TIPS TO ENSURE GOOD INK FLOW IN YOUR FOUNTAIN AND CALLIGRAPHY PENS

• Each cartridge measures approx 40mm (1.5") in length. Please compare with your current cartridge to make sure it will fit your pen.
• NEVER use waterproof ink as this will clog your pen.
• DO NOT squeeze your cartridge to stimulate ink flow. This will damage the cartridge
• DO NOT drop or even tap your pen against a hard surface as this is likely to damage both the nib, the cartridge and even the seal between the lid and the body of the pen. To avoid accidental damage, always replace the cap after use. This also stops the ink from drying inside the pen.
• OCCASIONALLY wash the nib after use as per the following instructions: Carefully remove the old ink cartridge, placing it on a paper towel to protect against potential leakage. Now gently rinse the nib in soapy, warm water until water runs clear. Dry thoroughly before putting in a new cartridge. Make sure when you put the new ink cartridge in, you push firmly enough to hear a loud "click". This is how you know the ink is inserted correctly.

STEP 1

Disassemble the Pen:

Unscrew your pen’s barrel from the feed section.

STEP 2

Insert your cartridge:

Find the opening of the cartridge and insert it into the pen’s feed section.

STEP 3

Press Firmly:

Push the cartridge firmly into the feed until you feel the cartridge puncture. This may take more force than you expect. You will be rewarded by a satisfying "click"!

STEP 4

Leave the Pen Tip Down:

It can take a while for the ink to fully saturate the pen, so don’t worry if it doesn’t start writing right away. You should shake it gently if you would like to speed up the process, although this may result in a small amount of leakage or spillage.

Answer:	I believe that blue/black simply refers to one color. In other words, all the cartridges are the same color and that color is a really dark blue that borders on black. Certainly, when you open the package there is no distinction in the cartridges and the color of the cartridges that I have used are a really dark blue that is almost black. They have lighter blues, if that is what you prefer in color.

Answer:	Are you looking for gold or silver ink, or the gold / silver in the color of the pen barrel? These use Sheaffer fountain pen ink cartridges, and you don't normally find 'metallic' fountain pen ink as the pigments can clog up a fountain pen feed section. Metallic ink is generally only used with a dip style calligraphy pen or brush.

Answer:	I agree with Ams - with this added hint : I use Press and Seal plastic wrap around the partially used cartridge before putting it back in the box -t keeps the ink both from spilling and from drying out.

Answer:	I wasn't sure, so I googled this. The opinion seems to be that the Universals will work, but have less ink, so it makes it less cost effective to use the Universals. I only just got my Sheaffer set, so I still have the inks this came with.

Answer:	Fountain pen ink is water based, so no. It is not waterproof. You do not want to put shellac based inks into fountain pens. It will clog the pen and cleaning it with rubbing alcohol with degrade the plastic components of both the nib and pen.
