Monoprice 611815 15Watt, 1 x 12 Guitar Combo Tube Amplifier with Celestion Speaker & Spring Reverb

Based on 508 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Get superior guitar tone and flexibility using this 15-Watt, 1x12 Guitar Combo Tube Amplifier with Celestion Speaker & Spring Reverb from Monoprice! As the title indicates, this guitar amplifier features a 15-watt tube power amplifier and a Celestion brand speaker. It uses three ECC83/12AX7 preamplification tubes and two EL84 power tubes for the amplifier section, plus a Celestion Red Truvox 1215 speaker. The EL84 tube is the tube that powered the Mullard amplifiers favored by the British Invasion bands of the 1960s. It can produce a full output from a relatively small signal and is therefore easily overdriven to produce that distinctive chiming, treble-heavy sound, especially when compared to the 6L6 tubes more commonly used in 1960s era American guitar amps. The amplifier handles frequencies between 80Hz and 10kHz, with hum and noise -75dB below the rated power and 0.5% total harmonic distortion. It includes a Low input and a High input, with the former attenuating the signal by approximately 50% and the latter being easier to overdrive. The cabinet is ported in the rear and features a leather handle, cloth speaker grill, and a cream-colored, textured, synthetic leather exterior with chrome corner guards. The amp features a genuine spring reverb with the ability to enable it remotely using a foot switch. It supports FX send and receive, so you can either connect it to an effects processor or use the send/receive connections as line out and line in connections. Two inputs allow you to select between the full power mode and a 1 watt limited amplification mode for recording or late night practice sessions.

Question: Can you connect mic
Answer: Yes. I have used a harmonica mic through it, but prefer a larger amp. It is a small amp, so it'd seem to not offer much for voice.
Question: Can you use headphones with this
Answer: Yes.
Question: Can you connect a lapel mic system
Answer: If your lapel mike is wireless, the receiver needs a 1/4 inch output jack. If wired, the mike itself needs a 1/4 inch plug at the end of the cable. Otherwise, you will need a converter for the mike for the balanced three prong output to be adapted to the amplifier.
Question: Can this amplifier work with electric drums
Answer: Yes. I took a chance and it works very good. Wanted a cheaper one for my boy and works good.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this work for my 300 watts rms / 400 watts program / 600 watts peak. passive pro dj subwoofer
Answer: Yes, but you have to be careful at what Impedence (Ohm) load the speakers are going to be driven. With this amp to get a max of 500w RMS bridged with a 4 ohm load. With an 8ohm load. Which afe typically mostly used in homes because the require less amplifier power to drive the speaker. This amp puts out 360w RMS with the 8 ohm load. Again this is bridged and having output to one sub. This is a stereo amp that can bridged to increase power through one channel. Hope this helps
Question: I am thinking i can use this to power my surround back speakers from my optona tx rz 920 any thoughts? wanna get
Answer: I am using this amp to power my rear surround speakers with my Marantz SR7010 used in a 9.1.2 configuration. I run Front Wide speakers in this setup. I like the amp just fine. I modified mine by adding a second cooling fan as one of the reviews on the Monoprice site suggested. I ended up using all the parts that the reviewer did including the T.B.815 fans. The only thing I did differently was that I fabricated a second fan mounting bracket that bolts into the pre-drilled mounting holes on the other side of the amp instead of zip ties used in Monoprice review. This amp was obviously designed with 2 fans in mind. The reason that I made this modification is that I considered the stock fan, although not real loud, to be a little too loud for home theater use. You will have to make that decision for yourself. The amp runs very cool, although I believe it also would have with the stock (Higher Speed) fan, just a bit louder. Make sure that you find and read that Monoprice review. I'm not at all sorry that I bought this amp. I knew, from reading reviews, that it was very possible that I MIGHT consider the fan too loud. It really isn't that loud Hope this helps; Jack
Question: Does this amp have an intertnal fan? and if so, how loud is the fan
Answer: Yes. Some have said in their reviews that it is a bit noisy, but I haven’t found it distracting or bothersome. The amp performs well.
Question: how do you connect the speaker cables
Answer: You can use 1/4in class 2 or speakon connections
