Answer:	Not sure I understand your question --but the books are held together with a thread (thicker than regular thread but not as thick as string) which is sewn along the spine of each book. You are even able to tear out a page if you want without disrupting the binding but I wouldn't tear out more than one page at a time. Nice little books/journals.

Answer:	I am using Micron archival ink pens, sizes 01 and 03, and there has been no bleed through. The writing is visible from the blank other side, but once I write on the other side, it is not visible.

Answer:	No, a big water bottle wouldn't fit in the side pockets. The side pockets are pretty tight once your bag is filled. If your backpack isn't filled to capacity on the inside, a narrow water bottle (think regular sized Swell bottle) would be able to fit in the outside side pocket. Since I pack a lot in my bag, I place my water bottle inside the bag and reserve the outside side pockets for smaller things like mints.
