6 best landline telephone
A landline telephone, often simply referred to as a landline, is a type of telephone that uses a physical wire or cable to transmit voice and data signals over a public switched telephone network (PSTN). These telephones have been a fundamental means of communication for decades and are commonly found in homes, offices, and businesses. Here are some key points about landline telephones:
Wired Connection: Landline phones are connected to a wall jack via a physical telephone cord. The cord is plugged into both the phone and the jack, creating a direct wired connection to the telephone network.
Reliability: Landline phones are known for their reliability and stability. They typically have a consistent and clear call quality, making them suitable for important conversations and emergencies.
Power Source: Landline phones do not rely on electricity from the local power grid or batteries for operation. They can continue to work during power outages, as long as the telephone exchange has backup power.
Analog and Digital Variants: Landline phones can be either analog or digital. Analog phones convert voice signals into electrical pulses, while digital phones convert them into data packets. Digital landlines often offer additional features and enhanced sound quality.
Voice Quality: Landlines are known for their high-quality voice transmission, with minimal interference and distortion. This is due to the dedicated physical connection.
Landline Features: Landline phones can have various features, including call waiting, caller ID, voicemail, and three-way calling. Some models also offer speakerphone functionality.
Corded and Cordless Phones: There are two main types of landline phones: corded and cordless. Corded phones have a fixed location and are connected to the wall, while cordless phones have a base station that connects to the wall and portable handsets that can be used throughout the house or office.
Decline in Popularity: With the rise of mobile phones and digital communication methods, the use of landline phones has declined in recent years, especially among younger generations. However, they remain important in certain contexts, such as business environments and areas with limited mobile coverage.
Emergency Services: Landline phones are often associated with 911 emergency services. When a landline user dials 911, emergency responders can more easily pinpoint the caller's location compared to mobile phones.
Cost: The cost of landline phone service varies depending on the provider and the features included. Some people maintain a landline for its reliability, while others opt for more affordable mobile-only plans.
Landline telephones have a long history and continue to be a vital communication tool for many individuals and businesses. While their usage has evolved with the advent of mobile technology, they still offer distinct advantages in terms of reliability and call quality.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you shut the ringer off |
Answer: | Is the ringer on the base or the handset? |
Question: | Does this phone work with AT&T connection only or could we use this phone with any connection |
Answer: | A phone is a phone, doesn't matter who your landline service is. Even a home VOIP service from a cable company transforms to analog in the home. The only phone system this wouldn't work with is a digital PBX system used in businesses. Those use specific IP phones. |
Question: | How long is the coiled handset cord. I'm returning a phone now because the cord was just too short |
Answer: | The cord is only 7 ft. You can order a 25ft cord RCA 25 feet Handset Coil Cord, White (TP282W) for $ 5.40 on Amazon to make it longer. I hope this response helped. Have a great day. |
Question: | does it work when the electricity goes off |
Answer: | Yes this works without batteries and with out external electricity source when plugged into a traditional telephone landline service. Digital Phone like xfinity or At&t U-Verse may not work in a power outage because the phone line will be powered by a cable modem/router which gets it's power from your 120vac wall outlet. I bought a UPS battery backup formy cable modem and PC so they stay powered on for up to 60 min on a power outage. Assuming the cable provider still has electricity and their servers and internet don't go down, you should still have phone service. Even cellular companies can lose electricity causing an phone outage. Historically Old fashioned landline has been the most reliable in power outages. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do you make a call with your bluetooth headphones? I have linked them to your phone base already |
Answer: | This phone has a single or number “range block” block. Either way telemarketers have ten or more numbers they use in random sequence, so if you can see the top and low you can block the last two consecutive numbers like 00-10, or 10-19 or maybe 00-99. This phone is saving my sanity and giving me a chance to sleep. |
Question: | Can I use the headphone jack with non Bluetooth earbuds |
Answer: | Yes, you can turn the ringer off on the handset by pressing and holding "0", then turn off the answering machine by pushing the "answer on/off" button on the cradle, then press and hold the volume down button on the cradle till you hear a beep/tone. The phone won't ring, the cradle won't ring, and the answering machine will not answer so you won't get anyone leaving messages. |

Answer: | Yes, I got the info from the manufacturer's website, tried it and it works: To turn off Talking Caller ID on the base; Press MENU # * 1 6 2 Press the ▲ or the ▼ button to turn the base Caller ID on or off. Press SAVE To turn off Talking Caller ID on one of the handsets; Press MENU # 1 6 2. Press the ▲ or the ▼ button to turn the handset Caller ID on or off. Press SAVE http://eng-ca.faq.panasonic.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20752 |
