

Electrifying the fence with an energizer is essential. For the fence to be effective at keeping out predators, it must be electrified to deter them from the flock.

Energizers sold separately.

User questions & answers

Question: Do the fence ends have to come together or can you put it a half circle or straight line
Answer: Yes. You could just strap them together end to end or side by side. Just leave the chicken wire off between where you attach them.
Question: how many fences will the energizer work for? I would like to connect 2 of your 100' fences
Answer: We do not ship to Mexico for orders placed through Amazon. We may be able to assist you, if you contact Premier 1 Supplies directly.
Question: Would this work for cattle
Answer: You are energizing the fence to also repel non-flying predators.
Question: Your product description says warning! do not use continuous current energizers with electric netting. how long can it be used
Answer: The net is 48 inches high and 164 feet long. Thank you for making us aware of the omission.

Product features

Includes

  • 100 ft roll of 48" PermaNet Plus double spike electric netting creates a 25' x 25' enclosure.
  • 4 48" FiberTuff support posts
  • Solar IntelliShock 60 fence energizer with U-Spike ground stake (combination ground rod and support stand) and wiring harness.
  • 5-Light Wireless Fence Tester

Benefits

Starter kit contains all the essentials to fence a small flock of birds.

Effective as a semi-permanent boundary or subdivision fence. Can also be used for sheep, goats and other livestock.

Electric netting is quick to install, durable and adaptable to dips and curves in difficult terrain.

Common Uses

  • Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry for a month or more at a time.
  • To prevent raccoons, foxes, opossums, coyotes, bears, dogs, skunks and other ground-based predators from attacking poultry.
  • As a perimeter fence to exclude small critters and deer from gardens, fruit orchards and tree plantings.
  • For backyard, boundary or subdivision fences that will be moved infrequently.
  • Can be used to contain and control livestock other than poultry, such as sheep, goats, cattle and guard dogs.

Precautions

Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. The first time you put the animals in the net, you should be available to watch them for a while. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.

Netting must be moved when tall grass covers the lower “hot” strands. The alternative? Apply a strip of herbicide to kill vegetation.

Specifications: PermaNet Plus 12/48/3 Starter Kit

PermaNet Plus 12/48/3 is a 48" electrifiable prefabricated fence. It arrives at your door as a complete roll with the double spike posts already built into the mesh/fence. Features 12 horizontals strands (11 electrified) with vertical struts placed every 3". “Plus” nets include additional line posts spaced every 6'8" to reduce sag

FiberTuff Posts provide additional support around curves, corners and other major directional changes. Use at end posts to help maintain tension on the fence.

The Solar IntelliShock 60 fence energizer will electrify 3-5 rolls of electric netting depending on soil conditions and vegetation.

Use the 5-Light Wireless Fence Tester to determine if your fence system is working properly. At the end of the net, the approximate voltage should measure at least 3,000V.

Starkline Electric Poultry Netting 42" x 164' - Green Chicken Electric Fencing

Product description

Starkline Electric Netting for Poultry

Specifications:

  • 164' (L) x 42" (H)
  • White / Blue Color
  • 15 Fiberglass Posts with Galvanized Double-Spiked Stakes
  • Repair Kit Included

Features:

Starkline Poultry Netting assembly is quicker and easier than conventional electric fencing. Periodically moving the enclosure means your chickens will not completely wear out one area. Chickens need "clean" grass and dirt to maintain their hygiene. Access to fresh grass allows chickens to clear out many unwanted pests such as ticks, ladybugs, and mice!

Notes:

Use only Low Impedance energizers on netting. Old-fashioned "weed burners" will start a fire. Adequate grounding is very important to the success of the electric fence system. If you're not getting consistent voltage on the fence, try pouring a bucket of water on and around your ground rod.

  • 42" Tall x 164' Long
  • 15 Posts with Double-Spiked Hot-Dipped Galvanized Stakes
  • Vertical Strands Spaced Every 3"
  • Designed for Chickens, Geese, Ducks, and other Poultry

User questions & answers

Question: is it white and blue or green? title and description say both
Answer: I purchased 5' metal posts from Lowes for less than $4 each. If you can wait a week or two for shipping, there were some under 3 on amazon.

