13 best vocal harmonizers
Vocal harmonizers are devices associated with Vocal Effects Processors, Effects Processors, Signal Processors, Studio Recording Equipment, and Musical Instruments. These devices are designed to add harmonies and enhance the vocal sound during performances or studio recordings.
Vocal harmonizers can create harmonies by pitch-shifting the original vocal signal in real-time. They offer a range of settings and options, allowing users to generate different harmonies, adjust pitch, and experiment with various vocal effects. Some advanced harmonizers also provide features such as automatic tuning, reverb, and delay effects to further enhance the vocal performance.
These devices are popular among musicians, especially singers and vocalists, who want to create a fuller and more polished sound without the need for additional backup singers. When considering a vocal harmonizer, factors such as ease of use, the variety of harmonies available, and compatibility with other audio equipment should be taken into account.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this come with mic stand mount |
Answer: | No, there is no mount included. |
Question: | Volume is a power amp (output) function where as Gain is a pre amp (input) function. Is the knob below phantom power switch gain, not volume control |
Answer: | The knob below the phantom power switch is a volume knob that controls the mic input volume. |
Question: | Can you hook this up to a goxlr, to potentially further enhance your voices |
Answer: | A second method is to connect the 1/4"(L) and 1/4"(R) Output (line outs) from the Zoom V3 with an intermediary, impedance matching device, such as a Whirlwind pcDI box or similar, thus convert the two line outs from the Zoom V3 into a pair of XLR outputs, one of which can be passed on to the XLR microphone input on the GoXLR. This second method can be used to connect a Zoom V3 to a Zoom P8. |
Question: | How long do the batteries usually last |
Answer: | On four AA batteries the device will power for about 3.5 hours. |

Question: | this only has 1 xlr port, so how would i hook this up to a secondary device (autotuner) then to my audio interface |

Answer: | Yes. You can use the batteries as a backup . It is USB powered. |
Question: | I have wireless headphones and a condenser mic, would my headphones still monitor me |
Answer: | We never could get it to work that way and returned the voice transformer as a result. |
Question: | i don't want to constantly charge the battery...can this device be pugged into the wall |

Find Your Voice
The VT-4 is an effect processor for the instrument inside us all-the human voice. And like the human voice, the VT-4 is easy to use, yet devastatingly effective. Whether you’re a solo electronic artist, DJ, or singer in a band, the VT-4 lets you craft and shape your own unique vocal sounds, from subtle augmentation to radical transformation. Everything is hands on, with no menu diving or programming to get in the way. Jaw-dropping effects like harmonizing, vocoding, pitch shifting, hard tuning, and more are just a push, slide, or turn away. The VT-4’s combination of small size, simple controls, and USB-audio capabilities make it uniquely suited to altering your voice for YouTube broadcasts, game streaming, podcasting, and more. And with its compact size and five-hour battery life, you can use the VT-4 anywhere.
Insanely Creative
Today’s musical styles increasingly use unusual vocal sounds with heavy processing, making them stand out and grab the listener’s attention. With the VT-4, you have a wealth of modern and retro vocal effects at your fingertips, with no need to resort to a complicated setup with a computer and plug-ins. All the effects are top-notch, with everything from delay and reverb to mind-bending formant and vocoding effects. Better still, the VT-4’s performance-oriented interface lets you ride the controls while you sing to constantly alter the sound to suit the track and enhance the vibe of your performance.
Be Who You Want to Be
Great-sounding pitch and formant effects are hard to come by, especially without a computer. And real-time tweaking of these effects often results in nasty artifacts and other unpleasantness. With the VT-4 you have totally smooth, instant control over both pitch and formant, with dedicated faders for each. Changing presets and tweaking controls is smooth and immediate, with no jarring artifacts, glitches, or dropouts. Take on the persona of different characters in diverse locations, or sound larger than life when taunting your foes. Add humor, danger, wit, and variety to your streaming broadcasts-your imagination is your only limitation.
Transformative Effects
Achieving complex vocal effects is easy with the VT-4, and you can even use multiple effects at the same time. Use the central Auto-Pitch knob to dial in just the right amount of hard-tuned effect, then press the Megaphone button for some lo-fi raunchiness. Or run the vocoder through a tape delay or vintage chorus. Each effect has a selection of one-touch variations, so you can get different vocoder characteristics, various lo-fi effects, multi-part harmonies, and distinct kinds of reverb and delay. Chain your effects, set the controls just how you like them, and then simply hold down a preset button to save that setup for later.
MIDI Control
The VT-4 works great on its own and can harmonize and vocode without any input other than your voice. But plugging a MIDI keyboard into the VT-4 opens even more expressive possibilities, letting you control the Auto-Pitch, harmony, and vocoder engines in real time with the notes you play. You can hard-tune your voice to specific notes as you sing, or create instant multi-part harmonies with voicings that follow your chords. The VT-4’s small footprint sits nicely on most keyboards and is easy to integrate into your setup, dishing out huge backing vocals and funky vocoded leads by the bucketload.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the large black rectangle in photos a Foot Switch |
Answer: | Yes. That turns the effects or off |
Question: | I have a boss acoustic preamp with 2 outputs. Can I send one to this pedal and one to my mixer or does the instrument have to pass through |
Answer: | Sorry for the late reply! You can definitely send the pre-amp signal to this pedal; I use a Fishman Model G (old school) pre-amp coming out of my Ibanez acoustic. I gig regularly and don't have a great voice but do backing vocals for my wife. This definitely adds a lot of color to my harmonies and it also pitch corrects. A bit of advice: go for the extra power adapter which does NOT come with the pedal. This thing will eat batteries like you wouldn't believe and if you forget to shut it off, they're toast! Get the DC adapter and never worry about it! |
Question: | if you don't plug in a guitar, how do you differentiate between minor / major harmonies |
Answer: | All you need is the Major keys. Use your music theory to determine the relative minor/major relationship. ie: Am is also C Maj, Em is also G Maj etc. |
Question: | Unit supplies +48v to mic and output goes to mixer. mixer also supplies +48v to all mic input. will there be a conflict and damage mixer and ve |
Answer: | I've never used mine with phantom power but if you intend on doing so I would suggest allowing the VE-2 to supply the power to your condensor mic and then run the XLR output of the VE-2 to a regular mic input on your PA. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I play both a 6 string and 12 string together with a friend or by looping one and then swiching to other with a 1/4" Y connector plugged in both |
Answer: | Yes, you can build a switch station and direct guitars I use three. |
Question: | Is the looper easier to work than a Ditto, which you have to press twice to stop and keep playing and singing |
Answer: | A little. The looper on the VoiceLive is probably the easiest. |
Question: | Hello, it could be send to Mexico |
Answer: | Paul Morgan is right, but he didn't need to be a d**k about it. |
Question: | Is all I need to hook up the guitar is a cable with xlr on one end and 1/4" on the other |
Answer: | The input is a standard 1/4", however, the outputs are XLR only. That's one of the downsides of this unit. If you need a 1/4" output, you can use a line leveling transformer/adapter. That's what I used when I was still gigging with this. |

Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Can i run a single mono channel out or does it have to be stereo? ex. mic and keyboard in and output to a loop pedal and loop pedal to mixer |
Answer: | Yes, you can run a mono channel out. You technically don’t even need to run your keyboard into the unit with a 1/4 inch cable. . Running a midi cable from your board to the TC works the best |

Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Does the talk button turn off the effects while speaking to the audience to make it more clear |
Answer: | Yes! All effects but Tone, which makes your voice clearer anyway. I suspect that Anti-feedback is still on, as well...not a bad thing :) |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it do octave up and octave down easily? Or maybe that requires use of toneprint/programming |
Answer: | Toneprint is very simple to use. You can have octave up + octave down simultaneously, and have one octave coming in at a delay. but it's WAY more fun to put in strange close harmonies. |
Question: | Can it be used to play harmony in the style of Iron Maiden |
Answer: | Absolutely. If you have a hard time getting it set the way you want, be patient ; it takes a few hours to get used to how this pedal works, but once you figure it out, you can do Maiden harmonies pretty easily. Here is a hint. If you set the key to G major, and the mode harmonies to 3rd above, then you could play a maiden song in E minor (the relative minor of G major, for those who need some clarification), and it will play your harmony notes for you. Set it to 4the, and you can play some Steve Via type stuff. Lots of cool things. I love this pedal. I hope that helps. |
Question: | Does this pedal come with a power supply |
Answer: | No. Small pedals pretty much never come with a power supply, because they take 9v batteries. Sometimes they ship with a battery. |
Question: | Can you step on it for the harmony only, then release to gp back to solo? Im trying to find out if the pedal i have is defective |
Answer: | I think that’s how it works if you flip there lower switch to the down position. But honestly, I can’t get this thing to work the way I want most oof the time. They definitely need better instructional materials on the TC website. |

