Grasp the top and bottom, then pull apart gently like you're attempting to stretch the pen, it will expand and the writing tip will appear from the obvious end. After awhile, one becomes used to handling it and they can open and close it with one hand, just takes a bit of practice, but very smooth and natural once mastered.

Answer:	Yes. Low, medium and high. I put it on medium sometimes if I'm in a hurry. It's probably not good for my hair but I do do it lol. I've never even tried high!

Answer:	My hair is pretty thick and I take small strands and just place it for a couple of seconds because it does it really fast! I wouldn't keep it on for too long. I probably go through a full strand of hair in 1 minute or 2, it all depends on hair length/style. I've done my entire hair in about 50 minutes when fully dry. Also, I'm not sure if you're only doing some strands or your entire hair...if it's not your entire hair, I don't think it would really damage your hair that much..if not done often. I don't crimp my hair often but eventually it will burn your hair if done too often, or if you keep it placed in your hair too long. It works really fast and well though, I'd recommend!
