I feel that it can hold more weight but cannot answer truthfully your question of 60 to 100 pounds. But it is a heavy bookcase and very strong.

Answer:	Nancy, I have two of the bookcases side by side and have a 4 foot doll house on top of them. Wooden, heavy dollhouse and they are very sturdy and don't move at all. That is, they are in the hall on carpet and loaded with ancestry albums so they are capable of holding a lot of weight with out bowing. Having said that, if you don't have much weight on it I would suggest books or heavier objects on the bottom to give it more stability and if on carpet, where the nap is fuller against the wall, use glides on the front side corners to make sure that the case is even. Glides, or the furniture vinyl "things" that go under chair, sofa etc. legs can be just the right height to compensate for the carpet nap. Of course on hardwood or flooring those would not be needed. If you are worried about the TV you can purchase a soft rubber like place mat---or Rubbermaid has this "waffle" like mesh that they sell for "non-skid" and you could use that under the TV so it would cut down on the possibility of it being jostled off. The mesh comes in different colors and you can get it in rolls for kitchen cabinet liners etc. Sorry don't have the name of it. Oh one other thing, if you don't like the thinner backing, cut a piece of thin ply wood and after laying the original back that is with the shelf, put the ply wood on the back of it, so you still have the original color and back showing on the shelf, and use small brads or tacks and nail through both backings and no one would ever know that you had added more stability on to it.....then you could even bolt it into the wall....
