Answer:	The magnetic paper gauge is adjustable but cannot be removed.
Question:	Is thus trimmer really precise? I've been through soo many & they are always off just a touch! I'm a cardmaker & I need precision
Answer:	Precision means 1- straight line, 2- correct angle, 3- correct size/measurement. When you have a large number of paper, the arm curves, if your hands apply a little force on any direction, then also a curve in the cut happens. 2- The way you pick up and move the trimmer, affects its cutting angle, the upper and lower guides seem to move slightly away from perfection when a force applied, their angle gets changed, so I cannot rely on it right angle unless I move it again and test, also the magnetic cutting guide arm is also not tight to keep it straight all the time, and nor it stops paper from passing from under it. 3- The square boxes drawn are using both thick and thin lines. When you are cutting at inch level which is one, two, three inch and so on, the lines are thick, so the exact placement of paper is difficult for the correct measurement. And after separate cuts when you bring all the papers together, you will find none of them got cut correctly. These problems are avoidable after some training and experience and a trained eye.
Question:	Can this cutter cut one sheet of 100# card stock smoothly as well as many sheets or would I need a different cutter for the single sheets
Answer:	I use this to cut 100# card stock almost every day. I usually cut 4-5 sheets at a time, but it takes at least three passes. The most I can cut with a single pass is 2 sheets of 100# card stock.
Question:	How small are the ruler lines on the board itself? I need to cut certain measures off edge of page, for ex: .75 inch off edge, then 3.25 inch, etc
Answer:	I solve the problem of perfect measurements by making a template out of heavy card board or heavy cardstock or even the 1/8" craft chipboard materials. I found this the most helpful way to be exact when I need to be. I can also label the template with what sizes it is and save it for future lay outs. Now you can adjust the sliding magnetic bar right up to the template edge. (My Carl 210 happens to be slightly skewed and not perfectly aligned down it's grid marks. So this has resolved that problem too. I then slip the template out and can cut my paper exactly what I want. I had a problem with the magnetic bar slipping over time so I now place a heavy magnetic 25# round magnet knob or two on the outside edge which stopped this slippage completely. My only problems now is when my spouse comes along and pulls out the set up for his own work and never bothers to return it. I can live with that or have for 16 years as he loves my cutter and ignores his 15" other brand rotary trimmer I bought over 20 years ago before ever learning about Carl. He wanted one and I bought it for his BD and for years he did use it. BUT along came the Carl and almost instantly we were both hooked. The original one we have does not have the yellow guide cutter just a clear plastic one. I can see how the yellow might be helpful for seeing an edge much clearer along the outside edge if you are especially trying to trim just a hair off of an edge to even it up or similar. (On rare occasions my printer prints a photo card that is folded in half slightly off center making the back show and easiest thing is to just trim that off using the Carl.) About getting exact measurements I also used two thin very accurate drawing rulers on each end to align the magnetic bar up to an exact spot so blade would cut just where I need it to. And I often do that still when setting up a new template piece. Or remaking one. But I seem to have enough templates made to cover almost all my projects on a daily basis so I can set it up in an instant and like I said the magnetic knobs sold on Amazon work perfectly to hold the bar from slipping. I used a sewing machine magnetic rectangle bar but it did not work as well as the stronger magnets did.

Answer:	There is no extendable ruler. The width is 9" from blade to side. I purchased it so I could cut 12x12 paper point to point to make triangles, which it does fabulously.

Answer:	I bought this unit in Feb 2010, and from the dimensions given on Amazon (23.1 x 11.5 x 2.8 inches), it sounds like it should. Fact is, it won't. The best you can do is 18". I believe those dimensions include the packaging.Still, I like the unit, and have another cutter for my longer length cuts.Sorry for the news, but I hope it helps you make your decision.

Answer:	Yes it will cut 110lb card stock. It also cuts great and straight. I have cut card board with this cutter. I buy white card stock in a ream of 500 sheets. I cut 3-4 sheets at a time when cutting larger sizes. The sharpness of the blade depends on how much you use it. I have not changed my blade yet after a few months but I do not use it everyday. I will say that this is the best cutter I have owned. I have several from other companies.

Answer:	The cutting mat is 3/8" wide x 18" long and will need to be cut to fit if your cutter requires 15" mat like mine. Simple to cut to fit, just snip off 3" with cutting tool such as wire cutter or similar. Should fit if your mat bed is 3/8" X 15".
Question:	are these really for the 15" Trimmer? Based on the comments it is 18 inches
Answer:	You are correct - but they fit the 15" cutter because the length of the cutting ability is only 15" but the length of these mats needs to be 18" to fit the slot. The extra 3" is for the cutting head to slide up beyond the cutting field.