  • Premier also recommends using non-conductive support posts at ends, corners and major directional changes. See Premier 48" FiberTuff posts (Item 208055) on Amazon. We prefer using support posts versus guy-lines at the fence corners, as they do not require removal when mowing and trimming.
User questions & answers

Question: Would this work for bull calves
Answer: Funny you should ask that question! I sent for the package (1 package) of 50 fence posts. You can imagine my surprise when I received just one post! That was one expensive post. I'm hoping the sender will see this and send all 50 this time since I re-orded today. The '1' meant one package and was put in the order automatically.
Question: in addition to fence netting and energizer is there anything else needs such as additional posts which would strengthen the fence
Answer: The above ground height of the post is 38 inches.
Question: I have only five chickens and won't to let them run out some but the length is a lot, do you have a shorter fence for a small flock
Answer: A pole that measures 4 feet high will work.
Question: Does the netting need to be connected at start and endpoint, or can it be used in a straight line? only need to fence in 1 long side
Answer: I would say yes. Ive used the same roll and pieces from the roll for 6 yrs now with very little tear. Ive used it as fencing, trellis and it does great.

Benefits

Netting is quick and simple to move. Even for new users, it takes less than 10 minutes to go from out-of-the-box netting to installed fence.

No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening.

With proper care, netting should last 5-7 years.

Plus Nets

For fences that involve curves, corners and directional change, or when aesthetics are a concern, “Plus” nets include additional line posts to reduce sag. Line posts are spaced every 6'8" (vs. 10' for standard 48" PoultryNet).

Each roll is a complete fence with the posts already built into the mesh/fence. One roll (100 ft) weighs only 23 lbs.

Common Uses

  • Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis.

Features 12 horizontal strands that are spaced closely at bottom of fence creating 2 in. x 3 in. mesh openings and progressively increase in spacing towards the top. User questions & answers

Question: Can You power this off of your existing electric fence? I have a hot wire fence around most of my property but want temporary fencing in some areas
Answer: My rooster has chased away hawks twice now. I also use fluorescent string that I attach between plow stakes that create a confusing illusion that hawks from above can’t figure out how to land. Haven’t lost a chicken yet.
Question: Does this come with the posts included
Answer: It may work when they are quite young. It is reasonably sturdy (but I'm using it for chickens), but I'd be concerned about the durability with cattle. Also, with my set-up 4 100' fences and 1 solar charger, the shock is not very strong. I'll be upgrading the charger soon. With one fence and the solar charger the shock is definitely more prominent but not as strong as a typical wire set-up.
Question: can we use a Zareba 15 mile Solid State Fence Charger to energize this fence
Answer: The PoultryNet Plus does have additional posts versus our standard PoultryNet, but we do still recommend using additional non-conductive support posts at the ends, corners or major directional changes for additional support. Posts like our item 208055 - 48" FiberTuff posts, which are designed for use with our netting.
Question: does these nettings come with the eletric box
Answer: We have item 208437 - 48" Electric Chicken Net listed on Amazon. It is 82 ft in length and yellow in color. We would recommend using non-conductive support posts, such as item 208055 - FiberTuff posts, at the ends, corners and major directional changes for additional support. We do have our item 207105 - 48" PermaNet Plus in 50 ft. lengths, but unfortunately it is not available on Amazon. You can see it on the Premier 1 Supplies site.

User questions & answers

Question: How big are the openings
Answer: The holes measure approx. 5"x6", which is big enough for my chickens to fit through, but would be fine for larger poultry and mammals. The net is also a little short, my ducks were able to jump over without a problem.
Question: What is the energizer shock required
Answer: I run my fence with a .07 joule energizer, I think the running voltage of something like that is around 3,000-5,000 volts.
Question: Can this be connected to a motorcycle battery with a timer
Answer: Unless you have a voltage booster, no. This net runs off of a energizer which pumps out ~3,000-5,000 V. You can buy a cheap one like I've got for $30
Question: What is the wire gage
Answer: actual wire that holds the current is very small, 22-24 ..it's wrapped around a nylon cord

