User questions & answers

Question: Does this come with mic stand mount
Answer: No, there is no mount included.
Question: Volume is a power amp (output) function where as Gain is a pre amp (input) function. Is the knob below phantom power switch gain, not volume control
Answer: The knob below the phantom power switch is a volume knob that controls the mic input volume.
Question: Can you hook this up to a goxlr, to potentially further enhance your voices
Answer: A second method is to connect the 1/4"(L) and 1/4"(R) Output (line outs) from the Zoom V3 with an intermediary, impedance matching device, such as a Whirlwind pcDI box or similar, thus convert the two line outs from the Zoom V3 into a pair of XLR outputs, one of which can be passed on to the XLR microphone input on the GoXLR. This second method can be used to connect a Zoom V3 to a Zoom P8.
Question: How long do the batteries usually last
Answer: On four AA batteries the device will power for about 3.5 hours.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the switch latch in one position or the other or do you have to hold it down in order to activate it
Answer: I think it sends a signal directly through, without the A/B switches cutting off. That way you can have "intermission" music playing through amps and have guitars cut-off.
Question: Does this have an indicator light
Answer: You could, but you wouldn't be able to cut off the sources except by volume at the guitar. You'd use the thru input and regular input.
Question: Has anyone experienced spikes in audio levels through this? Mine does, even after I adjust gain levels
Answer: Paint it.
Question: Is there a noticable pop when switching channels
Answer: Paint/marker/electrical tape is your friend.

Product description

SCL2 Compressor. The SCL2 is a quiet and versatile processor. It is a two-channel compresser, limiter/expander and a gate all in one. It is an ideal live system processor that does a great job at the essentials of live sound presentation, preventing spikes of volume and potential distortion, and tames mics with the gate in such a way that your drums and vocals sound tighter and cleaner. It is a highly sophisticated and flexible dynamics processor designed for easy operation and great tone. The unit can be adjusted to provide anything from smooth, subtle compression to hard limiting. Noise reduction is provided by a fast solid gate or a subtle expander. • 1/4-Inch TRS Side Chain Inserts
  • 1/4-Inch TRS And XLR Balanced Inputs
  • 1/4-Inch TRS And XLR Balanced Outputs
  • Stereo Mode Balance Control

User questions & answers

Question: Does tnis insert between mixer and amps
Answer: It can insert any where you need it in your chain. I use this as a limiter insert from my mixer on my ambient microphones.
Question: Is this good for a Karaoke set up
Answer: Hi. It’s good for audio recording, not necessary for live/karaoke applications.
Question: Does it reduce the "hiss" during record with microphone
Answer: This unit does have a gate to reduce room noises from being picked up.. if you have hiss you may have a cheaper mic or preamp gain staging may not be right.. really hard to tell cause I dont know your recording chain..
Question: How do I use this in stereo
Answer: Your question doesn't specify how you want to "use this in stereo"; that being the case, I'd say there are really two ways to do so. The more obvious is, if you have a stereo signal to compress and it's already in two channels (right and left), just plug the right channel into one input on this unit, and the left channel into the other. Because you've got two channels going in already, this is really more of a "dual mono" use that lets you keep a stereo signal in stereo. But if what you're asking is how to take a signal that is on only one channel and split it into right channel and left channel, then run your signal into this unit with a TRS cable (let's say the input on Channel 1, for simplicity's sake) and make sure that the "Link" button on the front of the unit (between the controls for Channel 1 and the controls for Channel 2) is pushed in. This will ensure that the same settings you have on that channel (Channel 1, in our example) are applied to BOTH channels before being sent out of the unit and into whatever is next in your signal chain (mixer, DAW, whatever).

Answer: Yes. You can use the batteries as a backup . It is USB powered.
Question: I have wireless headphones and a condenser mic, would my headphones still monitor me

Find Your Voice

The VT-4 is an effect processor for the instrument inside us all-the human voice. And like the human voice, the VT-4 is easy to use, yet devastatingly effective. Whether you’re a solo electronic artist, DJ, or singer in a band, the VT-4 lets you craft and shape your own unique vocal sounds, from subtle augmentation to radical transformation. Everything is hands on, with no menu diving or programming to get in the way. Jaw-dropping effects like harmonizing, vocoding, pitch shifting, hard tuning, and more are just a push, slide, or turn away. The VT-4’s combination of small size, simple controls, and USB-audio capabilities make it uniquely suited to altering your voice for YouTube broadcasts, game streaming, podcasting, and more. And with its compact size and five-hour battery life, you can use the VT-4 anywhere.

Insanely Creative

Today’s musical styles increasingly use unusual vocal sounds with heavy processing, making them stand out and grab the listener’s attention. With the VT-4, you have a wealth of modern and retro vocal effects at your fingertips, with no need to resort to a complicated setup with a computer and plug-ins. All the effects are top-notch, with everything from delay and reverb to mind-bending formant and vocoding effects. Better still, the VT-4’s performance-oriented interface lets you ride the controls while you sing to constantly alter the sound to suit the track and enhance the vibe of your performance.

Be Who You Want to Be

Great-sounding pitch and formant effects are hard to come by, especially without a computer. And real-time tweaking of these effects often results in nasty artifacts and other unpleasantness. With the VT-4 you have totally smooth, instant control over both pitch and formant, with dedicated faders for each. Changing presets and tweaking controls is smooth and immediate, with no jarring artifacts, glitches, or dropouts. Take on the persona of different characters in diverse locations, or sound larger than life when taunting your foes. Add humor, danger, wit, and variety to your streaming broadcasts-your imagination is your only limitation.

Transformative Effects

Achieving complex vocal effects is easy with the VT-4, and you can even use multiple effects at the same time. Use the central Auto-Pitch knob to dial in just the right amount of hard-tuned effect, then press the Megaphone button for some lo-fi raunchiness. Or run the vocoder through a tape delay or vintage chorus. Each effect has a selection of one-touch variations, so you can get different vocoder characteristics, various lo-fi effects, multi-part harmonies, and distinct kinds of reverb and delay. Chain your effects, set the controls just how you like them, and then simply hold down a preset button to save that setup for later.

MIDI Control

The VT-4 works great on its own and can harmonize and vocode without any input other than your voice. But plugging a MIDI keyboard into the VT-4 opens even more expressive possibilities, letting you control the Auto-Pitch, harmony, and vocoder engines in real time with the notes you play. You can hard-tune your voice to specific notes as you sing, or create instant multi-part harmonies with voicings that follow your chords. The VT-4’s small footprint sits nicely on most keyboards and is easy to integrate into your setup, dishing out huge backing vocals and funky vocoded leads by the bucketload.
