Answer:	I was under the impression that it held one(back up) and one in the main cylinder for immediate use. Then I tried to put a lead in for backup and it seemed to jam up on me. I was able to clear it. Then a few weeks ago I took the pen apart to insert a new ink refill but now I can’t put it back together. Whatever threads or snap in that was there is of no use now. It won’t close it just falls apart. I know this is more than you asked but... just a heads up. I much more enjoy the kentaur multi pen. Same concept, smooth operation and better quality.