- Acoustic foam front and vented metal back plate. The two outer panels can be folded inward for storage or for creating a tighter acoustic isolation chamber.
User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with attachments/part to attach to the mic stand |
Answer: | I found that getting a heavy duty microphone stand works sufficiently but always put the leg of the tripod toward the front direction. Also, the clamps, although they work fine, have pads adhered to them which have come undone quickly likely due to the weight of the shield with a large condenser mic (and sometimes a pop screen). |
Question: | Will the shield work with a rode nt1-a shock mount |
Answer: | The Rode NT1-A microphone typically includes a Rode SM6 shock mount which features 5/8" threading. This microphone isolation shield has a standard 3/8" microphone threaded mount but it does include a 3/8" to 5/8" thread adapter which will work with the SM6. |
Question: | Will it make my vocals sound inside the beat like professional rappers |
Answer: | Aside from performance quality, you really need a halfway decent microphone (NO USB MICS!), a decent preamp, and learn to know what you're doing a bit by reading and practicing. Learning it yourself really is the best way. Start with the best mic-preamp combo you can afford, and upgrade as you can afford. Places like Guitar Center often let you listen to their different mics and preamps so you can get a feel for what works best for your (or the performer's) voice. If you can afford ~$400 for a mic, the Shure SM7 is a great rap/hip hop mic that's used on a lot of big name musicians' songs, and is surprisingly affordable. You can also start with something cheaper, like a Shure SM58 (~$100). It's not the best mic for the money, but a good, dependable mic that's used by everyone and still sees a ton of use, even by those with the money for much better. It's predictable, and a good starting point. Depending on the style, you may be better off with a dynamic mic (like the ones I suggested) vs one of the cheaper Chinese condenser mics, especially if the singer is loud, but the most important thing is to try a bunch out to see what sounds best within your budget. Once you have a reasonable mic and preamp, then you should focus on mic placement and technique with tracking and mixing, learning how to use DAW plug-ins and such. |
Question: | can someone stand in it and close it into a circle and record |
Answer: | Yes you can stand in it, so long as your 14 inches tall or LESS. Otherwise, NO !!!!!!!These isolators wrap around your mic ( Enclose it in a semi circle) and really make a huge difference in cleaning up outside, ambient noise.A MUST HAVE for a small home recording studio. |

Exciting new vocal harmony capability
Now it’s easier than ever to lead your own vocal backup group and sound rich and authentically human at the same time. It starts with a guitar, MIDI keyboard or aux-input controlled vocal harmony algorithm with four intervals, each of which can be unison-doubled or 8 discrete voices controlled by your MIDI keyboard playing. And when you want to tap into your gospel soul, there’s the completely new Choir algorithm that creates the massive multi-voice group vocal sound to bring home those memorable choruses.
More automatic features
When you’re worrying about parameter settings, you spend less time focusing on your music so we’ve automated several of VoiceLive 2’s features.
* Auto Mic Gain – now you can set the mic gain from a standing position just by singing. Once this is done there are no knobs to be jostled in transit and you can still do manual tweaks if you want to.
* Auto Gate – Feedback a problem? An all new Auto Gate listens to you and adjusts to reduce feedback and effects leak-through while you’re not singing.
* Adaptive Tone – A single push of the Tone button engages studio quality Shape EQ, compression and de-essing that adapts to the tonal range of your singing style and voice for increased impact and smoothed dynamics. Finally your live singing can have that studio polish.
* Reverb and Delay ducking – Increase the sustaining tail of your reverb and delay effects while carving out plenty of room for your lyrics with ducking. The level of the effects is reduced while you sing and then subtly increases after your last syllable for a paradoxical deeper ambience with enhanced intelligibility. Of course, this is all automatic – just select a ducking reverb or delay style, VoiceLive 2 does the rest.
A vocal effects powerhouse
OK we’ve put all our cards on the table here. Now that we have the processing power we’ve just put everything we have in VoiceLive 2. It’s all available simultaneously to take your voice, your performances and your music over the top. In addition to vocal harmony, you can construct or select preset effect chains containing effects to:
* Distort your voice – Grunge is good. Make a statement with the Transducer block that also has 4 pole filters for great megaphone and telephone effects.
* Clone your voice – employ up to 4 voices of humanized unison overdubs in addition to the 8 harmony voices. This sound has been used since recording began to fatten vocals, now it’s your turn.
* Expand your space – A completely new reverb algorithm envelops your voice in dense ambiences from teeny live rooms to concert halls and bright plate simulations. Don’t forget the delay block can serve to add depth or become a highlight effect whether it’s using tap tempo or tape delay styles.
* Mod ya later – The full µMod block brings lush chorus, slick microtuning, swooshing flange and more to the party. Those half time bridge sections never sounded more psychedelic.
Random access
Having a large chain of effects won’t do as much good if you can’t add and remove links in the chain when the mood strikes. The individual stompbox footswitches for Harmony, Doubling, µMod, Reverb, Delay and FX give you the flexibility to layer or simplify at will. Also, there’s a Shortcut footswitch that be assigned to add other interesting features such as tap tempo, harmony hold and others. There is no separation between Song mode and Preset mode as there was in the classic VoiceLive; each preset can have up to 50 steps each of which can contain a different preset or a simple modification of the main preset. Go ahead, get dirty and start creating now.
