User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with the AC power adapter
Answer: It sure attracts gnats, fruit flies , etc...not sure it attracts spiders but its sticky and if they walk on it it will stop them there. This product works very well for flying insects.
Question: Can I use this for my guitar? I have an Ovation Celebrity acoustic/electric guitar
Answer: You push the triangle down into the dirt of your houseplant. If you do that, then the butterfly will stay upright by itself. Otherwise it will not stand up by itself.
Question: Can phantom power be switched off so I can use a dynamic mic
Answer: They trap every single thing that touches them. They are SO sticky. I believe they have a scent that we cannot detect. Very very sticky. Love them. Do not let your plants touch them, or they will be stuck permanently. Be careful of your fingers when you peel off the covering. Would HIGHLY recommend these.
Question: Has anyone used the interface under linux (Debian, AVLinux, or Ubunto). Thinking of using as DSLR pre, but need an interface as well. What say you
Answer: It would be fine but they also make larger sheets -it’s basically bright yellow to attract and sticky to keep the gnats and then stop the cycle.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this accommodate moving coil or moving magnet phone inputs
Answer: That is all you do. Seal goes in the trash. Yes, top is open & can spill. It did not work for us at all.
Question: Recently SoundSaver Express app started to hang with the (Not Responding) window pop up. Removed/reinstalled and same thing happened. Any advice
Answer: It is a passive trap - not necessarily an attractant - so if a fruit fly lands on it the fly will be stuck. Those are sticky!
Question: is this the ART USB 2.0 Phono Plus Project Series (which is the current model
Answer: Absolutely! I cut them into small squares and stick them to my kitchen garbage container.
Question: Can this be used as an improved DAC over laptop's to send music to my receiver from my hard drive
Answer: Worked for me on most flying insects

User questions & answers

Question: Is the headphone jack on this for monitoring your inputs, or does your PC audio come through it aswell
Answer: Hi, You can monitor your inputs and listen to playback from your computer simultaneously, which allows you to create overdubs with next to zero latency. You can either choose to monitor the inputs using the Direct Monitor switch, or you can use the Input Monitor feature in your DAW. If using the Direct Monitor feature the input signal will be passed directly to the line and headphone outputs, whereas if you use the Input Monitor feature in your DAW, you will be hearing the audio you're recording back from your DAW. In either case, you can still hear any other audio playing back from your DAW at the same time as recording. Best regards, Laurence Clarke // Focusrite Technical Support
Question: What type of usb cable does this come with? is it a type-c to type-c or a type-c to type-a
Answer: Hi, This comes with a type-c to type-a cable. If you have type-c ports, you will need to purchase a type-c to type-c USB cable separately. Best regards, Laurence Clarke // Focusrite Technical Support
Question: Does the XLR input only record audio to the left side
Answer: Hi, When recording a single microphone, you should ensure that you create a mono audio track in your DAW instead of a stereo audio track. When you record onto a mono audio track, the output from that track will be heard on both sides of your headphones or speakers (ensuring the output is set to stereo), however, if you record onto a stereo track, the audio will just be recorded onto the left side of a stereo file and you will ony hear it on the left of your headphones/speakers. This is explained in more detail here: https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/206849779?flash_digest=62885ef974b4eb116f3b3ea2c9b9c38ddb871473 Best regards, Laurence Clarke // Focusrite Technical Support
Question: can this power 250 ohm headphones

