A steel key of C harmonica is a musical instrument that falls under the category of harmonicas, specifically diatonic harmonicas. Here's what you need to know about steel key of C harmonicas:

  1. Type: A key of C harmonica is a specific type of diatonic harmonica. The "C" refers to the key in which the harmonica is tuned. In the case of a key of C harmonica, when you blow or draw a note without bending or altering the pitch, it produces the natural notes in the key of C major.

  2. Construction: These harmonicas typically consist of a series of reed plates, each corresponding to a hole on the harmonica's comb. The reeds are made of steel and produce sound when air is blown through or drawn into the instrument.

  3. Diatonic Nature: Key of C harmonicas are diatonic instruments, meaning they are primarily designed to play within a specific major key (in this case, C major). They can produce the notes of the C major scale, making them suitable for playing music in that key.

  4. Playing Technique: To play a key of C harmonica effectively, you need to learn various techniques, such as bending notes, overblowing, and tongue blocking. These techniques allow you to play additional notes and achieve expressive playing styles commonly used in blues, folk, and other genres.

  5. Musical Genres: Steel key of C harmonicas are versatile instruments and are commonly used in a variety of musical genres, including folk, blues, country, rock, and more. They are favored for their warm, melodic sound and are often used for both solo performances and as accompaniment to other instruments.

  6. Size and Portability: Harmonicas, including those in the key of C, are small and highly portable instruments. They can easily fit in a pocket, making them convenient for musicians on the go or for impromptu performances.

  7. Maintenance: Harmonicas require regular maintenance to keep them playing well. Cleaning, occasional reed adjustments or replacements, and proper storage are essential for prolonging the instrument's lifespan and maintaining its sound quality.

  8. Key Transposition: While a key of C harmonica is tuned to the C major scale, skilled harmonica players can play in different keys by using various techniques like bending notes. This allows them to adapt to different musical contexts and play alongside instruments in various keys.

In summary, a steel key of C harmonica is a diatonic harmonica tuned to the key of C major. It is a versatile and portable musical instrument used in various genres, known for its melodic and expressive qualities. Learning to play it effectively involves mastering techniques that allow for musical expression and transposition to different keys when needed.

SEYDEL ORCHESTRA S Session Steel Harmonica Key of Low C

Seydel

Based on 53 reviews Check latest price

Product description

ORCHESTRA S Session Steel Harmonica Key of Low C. The ORCHESTRA S Session Steel Harmonica is a 10-hole, solo-tuned harmonica (orchestra-tuning). As with the chromatic harmonica, all notes from the major scale are available throughout a two-and-a-half octave range. The ORCHESTRA S offers even more Typically, the root note is found in hole 1-blow. The ORCHESTRA S places the root note at hole 3-blow, and half of the lower octave is added to holes 1 and 2. Since many players miss some of the notes on the standard Richter-tuned diatonic harmonica in the lower register the ORCHESTRA S allows them to hit the missing notes without having to apply a bending technique. The root note of the diatonic major scale is marked on the coverplate - it starts in 3 blow. This makes the ORCHESTRA S an ideal soloing instrument; the ten-hole design makes the Orchestra-S compact enough to take your melodies anywhere. The note layout is basically the same as that of a chromatic harmonica, making the ORCHESTRA S a great starting harmonica for learning to play a chromatic. The compact size combined with SEYDEL's durability makes the ORCHESTRA S a good choice for musical education in schools. The ORCHESTRA S opens new possibilities to blues harmonica players by making it easy to play minor pieces (3rd position) with a sound similar to solos played on a chromatic, thanks to the solo-tuning. They will also appreciate the extended major scale in the lower register. The root note of the dominant chord is available in the hole 1-draw, making it similar to playing in 2nd position on a standard Richter-tuned harmonica. Seasoned blues players will find all the notes of the blues scale through natural notes and bent notes, bringing soul and color to their blues improvisation.

  • Solo-tuning in a ten-hole, compact harmonica
  • Expanded tonal range in the lower register (Orchestra tuning)
  • Stainless-steel reeds, coverplates, and screws combined for unparalleled durability (outlasting brass-reed models by up to five-times)
  • Anti-corrosive, German-silver reedplates
  • Lip-friendly, translucent carmine red plastic comb (ABS) with recessed reedplates

