Answer: The nectar does have a preservative in it to help keep it fresh. Depending on how many birds you have coming to the feeders refrigeration after opening keeps it fresh for months, even over the winter if in higher latitudes. I'm in St. Louis and my feeders are in full sun so I only put enough in the feeders to last 10 - 14 days then clean rinse and refill. It was amazing how much more the birds liked the Kaytee clear nectar. I'll never use anything else. BTW if the nectar gets too old they will just stop feeding.

Answer: I put mine in the fridge after opening. I fill my feeder as full as it will take & the birds feed until it's empty. It lasts just over a week & my hummers LOVE this stuff!!! I'm going to order a larger feeder to see if they demolish the additional food or if I'll have to cut back on how much I fill. I've got a feeling that I won't have to cut back!

To feed they go down into the flowers as they sit rather than flying and going up into it so with several types of feeders in the yard they always go to these feeders as they drink easier....

Answer: You attach the lights to an electrical cable so you determine the distance between lights. They do not attach to one another.
Question: is the jar part glass or plastic
Answer: No. The lights come with a connector to attach to your main line wire. These lights are meant as a replacement to damaged or broken lights out of the original set. You need to get a full set with the transformer and wiring rather than the replacement lights. Also, before buying a set you need to understand how many lights you want wherever you are going to put them. It is important that the wattage of the transformer matches up to the total wattage of the lights you are going to use. If you don't do this and end up with too much wattage on your transformer you will be replacing light bulbs more often that you will want to. As an example, if you determine that you want 20 lights in your yard and each one will be 4 watts then you should be looking for a 80 watt transformer. My set has 4 watt and 7 watt lights and my transformer is matched up to the total wattage of all of them together.
Question: Are bees able to drink from this feeder
Answer: Yes. I bought these as replacement lights since I had some damaged from a hurricane when a neighbor’s tree came down and smashed them. I already had the wire in the ground and a transformer hooked up to it. If you buy a transformer, get one that is higher powered so your lights will shine bright. My old transformer was low powered and when I replaced it with more power, the lights were much brighter in the yard.

Answer: It does not automatically swing closed. It is actually quite painful to close it back up correctly. First you have to hook the bottom and then press the latch and slide it in to click closed.

Answer: I don’t think the opening of this jar is quite as wide as a standard mason jar. So, I would say no.
Question: Is the perch removable
Answer: Let me answer in two part as the answer is YES and NO. 1. For filling the feeder YES the perch and the feeding holes component do unscrew from the jar for filling. But if you are asking if the perch can be removed, just to have it removed ... 2. NO. The bottom of the 3 pieces (the perch) needs to be screwed into the jar with the feeder holes part just being the in-between-component.

Answer: Would strongly suggest to just hand wash. I purchased these because of their easy fill capability and this also makes it easy to wash by hand.

Answer: The wasps cannot eat from these feders. They will come to investigate the sweet food but generally leave when they find out they cannot eat from them. You must keep the flat part where the birds eat from free from spilled nectar because that will draw wasps to clean it up.
Question: I am really having a problem with bees getting in my feeders...is this a good feeder that the bees can't get to the nectar
Answer: I recommend giving your feeder a good wash and rinse before filling. Also getting a small funnel to fill up the bottle with helps to keep the nectar from spilling anywhere on the outside. I've had this feeder for a few years now and I love it. One other recommendation I have is to get some small bottle brushes to clean out the feeder holes every once in a while, as they can start to get a bit moldy if you don't get in there thoroughly.

Answer: They suck . plan on buying one everytime you take off the top. They strtch and do not fit

Answer: Yes for sure. I have been using this flow indicator for a few years and my established procedure is to replace it with a new one at the beginning of each season as the plastic turns whitish yellow and renders it almost useless. I also change the flow regulator and one-way valve at either end as I found that they also degrade. It is an extremely useful device to control the chlorine level from the tablets feeder but it is not perfect. I guess that chlorine is a very harsh chemical and there is a limit to how long plastic can survive it. It is a very reasonable price to pay per season for having this monitoring and control capabilities .....
Question: Will these work on the feeders you can get at walmart? they aren't perky pet feeders
Answer: Looks like it. I have a model 300 (16 years old) that looks just like the 320. The main thing is the 320 shows that it uses 1/4 fittings as the 300 does. I should have bought this flow meter 16 years ago. No more discovering something is plugged only after finding the chlorine at 0.

Answer: My More Birds feeder has a 17/64" hole. These say they fit 1/4" hole, so no, these won't fit. They are too small and would fall right out.

Answer: No. Wasps are always a concern, but the holes here are not big enough for wasps to crawl in. The hummingbird beek is much thinner.

Answer: Yes they will fit. I just put a couple in my bottles. I don't think they will work with the type that have the bee guards.

Answer: sm end: 5/8" lg end:17/16" I wished i could tell you they did not leak, because that's what i hoped for, but once they lose the vaccuum seal they leak heavily. i was definitely bummed about that...they were my second attempt, and no such luck.

Answer: Please don't buy anything with artificial red color. The Audubon Society recommends making your own with regular sugar. 4 parts water to 1 part sugar. (1/4 cup sugar to 1 cup boiling water).