  • Multi-input A/V Direct Box with XLR Output

User questions & answers

Question: Would this work for something like the at3350 lav mike going into a tascam dr
Answer: Mine is Project series and manual clearly says it is BOTH USB 1.1 and 2. However, no A/C power came with it (one reviewer said his did). Mine also came with USB cable (one reviewer said his didn't). Mine does have a volume on the Monitor Output, so (according to one reviewer) that makes it the v2 (new) version. Order mine late May, 2014.
Question: Can I use two of the inputs at the same time, say RCA and TRS? I need to switch back and forth between 2 iPods. I can balance the levels at the source
Answer: For this device, the direction of signal flow is from the low signal level analogue domain (vinyl/LP/phono) to the digital domain (USB/Optical). Thus, this ART unit is not a Digital-to-Analog(ue) Converter (the "DAC" sort of unit which you specify) but its "opposite" an "ADC" (Analogue-to-Digital Converter). This unit is also a phono preamplifier which boosts the low voltage signal from the moving magnet or moving coil phonograph pickup to higher "line level" in order to drive a subsequent (in the signal path) separate amplifier--or to supplement a hi-fi receiver or preamp lacking (as is often the case) a phono input. In other words, this ART is primarily a phono preamplifier--something to supply gain (amplification) to drive headphones or the just mentioned follow-on analog(ue) audio switching, processing, or amplifying units. You might think of this ART USB Phono Plus as a tidy little combination of two functions: (1) Phono Preamp/Headphone Monitoring Amplifier and (2) ADC (Analog to Digital USB or Optical). By the way, this unit is at least the equal of anything else in its price range with respect to preserving the audio signal quality. It is capable of passing the usable dynamic range of which LPs are capable without the compression mentioned by another person answering your question... and without adding distortion you are likely to be able to hear considering the masking effects of the much larger combined distortions which are inherent to the recording and playback medium that is vinyl (e.g., the "LP" phonograph record). (There are many who disagree with this last point, however.)Finally, the quality or fidelity of the music or other sound which you play "off" your computer's hard drive can be no better than the quality of the original signal encoded in digital format to your hard drive. If you have high bit-rate, high definition source material (CD quality or better) on your hard drive, the sound processor chip on your laptop's motherboard is almost certainly going to degrade that signal by contaminating it with noise and compromising its dynamic range (or degrade other aspects of the signal as well). If high quality sound output from high quality source material is your goal, then you'd do better to use a high quality "soundcard" (installed in desktop computer OR use an "outboard" soundcard (i.e., a so-called "audio interface"). ASUS makes a fine soundcard for the consumer market (http://www.amazon.com/PCI-Express-XONAR-ESSENCE-STX-90-YAA0C0-0UAN00Z/dp/B001OV789U/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422964422&sr=1-2&keywords=asus+sound+card+xonar) but be sure to read the review comments to get the installation right from the get-go on Windows machines. If you are an audiophile, you can find computer soundcards costing almost 10 times what the ASUS does... but not sounding appreciably better. As far as the external audio interfaces go, there are many excellent, quite affordable (from $100-$500... or more, of course) devices aimed at musicians and recordists for use in their semi-pro (or pro) home studios. These days, in a given price range, the digital signal processing chips used in these devices are either the same or very close cousins of one another (sourcing from just a few chip makers). You can see that in how close the specs are between brands and models in a given range. Thus, the differences in price often have more to do with features and flexibility (e.g., numbers and types of inputs and outputs), build quality and best engineering practices, and, of course, "brand reputation"--than the fundamental parameters.
Question: Hi i just bought a av direct artcessories, to conect a dbr12 yamaha speaker but does not improve any what i doing wrong can you help me on this plea
Answer: USB powers it, though I understand you can order an optional AC adapter.
Question: xlr in and out
Answer: Hello, The ART USB Dual Pre should have enough gain to act as a guitar preamp, If your goal is to use it to pre-amplify your guitar output and record it via USB on your computer it will do the trick. I've had great success using mine for various esoteric computer interface challenges. It works great on Mac and Windows machines.

User questions & answers

Question: My single coil pups are picking up interference (nearby laptop, etc) and causing my amp to hum and click; higher gain makes it worse. will this work
Answer: This listing is very messed up on Amazon right now. The picture Amazon has up is for a totally different unit, and their description is for a totally different unit. The T Connect is an instrument input for your computer. So you plug it directly into a guitar, bass, or keyboard and then it converts it to digital and inputs it into your computer via USB.
Question: I want to use my studio monitors with my Macbook Pro. What cable do I need to use to plug this into my laptop
Answer: Hi Adam, yes it does work with Windows 8.1, and should work fine with Windows 10 as well when it comes out as it uses a universal driver. If this was helpful, please consider buying from us. - Pixel Pro Audio
Question: does it have a ground "lift" option, switchable
Answer: No. Typically, a moving coil cartridge puts out a much lower level signal (albeit a more accurate one), and usually requires a preamp with some switching capability between a standard level and the MMC level. This unit does not have that feature
Question: Is it possible to use two sets of outputs - as in run the XLR outputs to the house PA and run the line outs to a keyboard amp so band can monitor
Answer: I wasn't able to install Soundsaver on my iMac, plus there is no support available anywhere. Get Audacity, it's free and works just fine.

User questions & answers

Question: Does is work on 220v
Answer: The AVDirect will accept either line or speaker-level input. You might try using an adapter to convert the connection on the lav mic from 1/8" to 1/4" for input to the DR-40.As always, Front End Audio is happy to help. Please let us know if you have any other questions about this product. Thank you!
Question: What do I need for a cable for the out put of the preamp (1/4") male to the sound card which is probably eighth
Answer: The RCA and TRS (quarter-inch and eighth-inch) are all paralleled together inside the device, according to the schematic in the package. You can probably use two inputs and get by with it, but there is nothing in the device to isolate the two inputs from each other. It's just like using a Y-connector to feed two devices into one - it sometimes works but it's risky. In an extreme case, the signal from one device can get back into the other device and possibly cause damage. Likely? Probably not. Possible? Yes.This box does a good job of correctly summing the two stereo channels into a single mono output. It does nothing to sum two inputs - it just parallels them together.Remember, Y-connectors are designed for splitting signals, not for combining signals. Rane has a good discussion of the correct and incorrect uses of Y-connectors at http://www.rane.com/note109.html.
Question: Will this work with a Shure overhead condenser mic in a church sanctuary? Mic into preamp, preamp into open channel on the mixer
Answer: You don't need this adapter for that speaker, it already has line input. This adapter is to connect a line signal, either 1/4in, RCA or amplified speaker output into to an XLR for a mixer board or other device with XLR input.
Question: Is this more of a preamp or compressor
Answer: It only has XLR out.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this 240 volts
Answer: I would say no. The hum you're getting is induced into your pick-up as a part of your audio signal. This is a transformer isolation device which breaks ground-loop hum which is caused by slightly different currents between 2 different 120 volt outlets.
Question: Is the FX loop global to all inputs? I'd like to apply it only to mic inputs, and not the line inputs, but there appear to be no channel sends
Answer: Hi Jason,I would use an 1/8" to XLR Male Y cable like this:http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CYX-403M-Stereo-Breakout-Cable/dp/B000068OEP/ref=sr_1_9?m=A3QYKZ7LXW9O3&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1448889739&sr=1-9&keywords=hosa+1%2F8+to+xlrIf this was helpful, please consider purchasing from us. We have them both in stock and ready to ship. - Pixel Pro Audio
Question: Looking for a art 2000 express rack mount
Answer: No "BUT" all outputs are ground isolated from the chassis so a "lift" switch is not necessary when using this.
Question: What does the in/out button on the fx loop do
Answer: Yes, the input signal, regardless of connector used, is present on all outputs. http://artproaudio.com/downloads/specsheets/ss_dti.pdf

