    User questions & answers

Question: I'm deciding between this and the Audio Technica AT2035. Which one is a better microphone? I'd be using it for guitar, vocals, and percussion
Answer: I haven't used the Audio Technica, but my akg perception 220 records my vibraphone nearly as well as the akg c-414 that I used to own. And the c-414 is much more expensive. I'm very pleased with the 220.
Question: does the microphone come with a cable
Answer: Nope. Most mics don't come with a cable. You need an XLR cable the ones with the 3 plugs, it will allow you to provide phantom power to the mic.
Question: So to make this work i need XLR into preamp and then preamp into mixer then mixer output usb to computer
Answer: xlr yes, and it will pick up through AYTHING you connect it to with that cable, so long as SOMETHING in the chain provides it phantom power (usb interface, mixer with preamp, stand alone preamp, etc)
Question: Where does it "made in
Answer: It's designed in Germany and made in China.

    User questions & answers

Question: how do i record with this mic, on my macbook, using garage band. Does it bring a Usb to connect mic to laptop
Answer: The box doesn't contain any cables; it's just the mic and a shock mount. This is a purely analog device, and it connects via an XLR connection so you'll need an audio interface of some sort which supports XLR devices. As this is a condenser microphone, you'll need an audio interface which can also supply phantom power. A lot of simple cables which purport to connect XLR devices via USB don't supply any phantom power, so beware.
Question: Is this the newer p420 version or is it the discontinued one? it looks like the newer ones are labled p420 instead of "perception 420" like this one
Answer: Hi Benjamin,This listing is for the new P420. Looks like Amazon has an incorrect title. I'll submit a ticket to have that corrected. We do have the new AKG P420's in stock and that is what we will ship if ordered from us.Thanks!New World Pro Audio877-802-0416
Question: I want to use this as a church pulpit mic. Can I speak into it from 24 inches away and it still pick up strong
Answer: IF it is connected to a mixer/audio interface that has 48v phantom power, yes, you can definitely speak from it, even at 2 feet away. that would require upping the gain though. But yes, defly you can. :)
Question: What is the difference between the 420 and the
Answer: The 420 is a dual diaphragm microphone with 3 selectable polar patterns. The 220 is a single, large diaphragm microphone. This means the 420 is more versatile. It can be used on vocals, instruments, cabinets, or as a room/atmospheric microphone. The 420 is, also, a bit more sensitive.

  • User questions & answers

Question: I want to know if comes with the shock mount mic holder. I don’t need the spidermount
Answer: Aside from the pop filter and XLR cable, the AKG P120 Microphone Bundle includes the mic stand stand adapter as shown here [https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71LJ1aqcMeL._AC_SL1500_.jpg].
Question: What stand can you use for this
Answer: You can use the either of AKG KM259/5, KM210/6, or KM256/80 mic stand.
Question: what adapter do i need to connect this to a macbook
Answer: First of all, the AKG P120 is a condenser microphone so it requires +48V to operate. Computers and laptops do not supply sufficient phantom power for condenser mics. We recommend getting an audio interface, mixer, or mic preamp that supplies +48V phantom power and can be connected to you Macbook's port.