User questions & answers

Question: Does the 3rd picture show 2 of these fences? It seems a rather larger area for 69 foot!? TY
Answer: Yes, 5 feet tall
Question: Does it have a net on top? Like to protect from hawks, etc
Answer: If you dog jumps on it or chews it (because it is a plastic poly fence) it will not last. If it is just a visual barrier then yes. It keeps my dogs in the yard and the other dogs out. It really depends on the animal but it is a light weight fence.
Question: The gate pole doesn’t seem to fit not the gate plate. I can not figure it out
Answer: We used it for a fence to keep animals out of our garden. Heavy trellis plants may pull it down. Snap peas maybe.
Question: Can you fasten avian netting over the top
Answer: Plastic fencing will not keep squirrels out of a garden unless you place thousands of small poisonous bamboo stakes along both sides... and even then, it will not work. :) There is no way to keep squirrels out of a garden -- it's an impossible task.

Product description

A highly conductive prefabricated 164 ft fence with 10 horizontal twines (9 conductive); is 42" tall installed and has large white plastic vertical struts every 12 inches. Plastic strut verticals promote less fence sagging versus string verticals and are less likely to tangle and bunch when installing and removing the fence. The black and white colors provide 24/7 visibility to both humans and animals against light and dark backgrounds. ElectroStop includes a tinned copper conductor, which makes the fence 10 times more conductive than fences with only stainless steel conductors. It has 38 ohms of resistance per 1,000 feet, as compared to 380 ohms of resistance on fences with only stainless steel conductors. This allows multiple rolls of netting to be connected together and electrified effectively. Important to perform routine vegetation maintenance to minimize grass/weed load on the fence and PVC posts(.60" diameter)are built into the mesh every 12.5' with 6" double spike at the bottom that insert into the ground. Used to keep sheep, goats, guard dogs in while keeping out stray dogs and coyotes. Also used to keep bear away from bee hives. Suitable for cattle. Not designed for use with poultry. Recommend using additional support posts at ends and corners, such as Premier's 42" FiberTuff posts (Item 208054) found on Amazon. Acceptable levels of electric conductivity on the fence can be difficult when low soil moisture conditions are present. If dry soil conditions occur frequently, a Pos/Neg (P/N) version of netting fence is strongly advised. FENCE MUST BE PROPERLY ENERGIZED TO BE EFFECTIVE. Premier's energizers are found on Amazon.

  • Netting is 164' per roll. Vertical plastic struts reduce fence sagging between fence posts. Multiple rolls of netting may be connected together.
  • Works well in containing sheep, goats and guard dogs, while repelling coyotes, stray dogs and bears.
  • Recommend using additional support posts at ends and corners, such as Premier's 42" FiberTuff posts (Item 208054) found on Amazon. We prefer using support posts versus guy-lines at the fence corners, as they do not require removal when mowing and trimming around the fence. Important to perform routine vegetation maintenance to minimize grass/weed load on the fence and reduce energy drain.
  • Very easy to setup and move. Takes approximately 10 minutes to setup a roll of netting.

User questions & answers

Question: Will it contain horses
Answer: It will contain horses, but was designed for sheep & goats. However, our item 208022 - Horse QuikFence was designed specifically for horses. All electric nets and fences must be properly energized to be effective.
Question: If I already have electric fence, can I just connect this to that current without buying whole new energy source
Answer: You may be able to, but it will depend if your energizer is large enough to handle the additional fencing and also be sure that it is an intermittent pulse energizer and not a one with continuous current.
Question: Has anyone had their kid accidentally touch the fence when electrified? Is it just like a shock from a 9 volt battery
Answer: I jumper mine off a wire from my cattle pastier with a 100 mi fencer. It hurts but the sheep are smart. If you fall behind on moving it so they need to start looking for taller grass, they will test it or sometimes push each other into it and knock it down. I have 2 and hook them together. For the most part it has worked great for me as long as I have hay for them when I am running short on time. I recommend the thick corner post and use twine to tie them to a T-post on the out side to keep it tight, tie in 2 places on each corner post top and middle or if it is hot out the poles will bow.
Question: Is this negativity effected by rain
Answer: Rain should not affect the fence.

Color

The black and white colors provide 24/7 visibility to both humans and animals against light and dark backgrounds. It's low electrical resistance (only 38 Ω/1000 ft) is an important benefit for longer fences and/or fences with high weed contact.

