The description says, "College Ruled," which means the paper looks like any College Ruled notebook paper you'd buy without a cover. I suggest you buy them and return them if you don't like them.

Answer:	Not hard backed like a hard cover book is. Probably not much thicker/stiffer than the back of standard spiral notebook.
Question:	how well does it handle fountain pens
Answer:	Hello. I figured an answer is better late than never :-). These books handle fountain pens well, but it's entirely dependent upon the Nib you use as well as the ink. Different ink has different viscosity and thus, some types of inks may have bleed through. I use Noodlers ink almost exclusively for the colored inks, and I have medium and fine nibs and they perform quite well (I'll be a noodlers guy until I can't write anymore). I Also have Calligraphy nibs, and I noticed that those are heavy on the ink, so they *almost* bleed through, but not bad enough that it would interfere with writing on both sides of the paper. I would avoid cheap inks... like Higgins... It's almost like water. **NOTE** These books do not do well with Dip pens, I'm guessing due to the lack of flow control and the fact that you're using gravity to move the ink along the spine of the nib onto the paper. I had excessive bleed through with mine, however, a piece of printer paper folded in half and laid behind the page that you're writing on would catch the bleed onto subsequent pages, but would do absolutely nothing to prevent the bleed through on the back of the page your writing in. I hope that helps!!

Answer:	I don't know how many come in a standard amazon pack, but I know it isn't that for one! I got a sample and it was one of them. I'm now on a national tour and IN FACT I am using that notebook right now on this trip. But it isn't for just one.

Answer:	The tape binding is black. Like most notebooks, the pages have blue horizontal lines for writing and a singular red vertical line approximately 1 inch from the left side of the page. Does this answer your question?

Question:	When using a ball point pen on it, does the ink seep through to the other side of the paper? Some paper will do this, if thin enough
Answer:	Putting my hand flat on a table with fingers touching and my thumb touching my index finger, I measured over the top of my knuckles around my hand. To my surprise it was 10 1/2 inches. When I ordered my splint, I did not realize they had different sizes and they sent a small/medium, way to small. So, I exchanged it for a large. If they had an extra large, I probably need that one. I've been wearing it for about a month but the thumb is still tight and tender. Everyone will have a different problem with the thumb. I hope this helps in your choice.

Answer:	How is one to know? It is that black fabric that all these orthopedic splints and wraps are made of. Latex is a rubber like material, this is a fabric.
Question:	Are these stitched down the middle like Mead? I know some of the others the pages fall out with daily use. Wanting to know if these will hold up
Answer:	I got the large/x-tra large size, and I am a woman with a 7" wrist circumference measurement. My hand is probably average-ish to slightly large. I have a broader palm area, but this splint doesn't cover the palm area. The thumb part just straps on. The wrist measurement is the more important one as the Velcro strap goes around the wrist. I suspect a smaller size would also work, as these just wrap around the thumb and wrist. If you are a woman and you think you have a small to average size hand and wrist size, then buy the smaller size. If you are a woman and think your hand and wrist are on the larger size for a woman, then buy the larger size. Both will likely fit, if you are a woman. For a male, I would probably go with the large size, unless you have a smaller wrist size than 7 1/2".
Question:	Is the back cover very firm and solid or soft and pliable
Answer:	My hands are like yours, but wrist size is more important. Since this can be readily adjusted, I chose L/XL & it fit perfectly. My wrist is a size 7.5. Hope this helps you out!
