Question:	What is the pen's metal casing like, is it durable
Answer:	I have a black color pen and use it daily. Over time, the color coating will wear off (in small batches and especially around the area where the cap closes at the body), and reveals a bronze-like color beneath. At other scratched areas at the top of the cap, the underlying color is a metallic gray. But it still looks nice and I continue to use as one of my many daily carries.

Answer:	The question is imprecise. Any fountain pen ink is suitable for use in this pen. Waterman, Diamine, J. Herbin, Robert Oster, etc., etc. Any bottle that says Fountain Pen Ink will do.

Answer:	this unit is very powerful - in my opinion, it has enough output to handle a waterfall. make sure you have extra filters on hand or make sure you regularly clean the filter that comes with the unit - it prevents a world of gunk from clogging the impellers inside the pump, especially if you have fish.

Answer:	Here is an update on the pump.. I purchased a bigger pump that does 1350 gpm at Harbor Freight it is on sale for 59.00 and is 1/6 hp. I needed something stronger for my water fall tubes which is a total of 6. I may use this pump just a fountain feature. Its a good pump, but for my application, I needed something a little more powerful.

Answer:	I would recommend you give these a shot, just so you get the hang of using fountain pens again. When I first started to use FPs, I used a very heavy hand-a habit from the ballpoint and rollerball days. Thankfully, I was only using disposable pens so I didn't end up ruining the nibs.Although I've moved on to more expensive pens, I still keep these around. Answer:	Thank you for your question.This is pigment ink. But, it is NOT water-soluble, if once dried, it is insoluble again.

Answer:	Yes, mine came with an insert. Tip the bottle (with top on, of course) to fill the insert. Much easier to fill your pen.

Answer:	Although I have actually used this ink, in the past, I must say I did not experience any feathering. It most definitely depends on the type of paper you are using. Unfortunately, there are so many different types available you are going to have to experiment to a small degree.I remember utilizing this ink on watercolor paper, and because this ink is considered "waterproof", ( much more than a lot of other brands), I was able to lay in washes over and on top of the line work, not that long after it was "dry". A customer reported on a "Jet Pen " blog , that if you use thin ,untreated paper, you could expect feathering and bleedthrough. I happen to use Stillman and Birn Sketchbooks all the time, and love them, and the paper is great.One last note, everyone who ever uses this ink, makes a special note of warning fellow artists about making sure you don't let this ink clog whatever pen you are using.Cleaning the pen is of utmost importance.I would have remiss, had I not stated that. Answer:	Its one of the best inks I have ever used. Yes, it is Water proof and the perfect deepest Black. It dries fast but that really, is a function of how thick a nib you are using. But i would not worry about the dry time even if its a Medium nib.

Answer:	I suppose it depends on your experience. I have two different pens with medium and 1.5 mm nibs. They are rather stiff. They are OK pens but not outastading.

TIPS TO ENSURE GOOD INK FLOW IN YOUR FOUNTAIN AND CALLIGRAPHY PENS

• Each cartridge measures approx 40mm (1.5") in length. Please compare with your current cartridge to make sure it will fit your pen.
• NEVER use waterproof ink as this will clog your pen.
• DO NOT squeeze your cartridge to stimulate ink flow. This will damage the cartridge
• DO NOT drop or even tap your pen against a hard surface as this is likely to damage both the nib, the cartridge and even the seal between the lid and the body of the pen. To avoid accidental damage, always replace the cap after use. This also stops the ink from drying inside the pen.
• OCCASIONALLY wash the nib after use as per the following instructions: Carefully remove the old ink cartridge, placing it on a paper towel to protect against potential leakage. Now gently rinse the nib in soapy, warm water until water runs clear. Dry thoroughly before putting in a new cartridge. Make sure when you put the new ink cartridge in, you push firmly enough to hear a loud "click". This is how you know the ink is inserted correctly.

Press Firmly:

Push the cartridge firmly into the feed until you feel the cartridge puncture. This may take more force than you expect. You will be rewarded by a satisfying "click"!

Leave the Pen Tip Down:

It can take a while for the ink to fully saturate the pen, so don’t worry if it doesn’t start writing right away. You should shake it gently if you would like to speed up the process, although this may result in a small amount of leakage or spillage.

Answer:	There are three Parker Quinks; Blue, Black and Blue-Black. The answer to your question is No, No and Sort Of. The first two, blue and black, are washable inks, meaning they can be washed out of clothing that gets stained by those inks. The last one, blue-black, is a permanent ink. However, in this case Parker does not mean "waterproof on paper" it means that the ink will permanently stain any clothing it gets on. Which also means that it will stain paper and remain legible to some degree if the paper gets wet. So no, these inks are not actually what you would call "waterproof" and the blue-black Quink is as close as Parker gets to that.
Question:	is it hard to fill from the bottle? I'm worried about its small size
Answer:	Recommend the Parker Deluxe Ink Converter (5638200) instead of the cheaper converters that come with some if their pens. Have this converter and no problems in my "Urban" to date. Best of luck!

Answer:	Parker's Ink works with All Parker pen :) However, Parker "Black" is not black at all. ( It is grey green, dark green. Anyway it is kind of strange color...）spend a bit bucks more to buy a bottle of Pelikan or Lamy Black, they will be a better choice. If you want the ink to be bulletproof and really really black, buy a bottle of Noodler's Old Manhattan Black.

How to fill a fountain pen with cartridges:

Insert the narrow end of the new cartridge into the black of section block with enough pressure to create a snug fit. The pin inside the section block will puncture the seal of the cartridges, allowing ink to flow into the section block. Screw the barrel on over the cartridge into the section block.

When you fill the pen at the first time, you can swing the pen to make a few drops of ink coming out of the nib, so that it can flow easily.

Answer:	Sheaffer's or Parker Fountain Pen Ink has never bled on loose leaf notebook paper, spiral bound notebooks, or other inexpensive paper for me. These inks were used by almost everyone prior to the ballpoint pen, so they had to function on whatever was available to the general public.

Answer:	Mine was a bright blue. Not dark or blue-black. Closer to classic blue Shaffer ink.
Question:	Is Pelikan 4001 fugitive
Answer:	Yes it is. It is dye based. Most dye based inks from any brand are fugitive. This does not mean that dye based inks are not good. They are usually durable enough to not fade over night, and if you are using them in a letter or a journal where they are not constantly exposed to light they should last a long time. If you want a light fast ink you typically have to get a "pigment" ink or a "carbon" ink. These inks are much more harsh on your fountain pen and difficult to clean.
