Answer: | You need a hosted service provider to get you dial tone and also a power kit or a POE switch to power the phone. We can offer you service. |
Question: | Does this version support Zoom |
Answer: | Yes it does. I ended up returning it though and using a Mac mini, iPad mini, and a microphone to set up a zoom room. Configuration of this with Zoom proved to be too time consuming and buggy. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i connect with a cat5 cable |
Answer: | Hi Phillis. The connection for this unit works like this. The unit connects to the power supply via CAT5 (Ethernet). However, the analog connection (from your wall) to the power supply connects via RJ11. |
Question: | Can we plug in a handset for privacy when needed |
Answer: | I am not sure because I have not tried it with a handset. I have a regular phone connected to the same phone line and if I need a private conversation I use the regular phone and turn the polycom off without hanging up until I get through with my private conversation. This seems to work well for me. This may be what you are speaking about - not sure. I just press the phone button on the polycom once I am ready to resume public conversation and hang up the regular phone. Hope that helps. |
Question: | what's in the box |
Answer: | The polycom unit, the power adapter, the cable to connect the power adapter to the Polycom unit, and a RJ-11 POTS cable to connect the power adapter to the analog phone line. The unit does not include the satellite microphones and cables. |
Question: | Is installation and setup more complicated than plugging in the phone line and the power |
Answer: | Yes, that is about all you do. Just plug in the phone line and power and it will be ready to work. You can get into the menu for some other features but it that’s about it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference from expandable and nonexpandable |
Answer: | Hi Alecia, expandable means you can add extra extension microphones. Non expandable you wont be able to add extension mics. Give us a call with any further questions at 1-800-683-5715. |
Question: | Does this include the unit that connects to the PBX |
Answer: | The polycom has a POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) connection using RJ11 connector. The PBX interface should match that. That is, the PBX output is a standard phone line. |
Question: | Is there a polycom that works with an iPhone rather than a landline |
Answer: | Not that I'm aware of but below is a couple of models that will work great with an iPhone. Give us a call at 1-800-683-5715 for any further questions. https://www.amazon.com/Jabra-Wireless-Bluetooth-Softphone-Packaging/dp/B00AQUO5RI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1507751096&sr=8-3&keywords=jabra+speak+510 https://www.amazon.com/VTech-VCS752-ErisStation-Conference-Capability/dp/B01N5FDQ4W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1507751112&sr=8-1&keywords=vtech+vcs752 |
Question: | When using the Polycom, does one's phone service have to include conference call capability? Can more than one person call in to a meeting |
Answer: | I think the seller's answer is a bit misleading. If you only have one single phone line, then you can only have one other person on the other end (unless you three-way call). It's no different than your regular desk phone. The way most people conduct a conference call is through a service. Each remote attendee would call into a toll-free number somewhere and your Polycom would also call into that same number. Then this conference "service" would put you all together on the call together. I hope that makes sense and helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | have a power cord |
Answer: | The Polycom IP 6000 is a Sip enable device which is easily setup by having an automated DHCP scope with options to contact the local http server or TFTP to download firmware and configuration along with a voip registration server. Doing manual settings is possible but more prone to errors. The IP 6000 is an excellent device with clarity and good microphone pickup with options to add additional microphones. They can do three-way-conferencing with options on the display. From my experience the IP6000 has a very poor durability. They seem to last about 3yrs before they stop working or have problems registering with the voip system. Their predecessor the SoundStation conference phones are much more durable and frankly I never seen one go bad. The downside is that they are analog. The only way to do three-way-conferencing is with a conference enabled analog line conducting a flash feature. |
