Easy like that. This is the right way to connect this professional mic to your computer, so you can control volume level through "knobs"..... Answer:	First of all, the AKG P120 is a condenser microphone so it requires +48V to operate. Computers and laptops do not supply sufficient phantom power for condenser mics. We recommend getting an audio interface, mixer, or mic preamp that supplies +48V phantom power and can be connected to you Macbook's port.

Answer:	I haven't used the Audio Technica, but my akg perception 220 records my vibraphone nearly as well as the akg c-414 that I used to own. And the c-414 is much more expensive. I'm very pleased with the 220.

Answer:	Nope. Most mics don't come with a cable. You need an XLR cable the ones with the 3 plugs, it will allow you to provide phantom power to the mic.

Answer:	xlr yes, and it will pick up through AYTHING you connect it to with that cable, so long as SOMETHING in the chain provides it phantom power (usb interface, mixer with preamp, stand alone preamp, etc)
