Question:	how does it handle roots
Answer:	we cut through 1.5" roots today.... it can cut through them, but you can't force it. you have to allow it to take a small chunk at a time. i found the most success with letting the weight of the auger be the force driving down, and i tilted it slightly side to side (like 2 or 3 inches) and that seemed to grab only a small chunk of root at a time. it takes time, but can do smaller roots. a larger tree root probably requires a different tool.
Question:	It does sound like this tool is better match for males. dont worry i will not get offended. i just want to know if an average woman could operate it
Answer:	I am a 62 yr old women, 5'5" and I operate it myself. Not saying it is easy, so for any woman (or man), if you decide to do it yourself please be careful, dress appropriately and take it slowly. I just dug 4 large holes for new rose bushes plus used it to rototill my entire garden area. My arms are going to make me pay for this, and will be very sore in the morning because it does use muscle to hold it in place. But, I did it, and am glad I decided to give it a try. Of course, it will depend on your overall fitness level. I'm in pretty decent shape for my age, but would expect that a much younger woman could out-auger me :-)
Question:	Does this drill rotation reversable? can the bit changeable
Answer:	The drill rotation is NOT reversible. The bit can be changed, but be careful to get the right size connection. I have a 4", 6", and 8" bits for mine along with extensions that allow me to drill from 2 feet to 4 feet deep.
Question:	I am 150 lbs, 5'7" without a lot of upper body strength. I'm concerned that there's no throttle control. Will this auger be too much to handle
Answer:	Hi! I'm 200 lbs and 6 feet tall with moderate upper body strength and this auger was right at about the max that I could handle. It has a built in clutch which will slip if you really get it jammed up, so that's good. I used it to dig in the very rocky ground of the Mohave desert and there was a couple of times when it got jammed on some rocks and ended up nailing me in the chin. I think if you're digging in normal soil it should be ok. Just make sure to keep plunging it as you're digging to clear the hole from soil, it'll go a lot easier. That being said, this auger weighs about 30 pounds, so expect a workout! I was using an 8 inch bit, so I'm sure using a smaller bit would be easier on you. Overall I'm very satisfied with this auger, I dug about 40 holes in hard rocky ground and didn't break it! Using a regular post hole digger would have taken me 3 1/2 years to complete! lol
Question:	is 10” auger course enough for rocky soil? Most are golf ball sized but up to baseball size rocks exist. Need depth about 15”. What about 1/2” roots
Answer:	We have used and found rocks as big as golf balls and the auger breaks them easy. For those baseball size you will need some bar to break them. Be careful as when the auger hits a big rock and you are not paying attention the handle will slip from your hands and will hit you in the knee. It hurts a lot

Answer:	The auger bit is 36" (3 feet) and you can dig the full length of the bit, but you may find that the depth is slightly shallower than the 3 ft until you fully remove the dirt. Question:	Can it penetrate roots up to a certain diameter
Answer:	It can cut small roots but I haven't had it encounter larger roots. Most of the ones I had were 1/4 " across or smaller. I had gravelly soil and it worked great for me the times I used it.
Question:	what is the diameter size hole that this digs
Answer:	In the description: Blade size: 6". It will dig a 6" diameter round hole as you turn it while pushing down. When the auger fills, you pull it up and dump it, start again. It works quite well unless you have ground full of large rocks.
Question:	how do you extend the auger coupler
Answer:	I dug a 30' shallow well with the auger. You ideally would use stainless steel 3/4 inch couplers and 10' galvanized pipe additions. Don't use too many couplers as you might break the pipe or coupler as you bring it up to empty it. I broke one and had to replace the pipe once in my 30' digging. Hope that assures you. It looks like there are a couple of ways to go, as stated by others.
Question:	Does this only cut 6" diameter holes? Seems like that wouldn't be enough for a 4"x4" fence post where 10" diameter holes are the norm
Answer:	The hole ends up about 8". You can get 8" and 10" blades. I have dug many, many holes for 4X4 posts 3' deep including putting quikrete in some I have never known the need for 10" diameter holes for fences.
