Product description

Yamaha has always strived to provide sound engineers with the purest possible signal instead of added processing or color to give it a "signature" sound, and the MG Series is no exception. Embracing this philosophy of transparent sound, these mixing consoles deliver a level of sonic purity and sound quality that is unmatched in their class. This is where it all starts. Everything you do as a sound engineer is dependent on the quality of your preamps, which determines the direction your mix will take, and ultimately how good it is going to sound. MG Series mixing consoles feature Yamaha's studio-grade discrete class-A D-PRE preamps, which utilize an inverted Darlington circuit comprising two cascading transistors in a configuration that provides more power with lower impedance. Delivering fat, natural sounding bass and smooth, soaring highs, with very low distortion, D-PRE preamps possess an impressively wide frequency range that allow them to handle signal from any audio source without overly amplifying any specific elements of the sound. Having such a pure sonic platform to build on will ultimately save you time and effort by eliminating the need for excessive EQing or additional effects processing in order to "fix" your mix.

  • 6 channel standalone mixer (No USB)
  • Featuring studio grade discrete class A D PRE preamps with inverted Darlington circuit: Providing fat, natural sounding bass and smooth, soaring highs
  • 3 band EQ and high pass filters give you maximum control and eliminate unwanted noise, resulting in a cleaner mix
  • 1 Knob compressors allow easy control: Resulting in livelier guitars, punchier bass lines, a tighter snare and a cleaner vocal sound.
  • MG Series mixers feature a rugged, impact resistant, powder coated metal chassis

User questions & answers

Question: Can i connect mg06x-6 to tv
Answer: here's one: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Hosa/Stereo-1-4-Inch-Male-TRS-to-Dual-Male-RCA-Insert-Cable.gc
Question: Can i connect its out to irig pre (phone-audio interface) which ultimately connected to phones for recording over iphone/ipads
Answer: This mixer with its quality mic preamps (real ones, with plenty of adjustable gain) , EQ, channel output volume, etc. is far superior to the iRig Pre. I tried the iRig Pre (and reviewed it) and didn't like it. To emulate the iRig Pre connections, get a TRRS (male) adapter you plug into your phone/tablet that breaks out separate speaker 1/8" TRS (female) and mic 1/8" TRS (female) connectors. You could use either the XLR or the 1/4" outputs of the mixer as input to the mic 1 /8" TRS connector on the adapter. Unlike the iRig Pre, with a mixer like this you have the option of listening to the realtime output of the mixer from its headphone jack or plug your headphones into the speaker 1/8" (female) connector on the adapter to hear it how the phone/ tablet is recording it (which can be time-delayed making it difficult to speak live while listening to non-realtime audio).
Question: Are the 1/4 inch outputs TRS for balanced signal to another TRS input? I'm planning on using this as a simple mixer for input to a Bose L1 Compact
Answer: The outputs are Stereo outputs, both L and R. (shown on the blue areas of image)
Question: Can headphones and stereo out be be controlled independently? I want to listen to either headphones OR speakers, not both at once
Answer: On the MG10XU there are two volumes controls. Stereo out and Monitor/Headphones out. I can't tell if this has both knobs or not. You can check the manual for the technical diagram.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I add echo and reverb at to the mic
Answer: Hi. Any of the onboard effects will work with the with Mic channels. One effect at a time, though.
Question: Is this mixer capable of "mix minus" configuration? If so how is it done? I cant seem to get it to produce any audio from the "fx send" port
Answer: been trying to determine this for my own setup. thus far it seems No as the AUX is post fader. im trying to isolate the mic on the FX send and have it removed from the main mix.. nothing seems to allow this to happen. i can get the FX send to work but if the usb and the FX send are connected to the same source, both signals carry the mic audio...
Question: Can this do multitrack recording
Answer: This is a mixer and not any type of recording device. This operates on USB and does not have any recording capability built-in. This is used to record multiple sources at one time and make that into one Stereo/Mono audio output that can be used with a recording software, streaming software, or even a live speaker system. You can record the main output via computer, but even then, this will all be one audio stream, not one for each separate channel.
Question: who made it
Answer: Probably someone who works for Yamaha.

Question: Is this item same as one sold for $124 .00 and does this item have special effect as shown in side by compared item
Answer: When in doubt always go XLR, that’s the cleanest signal you can have and it’s grounded, hence the the clean, noise free signal! There are cases where you’ll be running TRS 1/4’ phone jacks that are balanced but you’ll need the 1/4’ with the TRS - Tip, Ring, Sleeve. Basically if you’re not grounded or using cables that are grounded, then you’re completely unbalanced and risking noise and feedback!
Question: does it come with a power supply to wall
Answer: Yes, it can be used with wireless mics.
Question: Does it come with xlr cables? thanks
Answer: This is package comes with cable as well
Question: its 110 t0 240 volts
Answer: William is right, it shows as a 2x2 interface. What goes into the 2 channel digital input is controlled by a switch in the middle of the mixer.