User questions & answers

Question: Where was this harmonica made
Answer: Most importantly this model is solo tuned meaning Hole 2 draw on a C is an F not a G The tuning of reeds is equal temperament
Question: Is this harmonica good for just blues playing
Answer: In order to play a song in the key of C: Play first position on a C harmonica OR Play second position on an F or Low F harmonica. The seydel orchestra isn't in the same tuning as a diatonic. The notes are arranged just like a chromatic harmonica, but without the button to hit the flats and sharps. In short-make sure you get a diatonic tuned harmonica in the key of F or Low F to play along to a song in C
Question: What type of tuning system does this model have? Compromised, just intonation, or equal temperament
Answer: Not plastic - cardboard cases for each.
Question: Is the low c the one to get for songs played by a group in the key of c
Answer: This is a standard size harmonica. That is probably referring to the packaging dimensions.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this harmonica come with the slide button on either the left or the right side? From pictures it appears so but no option visible
Answer: China.
Question: Can I play Beatles
Answer: I've been playing harmonica for more than 50 years and have never had occasion to want to wash one in warm or any other water. If it needs cleaning, take it apart and wipe it down with alcohol wipes and let it air dry. If you do wash it, I'd take the covers off and let it dry thoroughly before playing it again.
Question: Where was this manufactured
Answer: First things first, specs say a lot by themselves about what they might offer. If you have a particular key that you prefer-one that works for people you sing with or if you sing yourself one that you sing in often etc-start there. There are really, though, two differences to consider. The original is the Marine Band 1896. If natural materials appeal to you, it is a great bet. If you live somewhere quite humid, especially hot and humid, eh, I might not suggest it if you will have it outside/in non-climate controlled places a long time (though camping occasionally it is well suited for-I mean, it has gone to war plenty of times so the differences are going to mostly be about sound and feel-it will take a lot of abuse to wear down the Marine one-none are cheap $10 ones that will never sound or feel good). Wood naturally, whether a clarinet or harmonica, swells a bit when it gets hot and humid; the amount from your mouth is one factor-two layers of lacquer there to cover that much and a good chunk of weather variation for the vast majority playing-but as sad as this is to acknowledge as someone who adores wood&quality metals, plastic DOES have an advantage that makes smart marching band performers&other outdoor musicians have their "400-700 dollar" flute/piccolo/clarinet/even trumpets etc though brass isn't as impacted as quickly if it gets cleaned reliably) and keep their concert instruments safe. If you are going to play for extremely long periods of time, the tuning can be impacted a bit...and if you are playing with a precision-demanding ensemble or doing solo work, plastic does have precision onoy a machine can mold-natural materials=some natural variation. I LOVE the natural variation and warm rich bluesy sound of the marine band one (but being Hoehner sound won't suffer with any). The 1896 is not much different now from a 100 years ago apart from probably using a different substance for the lacquer on the wooden comb(to reduces swelling of the wood, mold too)-changed to last longer, sound better, be safer, or a combination of them. The difference between the special 20 and the golden melody is predominantly the mouthpiece, simple enough. The golden melody is shaped a bit like a small box knife, slick, even&minimally angled, whereas the special 20 has the outer plates recessed so the edge your mouth glides over&across is smaller=more relaxed jaw; it is definitely a better bet for beginners, people with small mouths (if you let any kids play it), and many people with plans to play a long time, too, since mouth fatigue is a big reason people stop playing! —Shared specs for all 3 models— Reed plates (material, thickness): brass, 0.9 mm Reed plates (surface): brass Reeds (number, material): 20, brass Cover plates: stainless steel Number of holes: 10 Tonal range: 3 octaves —Golden melody specs— Comb (material, color): ABS, red Comb (finish): ABS Mouthpiece (surface): ABS Keys: F#, F, E, Eb, D, Db, C, B(H), Bb, A, Ab, G Type: diatonic Tuning: Richter Length: 10.5 cm / 4.1" —Special 20 specs— Comb (material, color): ABS, black Comb (finish): ABS Mouthpiece (surface): ABS Keys: HG, F#, F, E, Eb, D, Db, C, B(H), Bb, A, Ab, G Type: diatonic Tuning: Richter/Country (Country just in F#, F, E, Eb, D, Db, C, B(H), Bb, A, Ab, G) Length: 10.2 cm / 4.0" —Marine 1896 specs— Comb (material, color): pearwood, brown Comb (finish): double lacquered Mouthpiece (surface): pearwood Keys: HG, F#, F, E, Eb, D, Db, C, B(H), Bb, A, Ab, G Type: diatonic Tuning: Richter, Harmonica Minor and Natural Minor. Nm and hm just in F#, F, E, Eb, D, Db, C, B(H), Bb, A, Ab, G Length: 10 cm / 3.9”
Question: OK to wash this in warm water
Answer: I wondered the same thing. However, there is an alternative for a C harp. I, personally, opted for other free lessons on you tube and have never signed up for my free month. One reason could be that the A harp is significantly lower than the C harp and the lower notes are easier to play than the higher ones. For this reason, it could be considered more desirable for a beginner.

