If you can screw it into studs, that is always best but if you have to go directly into drywall then you might be better using a toggle bolt style. Answer:	measuring from the tip of the hook on the top of the shoulder strap to the shoulder strap butt end of the strap(portion that slings around your shoulder) is approx.ly 24". the tail of the other strap(portion that would attach to the lower end of ring on golf bag) you could go 1 inch for a total of 25 inches. you could take that portion of the strap and run it thru the metal ring on the bottom part of golf bag and pull it until you would have 1 inch from the butt of the shoulder strap.I hope this helps you.Bruce W.