User questions & answers

Question: I've eliminated most hum with xlr cables, but some of my equipment does not have xlr connections. Do you think this will remove any remaining hum
Answer: You would have to get. a different power supply. This thing is not really suitable for high quality recording. To noisy. Live at modest volume levels it is ok.It comes with 110. You could buy a converter. Perhaps it is available through a UK supplier with a 220 volt power supply. Try this .... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B008879GO8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472180913&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=art+tube+mp%2Fc&dpPl=1&dpID=51Y7mEVBU-L&ref=plSrch
Question: If I run a signal in and out of the xlrs on one channel, can I use the 1/4" output on that channel to run a signal to an audio interface
Answer: They make 1/4" female to 1/8" male adapters- so you could do that
Question: Will this work to convert unbalanced RCA output from a home theater receiver to be able to connect to a power amp with balanced xlr input only
Answer: Yes that would work. Not sure if you really need it unless you need a compressor on the input signal. The board may already have a preamp built in too.
Question: Can this be used as a 8 way DI for computer split tracks from interface 1/4" in
Answer: It is both. It is a nice sounding preamp with a very basic compressor.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with rack ears
Answer: No, USA only - 105 -120 volts. Sorry
Question: Can this be used standalone as a mixer without a computer
Answer: Yes, it is global to all inputs. I stand corrected . It only affects the three mike/line channels.
Question: Can you plug RCA input into this? or is it only rca out
Answer: ART makes some great devices. I like this design, but I would eschew this one for the Behringer Ultralink Pro 8 Channel Splitter/Mixer Model MX882 more flexibility at a lower price. But if it is the SGX 2000 Express you are after, that's out of production but a great unit.. try Reverb.com
Question: Can you plug a single stereo 6.35mm cable into one of your 4 inputs, and will it stay stereo
Answer: Charlie, you are able to add external effects such as reverb or delay via the FX loop. You send the signal out of the MX622, and into the effect unit, then return it back thru the RETURN inputs on the MX622. Please let us know if we can assist you with anything further, thank you!

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with power adapter that works with 240 v ac 50-60 hz
Answer: It's tough to say. Hum can come from a whole number of issues. It can come from grounding issues, which is what this unit isolates and prevents. That's the most common cause of hum. That said, hum can happen for other reasons, such as failing capacitors or other electronic components, it can also come from certain gear with poor or improper grounding physically touching each other. This won't fix those problems. It will only fix the most common grounding hum issues I mentioned up top.
Question: Will headphone volume run over a 100' extension cable cable
Answer: Electrically the XLR output and 1/4" output are wired in parallel in the T8 so if your 1/4" connection is TRS (balanced) then you can connect to both with only a possible small decrease in signal level. But if your 1/4" connection is only TS (unbalanced) that will affect your XLR output as well which could cause problems with the XLR signal. Just keep in mind that your 1/4" and XLR outputs will not be isolated from each other so you may experience some interference (hum or buzz) depending on what they connect to or if either output feeds a long cable or they feed devices on different grounds. If the output cables are relatively short and connect to devices on the same ground it should work fine.
Question: Can i use the aux inputs to feed in 4 separate headphone signals (all mix-minus signals, so each is different) so I can talkback to each
Answer: I used it to convert an unbalanced keyboard to a balanced signal. It worked well to that. They do make a 2 channel version if all you need is to handle left and right signal.
Question: Can this be battery opperated
Answer: Hi, I have 2 of these units. They are isolation transformers, and are used to make connections while breaking ground loop problems, etc. However, they don't do impedance matching, which is where a true DI comes in. The signal level going in is the same going out.IF your DAW interface has instrument level preamps built into it, then this unit will work for you. But if they are line level inputs, the output of this unit will not be sufficient to give a strong enough signal. In my studio, for example, i have a lot of keyboards all going into the ART units, and then into my console's line inputs. The preamps in the console boost the signal to a level usable by Pro Tools or Tape Machines. For a true DI solution, you might want to look into the Behringer Ultra DI Pro DI800 or the Radial Pro D8.