User questions & answers

Question: How many channels will you see in Cubase? For editing sound
Answer: William is right, it shows as a 2x2 interface. What goes into the 2 channel digital input is controlled by a switch in the middle of the mixer.
Question: Does it work as a stand alone mixer? (without being plugged into a PC/Mac
Answer: Yes, it's an analog amp, so you can just plug XLR, 1/4", or RCA inputs to it, then run the output to speakers, but you might want to look for something else if you don't intend to use the USB interface, there's a lot of options in that category.
Question: Will this work on Mac
Answer: Yes: "USB bus powered for Mac & PC."
Question: could this product be used for gaming
Answer: Yes, that is what I currently use it for.

User questions & answers

Question: FX has long echo effect. Does it provide good echo effect as that of other mixers? Is echo effect is also in Behringer 802 mixer
Answer: This is the correct cable to use when going stereo to mono. Stereo(2 black rings on actual 3.5mm input prong) to mono(one black ring on 1/4" input prong). BUT 'thru your i-phone'? IDK, thats a little vague. I use this cable with a Guitar/I-Rig/I-Pad/AMP. Guitar 1/4" patch cable out from I-Rig to Guitar. This cable's 3.5mm stereo end from I-Rig to AMPLIFIER 1/4" input. I-Rig into I-Pad headphone jack.
Question: Is this effects mixer good for Karaoke
Answer: There are no resistors in this wire. The stereo signals are simply shorted together. This cable's proper use is 1/4" mono output to a 3.5mm stereo input.
Question: I keep seeing that a mixer doesn’t record voices?? how can i use this for a podcast? whatelse do i need
Answer: I've been using it to connect ipad/iphone/portable DVD player to a PA system with no problems at all.
Question: Can you apply the digital effects to just certain inputs like 2 mics, but leave the music alone? I'm looking to upgrade from the 802 without FX
Answer: It's designed to split in 2 outputs from 1 input and not 3 outputs

User questions & answers

Question: How long does the batteries last, and can you get electric for it
Answer: Batteries last quite a while - I have not yet exhausted the first pair of batteries I put in. Unfortunately, there is no input for external power, so you're limited to batteries, but AA batteries are cheap, and it's easy to carry spares.
Question: Whats the difference between the red and blue ? - the blue is noticably more expensive. Thanks
Answer: The blue has an XLR jack for a microphone. The red has a quarter inch jack for guitar/bass only.
Question: Are any of the ports USB
Answer: No Sir. It comes with an aux cable, but I suggest that you get at least another one to connect from output to mixer or from mixer to input. also if you plan to use a mic you will need an xlr mic and stand unless you don’t mind holding it.
Question: Are the "chain" outputs individual stereo outputs
Answer: They are not outputs, per se. I would think each must use a stereo cable so that each is both an input and output if it's to chain with another device. I am hoping someone can tell me if I can use one as just an input in addition to the Aux In.

User questions & answers

Question: There are three holes underneath profxj10v3. are they for mounting
Answer: Yes, there is an optional adapter you can get to mount it atop a mic stand for easy live access.
Question: Would like to get this mixer but some people say in reviews there are major issues with Windows 10; can a Mackie specialist please clarify
Answer: I’m not a specialist but I just downloaded the drivers from their website and it works perfectly for me.
Question: It says 2x4 usb i/o. does that mean i can get 4 channels into my daw simultaneously
Answer: Hello, 2x4 means that you have a stereo send to the computer and two stereo returns from your computer. The stereo output (1-2) to your computer can be used for recording, VOIP, etc, and you can return two distinct stereo tracks (1-2, 3-4) from your Mac/PC giving you the ability to route audio from different applications (DAW, Spotify, Youtube, etc) or sources (.mp3/WAV playback) from within your computer.
Question: I see that the mackie profx12v3 has a 48v phantom power switch. can non-phantom and phantom mikes be used at the same time? one be on, others off
Answer: Yes. Condenser microphones often require 48V phantom power. When the 48V phantom power switch is engaged on ProFX series mixers all channels have this extra voltage available. With phantom power, the voltage is effectively invisible to balanced microphones that do not use it, which includes most dynamic microphones.