User questions & answers

Question: Where was this item made? What country
Answer: I bought two. One was good, one was bad. Kind of like my children.
Question: Is this pvc or abs?? the description lists them both in different places. i will not give a child anything with toxic pvc
Answer: When you play in E It makes the Harmonica Cross-harp which gives it the blues sound
Question: is it good
Answer: Yes
Question: What makes this a "blues" harmonica
Answer: These are Hohner marine band harmonicas but they are definitely not the marine band crossover. The crossover is the high end marine band that has a distinctive bamboo comb and they are priced at about $90-$100 each. Worth while in my opinion. My favourite harmonica.

User questions & answers

Question: The reviews are saying that this is only for the reed plates and not the harmonica as stated is this true
Answer: I've played both Seydels and Hohners. Hohner makes a number of different models, so it is a little difficult to compare the Seydel Blues 1847 with all of them. Hohner makes some nice harps and many people prefer them. My personal opinion is that the Seidel 1847 C Noble is the best harp I've played. It is more comfortable in the hand than most of the Hohner models. It is easier on the lips than the Hohner Blues Harp or the Hohner Marine Band. It plays both softer and louder than most (all?) Hohner models. It is easier to bend notes on this model than most Hohner models. Finally, and this is very subjective, it just sounds better to my ears.
Question: Is this just a regular seydel session steel in the key of bb? i'm asking because i see this 10301 and i don't want to received a “surprise
Answer: I have the 1847 C Noble, not the silver. As far as I know, the major differences are that the C Noble has Matted stainless steel coverplates and an aluminum comb. The sliver has different cover plates and a plastic comb. In my humble opinion, the Noble is worth the few extra bucks. It is heavier, more solid. Personally, I think that it also has the edge in volume and quality of sound - it is the best harmonica I have ever played. Still, the Silver is a great harmonica in its own right and is more than adequate for even the highest level of professional playing. Truthfully, I doubt the audience could tell the difference in sound between the two models - especially if you use a microphone. But, once you play the Noble, you'll never want to play any other harmonica.

Clear and crisp sound is tone character of Pro Master MR-350

Due to its high rigidity, it responds sensitively to the strength of the breath, so it is easy to add expressions on from small to loud sounds, and it is recommended for those who want to play melodically.

Note layout of 10-hole harmonica

Major 14keys are available in MR-350. Choose keys according to songs played and performance style.

Tips to choose keys

The 10-hole harmonica basically selects the tone/key according to the song to be played, but sometimes the harmonica with a different tone is selected. How you choose tone is depending on how you play.

For example, if you want to play a beautiful melody straight, you should have the same tone as the song (called the 1st position), and if you want to get a cool ad lib with blues or rock, you should get the tone 4 degrees above the song (called the 2nd position). If you choose it, you will get a bluesy atmosphere.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this original? to my knowledge without owning one, suzukis have reeds welded not rivet. i'm concerned since suzuki warns against counterfeit
Answer: This harp is tune for blues, hence the name Bluesmaster. .. However, if I were to spend the same money again, I'd buy the same harmonica by Seydel. Better action and sound.
Question: Would the package fit in an average size mailbox
Answer: Most Suzuki harps are tuned to Equal Temperate, whereas the Special 20 (and most Hohners) is in Richter tuning. In the briefest explanation, ET sounds better if you are playing individual notes, whereas Richter sounds better with chords. This is kind of an "apples and oranges" question. In terms of ease of playability, the Suzuki Harpmaster is probably the closest to the SP 20 (and a little less costly). It's a decent harp (again though, it's tuned ET). It has recessed reed plates like the SP 20, and both have an ABS (plastic) comb. Some folks starting out find recessed reed plates easier on the lips than, say, something like a Marine Band 1896. Also, ABS combs do not swell like wood combs often will (after cleaning). If you're wanting an ET tuned harp, I would go for the Harpmaster, the Hohner Golden Melody, or the Easttop T008S. The latter is a surprisingly good harp at a VERY good price, and also has recessed plates and the ABS comb. If you want a Richter-tuned harp with recessed plates and plastic comb, I'd stick with the Special 20.
Question: What is the tuning, richter, or paddy richter, etc., for this harp? is is blues tuned
Answer: We also have Bb,D,G key,you can check it in our Amazon Shop
Question: Which suzuki harmonica is most similar to the hohner special
Answer: Hi, This mould harmonica manufactured in China, but send our from US. Thanks Best regards Easttop harmonica
