the nest has an internal battery but it needs a constant 24v low voltage power source usually supplied by the heating/cooling system. I have an older central heat/AC system that did not supply power (used the old round mercury switch) and got a 1st gen Nest to work by feeding it power through a 24 v door bell power transformer (made for a hard wired door bell) purchased at Home Depot. But most systems made in the last 15 or so years will supply the power needed in the wiring loom.

Yes, green lasers are frequently used for astronomy, scope alignment, etc. Beam is usually clear enough to help align your telescope-binoculars-camera. I have an older pencil-style laser, 1/2" diameter, 7 inches long. However, this gadget does not appear to have an appropriate method to mount on any astronomy gear. In a pinch, you might try some sticky-backed velcro, depends on your equipment.

It does has a zipper that you can lock with a small padlock, however the zipper on the back won't do that and there still access from the back pocket to the main one, so it's not really working well.

Yes it should hold textbooks and notebooks in addition to your computer. I actually cut out the black inner lining that separated the two zippered compartments. This allows me to fit my purse (it's a large purse) , computer (15 inch), a thick spiral notebook, papers for work and high heels all at he same time. I take the train to work, roll it all over and to the bottom/wheels are sturdy enough to handle all of the weight without dragging! This is by far the best investment I have made this year!

Is the Targus metro roller case water resistant

There is a major design flaw with this case: The compartment for the extensible handle opens directly into the rest of the case. Thus, if you have the handle extended, it forms a funnel on the top of the bad that lets water into the bag. With that said, the bag is relatively waterproof if you keep it completely zipped up and carry it instead of rolling it (which is awkward, and defeats the point of having a roller bag).

I don't know, and I'm in the same situation. It's been so long that I don't remember if I've ever taken the time to contact Targus. I kept hoping the thing would turn up. (Temote was borrowed by someone else in our organization and returned without receiver).

For starters ... the picture does NOT depict my remote ... but it's the same model number. Go figure! However, the Targus works fine with my MacBook Pro and MacBook Air (OSX 10.9.5). Have you attempted to: (1) switch the transmitter from one USB port to the other; (2) pushed the "Connect" button on the bottom; (3) Restarted your computer and ensured your bluetooth is set "ON"? Now ... do you understand that this mouse ONLY works with Apps in the PRESENTATION mode? That means Keynote, Powerpoint and Adobe Acrobat need to be in Presentation or Full Screen mode.
