I purchased two sets rather than expansion handsets because it was more cost effective.

Answer:	This phone is amplified really well. I always leave the volume as far down as it will go unless someone is not coming through very well and then I bump it up a notch or two. It is better than the average phone as far as sound coming through.

Answer:	Yes I plays my recorded announcement out loud. I like most of the features except for the volume and clarity control. It's kind of fun to hear a voice telling me who is calling (frankly, in the beginning I didn't like it ).

Answer:	No, there is no sound amplifier. You can just adjust the volume and equalize the sound for bass and treble but the sound overall is low, lower than the old phone. Not recommended for people with hearing problems.

Answer:	Headset for this phone uses a 2.5mm male plug. Most headsets come with a 3.5mm male plug so you have to buy a 3.5mm female to 2.5mm male adapter to adapt the headset plug. There are some Panasonic headsets that already have a 2.5mm male plug but many complained that they could not hear well with them. Question:	Can the landline phone be mounted to the wall and if so, how many inches does it stick out from the wall
Answer:	We have not had an outage since I have owned this, but since it is a land-line phone I assume the phone will work on the old type phone lines, but maybe not the answering unit. (This is why some keep a landline phone for another kind of security.) I am definitely not a techie so double check this.
Question:	Does the base unit have to be plugged in for caller id
Answer:	The remote handset no but has speaker phone. The base has the plug in handset which can be removed so I am assuming a headset jack that can answer and hang up the phone may work

Answer:	I don't see one on the base or hands-free sets.

Answer:	I can confirm, except for the cordless handset, yes, it does! We don't have reliable power in the deep cold of winter or the hottest times in summer, which is why we always keep a landline. It won't work if your phones company is cable, however. Nor will you see the displays when the electric goes out but, this type of phone is essential for potential emergencies.

Answer:	Lee - Yes, the message alert tone for CL82207 can be turned off. Below is the step by step procedure on how to turn it off. To change the setting: 1. When the handset is in idle mode, press MENU/SELECT to enter the main menu. 2. Press CID or DIR button to scroll to Answering sys, then press MENU/SELECT. 3. Press CID or DIR button to scroll to Ans sys setup, then press MENU/SELECT. 4. Press CID or DIR button to scroll to Msg alert tone, then press MENU/SELECT. 5. Press CID or DIR button to choose On or Off. 6. Press MENU/SELECT to save the setting. You hear a confirmation tone. Hope this helps!

Answer:	Yes, you can access the answering system from the hand sets.

Answer:	I put a unit I'm using back on the charger I picked it up from the majority of the time. That makes it easier for me to find it the next time I need it. But of the times I have taken it with me and not put in back on the charger, it has usually held its charge at least 12 hours. If left off 24 hours, I expect it to be discharged.
