M.2 2242 is half the size of a traditional m.2 2280 ssd, this slot is often used for non ssd related things, instance LTE modem in my Thinkpad. I've never actually seen one, but my basic understanding is that they're tiny critters. I did find one that Amazon says will be releasing come September 30. Do a search for m.2 2242 ssd in the Amazon search box and it should come up.

Answer:	Yes it is a remote but with my door type I have to get closer than what I had to do with the original .
Question:	Can this wirk with an external hard drive
Answer:	I am not sure if I have a model 409 Opener (and it’s too cold to remove the light bulb cover to look for a model #) but my old Remote was a model AT-90 with 12 dip switches & the Frequency is 390.
Question:	I'm having trouble finding 1tb or 2tb m.2 2242 sata iii ssd's. are they available, or did they become obsolete before the gpd micropc was released
Answer:	Take the cover off. You will see a strip of 12 with dip switches in a line. They are numbered 1 to 12. On mine #1 was partially hidden under the case and a little difficult to get to. I used a paper clip to move them.
Question:	What type of m.2 ssd would be advisable should i want to upgrade
Answer:	I have no idea. I looked at the model#of my old remote and went from there. I know mine works great but has a shorter range. Sorry i couldn't help more.
