Answer:	The Lap stand is too small to support even a small phone, a smart phone is OK. I bought a Flippey stand. It is larger but more expensive.

Answer:	I use mine for my Tablet mainly. I have tired it with both paperback and a hardbound book and wasn't happy with the result. It doesn't hold the book open.
