11 best microphone phantom power supplies
Microphone phantom power supplies are essential devices in the field of audio recording and production. They are used to provide power to condenser microphones and other active microphones that require an external power source for proper operation. Phantom power supplies are commonly used in recording studios, live sound setups, and other audio applications where high-quality audio capture is necessary.
Key Features and Functions:
Powering Condenser Microphones: Condenser microphones, especially large-diaphragm and studio-quality microphones, require a power source to operate. Phantom power supplies provide the necessary voltage (usually 48 volts) to these microphones, allowing them to function properly.
Compatibility: Phantom power supplies are compatible with a wide range of microphones, making them a versatile solution for audio professionals. They can power multiple microphones simultaneously, provided that the total power consumption does not exceed the supply's capacity.
Balanced Audio: Phantom power is delivered through the same balanced audio cables used to transmit audio signals. This means that the power is transmitted alongside the audio signal, minimizing interference and maintaining high audio quality.
Studio and Live Sound Applications: Phantom power supplies are used in both studio and live sound environments. In recording studios, they are crucial for capturing clean and detailed audio. In live sound setups, they power microphones on stage, ensuring clear sound for performances.
Phantom Power Indicator: Many phantom power supplies feature indicator lights to show when the power is active. This helps audio engineers confirm that the microphones are receiving the necessary power.
Portable Options: There are portable phantom power supplies available, allowing musicians and recording artists to use condenser microphones with devices like smartphones and tablets that do not provide phantom power on their own.
Preventing Damage: Phantom power supplies are designed to prevent damage to dynamic microphones and other non-powered microphones. They deliver power only to microphones that specifically require it, ensuring that other types of microphones are not harmed.
Rack-Mountable Options: In professional audio setups, rack-mountable phantom power supplies are available, allowing easy integration into existing audio systems.
Phantom power supplies are indispensable tools in the world of audio recording and are instrumental in ensuring high-quality, noise-free recordings, making them a vital component for musicians, sound engineers, and recording professionals.

User questions & answers
Question: | How do I connect it to a computer |
Answer: | Yes. Since the amp will not provide phantom power to a microphone, you can connect the mic to this and this to the amp. |
Question: | How do you connect it |
Answer: | This yes I brought both at2030 and this trash phantom power supply...it lasted me 5 hours then started giving me a buzzing noise. Don’t recommend. |
Question: | I have tried to hook up this contraption to my Karaoke machine, but to no avail..I have cords but nothing. Why |
Answer: | Do not buy -- absolute garbage. |
Question: | do this work wit lexicon alpha |
Answer: | Yes, they should. I have used them with some A-T pro 45 mic's. I am not familiar with the boundary mic's, but power should be the same. They worked fine for me. I upgraded to a mixer that had phantom power and no longer needed them. Make sure you don't already have a phantom source available. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use this to plug a condenser mic into a keyboard for vocoder |
Answer: | This is just a power supply for condenser mics. You plug your mic into this thing, then plug this thing into your mix board. If you want to connect the mic to your computer, you'll need a sound card. You'll also need some sort of adapter to convert this thing's XLR output to whatever your sound card takes. This really isn't a product for connecting a mic to a computer. |
Question: | Will this phantom power device power a FP-33 stereo mixer with this |
Answer: | It comes with the power cable to plug it into the wall outlet. It’s not wireless. |
Question: | Will this phantom power device power a microphone for at least one hour on a 9 volt battery |
Answer: | You need a cable that converts the xlr output to usb input. Otherwise it works perfectly for computer input. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why are the only reviews on this product a "Vine Customer" ? Seems a bit set up |
Answer: | The Algo 8186 is the SIP Paging Speaker and IP Loud Ringer that requires PoE as detailed in the product bullets and desciption. It does NOT include a PoE switch or PoE injector (midspan) so you will need that capability to support this VoIP device. Check the product description for more information and any recommendations or requirements. If you are unsure of how to connect the Algo 8186, please contact your Algo dealer. |
Question: | With phantom power on, how long does it last |
Answer: | 25mm back-electret, brass-looking, you can see them on Amazon Prime: VOXDIDA 1PC CM012 . Normally you would have a narrow front cardioid lobe and a weaker narrow rear lobe sensitivity, but if you block the rear of a cardioid you get an OMNI out of it. This mike will block "some" of the typical rear lobe, with it's rear PCB assy. Probably pretty good for a studio, and OK for stage if your PA is not aiming right at it, but do not expect feedback miracles. |
Question: | Is there an option for attaching shoe mount |
Answer: | It fits the generic mic stand screw. Any stand you pick up from guitar center or your local music should fit it. (I’m pretty sure 5/8th is the standard but can’t recall) |
Question: | My at2020 isn't getting enough quiet gain on my dbx 286. can i use this inbetween my dbx to get an added quiet gain boost |
Answer: | A Uni can still hear off the back, however, this unit does have the PCB right behind the rear capsule-vents internally, which will force it to have a wider front pattern. |

Antlion Audio XLR Power Converter
The Antlion XLR Power Converter is the most efficient way to use a 3.5mm microphone with a mixer, audio interface, or other 48V, 3-pin, XLR power source. The converter decreases the operating voltage to a safe level for all 5V, 3.5mm microphones. Our built-in proximity compensator recognizes the way voices change as a microphone nears the source and adjusts the signal accordingly, delivering the most natural sounding voice regardless of proximity. An ideal choice for streaming and casting.
Reduces Input Power
Converts phantom power to plug-in power, decreasing the voltage from 12-48V phantom power to 3-5V plug-in power. Great addition between your unbalanced mic and your balanced interfaces.
Built-In Proximity Compensator
A built-in proximity compensator reduces any extra bass that occurs when your mic is too close to your mouth. Bass-reduction also minimizes the loud sound of ‘p’s and ‘b’s (‘plosives). Overall sound is delivered with more natural vocals when using boom microphones.
Hi-Fi Audio
Antlion XLR Power Converter shields audio signals from interference and enhances the sound by minimizing the power and bass output. Clear XLR quality, high-fidelity audio.
Universal Compatibility
The XLR Power Converter works with all 48 volt 3-pin XLR interfaces. Connect to field recorders, XLR cameras, mixers, audio consoles, amps, preamps, and more.