Common Uses

Used to keep sheep, goats, guard dogs in while keeping out stray dogs and coyotes. Also used to keep bear away from bee hives. Suitable for cattle.

With proper care, netting should last 5-7 years.

Benefits

Very easy to move. Secure for adults, lambs and kids. Extra height is better for large and/or flighty animals. Visible for animals against all back grounds. End posts act as built in gates. Multiple nets hook to each other quickly via a clip on each end. Double spike posts are more stable in soft soils. Plastic strut verticals are more rigid than string verticals. Nets with vertical struts bunch less than string verticals when the net is being rolled up or unrolled.

Electrify Your Fence

Electrifying the fence with an energizer is essential. For the fence to be effective at keeping out predators, it must be electrified to deter them from the flock.

Premier 48" PoultryNet

A prefabricated, portable electric fence that has 12 horizontal strands (11 conductive), is 48" tall installed and has string verticals every 3". Built-in line posts are spaced every 10'.

Benefits

Netting is quick and simple to move. Even for new users, it takes less than 10 minutes to go from out-of-the-box netting to installed fence.

No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening.

With proper care, netting should last 5-7 years.

Common Uses

  • Contain and control the movement of chickens, ducks and other poultry on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Rotate poultry to fresh grass as a food source and to reduce disease risks.
  • Keep small flocks in the backyard. When managed well, chickens are an indispensable garden tool—turning pesky insects and weeds into rich compost.
  • Keeps out deer, bear, raccoons, rabbits, foxes, coyotes, stray dogs and skunks.

Precautions

Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. User questions & answers

Question: Need a bear repellant around bird sanctuary. Would this work? Usual electric fence isn't stopping them
Answer: Yes, this net can be used to repel bears, but it is important to have it adequately energized. We recommend using a fence tester on the fence after it is energized to measure the voltage on the fence. We recommend that the fence be carrying a minimum of 3,000 volts at the end of the fence that is furthest from the energizer to be effective.
Question: does it work for chickens
Answer: The 35" ElectroNet net is not designed to be used with chickens, as the openings at the bottom of the net are large enough for them to get through. We recommend using our PoultryNet or Chicken Net that is listed on Amazon for chickens. Our item 207015 and 201825 are a couple of our top selling 48" poultry nets. They have smaller, 2" x 3", openings at the bottom of the net, so the chickens can not slip through them. Thank you.
Question: Does the electronetting fence come with a jumper lead to connect to existing electric fence
Answer: We have 3 of them connected.
Question: Does this "ground out" easily
Answer: I have never had a problem with it grounding out since the bottom line is not electrified

Common Uses

  • Contain sheep, goats and cattle and keep out predators such as coyotes, dogs and bears.
  • Enclose rams and buck goats.
  • Make small pastures for animals that need special attention (ewes/does/nannies with triplets; injured or stressed animals).
  • Effective for beehive protection to keep out livestock and bears.
  • Strip grazing pastures, orchards, vineyards and stockpiled forages.
  • As an interim fence until a more permanent fence can be built.
  • Installing water gaps that work.
  • Making lanes for moving animals.

Benefits

Because it’s so easy to install and remove, many move ElectroNet weekly—fencing the flock or herd instead of an entire pasture. Even for new users, it takes less than 10 minutes to go from out-of-the-box netting to installed fence.

No extra gates needed. Just turn off the energizer and pull the first post to create an opening.

Precautions

Electric fence is a pain barrier, not a physical barrier. A common mistake is not electrifying it. Animals may escape or become entangled (and may die). On a % basis, entanglement is very rare, but it can and does occur. If animals are scared or starved it will not keep them in. That way if one were to get into the fence and get caught, you can turn the power off and get them loose.

Quick Ground

Quick Ground is a special use netting developed by Premier. Metal filaments in the bottom horizontal strand serve as the ground rod to complete the electrical circuit. It’s designed for those that move netting very frequently. There is a risk with this design; if vegetation touches both the bottom strand and the first positive strand (only 3" away) an electrical short is likely. We recommend using a larger (in output) energizer.

Electrify Your Fence

Electrifying the fence with an energizer is essential. For the fence to be effective at keeping out predators, it must be electrified to deter them from the flock.