Question:	Can this cut 17" tabloid sheets
Answer:	I believe so. I have not needed a replacement part but I think I read on the specifications tab they were available. You do know you can rotate it 90 degrees for a new cutting surface.
Question:	Minimum cut size? I heard that this cutter would not measure all the way down to 1/8", which I need to be able to do my paper quilling. Is that true
Answer:	Not quite sure about the question, however, on my trimmer there is a small lever near where the long handle, which operates the blade, pivots; the small lever has to be pressed down; it is spring loaded so hold it down while pulling the long handle to operate the cutter blade. After the long handle has moved a bit you can stop holding the small lever down. Be sure that the paper is clamped tightly by operating the rotating handle at the end of the blade assembly opposite from the long handle pivot. After the cut, when the long handle is moved up to near vertical, the lock device will re-lock the blade in the up position. Hope this helps. Bob
Question:	Maximum cut size? One reviewer says this cutter will not cut a full 12" (they say it 'almost' cuts 10"). Is that true? I need 11 inch cuts. Thanks
Answer:	The paper clamp has a crank handle on the front that is used to raise and lower the presser. When the cutter arrives, this crank is installed backwards for shipping, so you have to take off the retaining bolt and turn it around, then put it back on before using the cutter. The directions do not mention this step so it is somewhat confusing when the cutter arrives. The paper clamp assembly itself does not move, only the presser bar that holds the paper in place for cutting. If you do not securely lower the presser bar before you cut, you will almost certainly end up with a crooked cut.

Question:	Is there anything that holds the paper in place securely so you get a nice straight cut
Answer:	Yes, that top bar you see on the pic - you slide your paper under that and you butt your paper against an edge on either end of the board. There is also a guide wire so you can line up your paper with a measuring line to insure a straight cut. You place your hand or fingers upon the bar to put some weight on it and pull the cutter down across the paper - it doesnt move. It's a good tool for photos, card stock... stuff like that... Light cutting and cropping needs.
Question:	Will this cut laminated paper easily
Answer:	Yes. I use it for cutting laminated papers all the time. It probably dulls the blade faster, but I haven't had any issues with it.
Question:	Would this be easy for cutting 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper in half
Answer:	Most definitely! I used it to help me print 2 5x7s on a page and cut the whole page in half. Just use the ruler.
Question:	Will it cut card stock good
Answer:	I don't know what thickness of card stock you are referring to. I regularly cut photo paper with mine, and it does a great job. It's an excellent all-round paper cutter for small jobs.

Question:	Is there anywhere to get parts for this. Mine broke after two months
Answer:	I don't know why someone said it will NOT cut a 12x12 sheet of paper...it WILL. I put a 12x12 sheet on the cutter, and it DID cut it in half, no problem. 12" is the MAX it will cut. Some 12x12 scrapbook papers will have the little extra tear off part on it, making it a little larger than 12x12...maybe that is what they used. I bought this cutter because I make cards and other paper crafts. Basically the 12" cutter is 10 inches wide and 12 inches long. If you want a 12x12 sheet of paper to fully lay on the cutter, then buy a larger size.
Question:	Will it cut through card stock that has thick laminate
Answer:	Yes, it is precise, however the user's technique can have a significant effect for better or for worse. I bought this to replace an aging paper cutter in my office that had lost its edge. Everyone was impressed at how good this one was. As with any paper cutter it is important to not cut too many pages at one time. I would buy this one again, it is the best paper cutter I have ever used outside of a graphic arts studio.

Answer:	You probably already know this -- crossed screwdriver is a Phillips. Circumvolution 90 angle is the (red) plastic square tube the the blade comes down on.

Answer:	I'm sorry, but I don't know. I don't even know if "replacement blade" is available or not. You probably need to ask manufacturer in China. I must warn you the level of customer service I received was VERY bad. Hope you'll have better luck with them.

Answer:	I don’t know how many or thick paper it will cut. I did cut a 12.5 inch Gemini magnetic shim in half quite easily. It is the best rotary trimmer I’ve used.

Question:	I love the idea of this...but am I seeing right, it only goes up to 5 inches, without extending the arm? If so, that's just not going to work for me
Answer:	To the very outside white edge, it is exactly 5 1/2 inches, then you need to extend the arm. I love this trimmer, and use it to cut chipboard for my mini-albums. It cuts so well, that I no longer use my Dahle 550 for chipboard.

Answer:	In response to your question, I took a heavy cardboard box that had been used to ship produce and tried to cut it. I cut the cardboard into several pieces and it cut smoothly but with a slight resistance (a little more force than with plain paper). Accordingly, within the dimensions of the cutting board and guard, you should have no problems.
Question:	Could I use this to cut card stock (say three sheets of the thickness of index cards
Answer:	Not more then one sheet of card stock. I woke at a restaurant and it’s not capable of cutting more then one piece of 65lb cardstock for our menus without causing fraying of the edge. Not very professional.
