Answer:	There are 2 cartridges when you buy the printer; 1 black one tricolor. When you register the printer, it will set up a $120 Instant Ink credit equivalent to 24 months of 100pg/mn coverage. If you choose to use the Instant Ink (I recommend), this will trigger HP to start ink deliveries and will send you more ink automatically when you starts to get low on ink and arrive before you run out. For the page counts, you can print any amount of ink on the page (letter, brochure, PowerPoint, graph, photo, ...). HP doesn't track/store what you print, only the page counts. There is no paper.

Answer:	Yes it does make copies and scans as well. It is not a printer you would use for a lot of print jobs but for everyday home use it is fine. I had to return the first one, it didn't work at all. But replaced it and it worked fine.

Answer:	If your document is black and white or you are printing in gray scale it will print without color. However, if you are trying to print a document that has color on it the printer will not automatically print it in black and white. You must be able to choose Black and White, some devices may not have this in the print options.

Answer:	I no longer have this printer. While I had it I never checked to see if it could print from a cell. I now have an HP OfficeJet 3830 printer and I can and do print from my iPhone

Question:	I need a printer that works with any size or weight of card stock. Does anyone use this printer to make greeting cards
Answer:	Those supplied are starters and the ones in the store apparently have more ink. My theory on the XL cartridge is: I will continue to buy the HP 62 since I don't print a lot and so it doesn't dry up. The price per copy is the same: the HP 62 for $13 (on Amazon) compared to $35 for the XL. Specs say the HP 62 prints 200 copies, while the XL prints 600. So the cost per copy is the same. With Amazon prime, shipping is free. Walmart's prices are similar to Amazon.

Black ink refilling is virtually fool proof while color is slightly more involved. Why pay $50 or more for a set of cartridges when they can be refilled for a dollar or so and 20 minutes of your time.
